Not half as annoying as L1, the self-styled "voice" of the fans, being outsung yet AGAIN by an away crew of 500.

Good Lord, grow up! You're like a child with your constant "my area is better that your area!!!!!!!!111111111111", and then you have the audacity to call others "keyboard warriors". I'm a juvenile fuck and even I find it embarassing.

where do you sit? i'm asking because, if it's the kop, then the sound from L1 won't travel in that direction, especially if the chanting is directed at the away fans, whereas the away fans will be chanting at L1 and thus, also in the direction of the kop and further thus, the sound will carry to the kop. it's always easier to hear someone who's facing you than with there back to you. just a point, like.

anyway, left side/right side; i still like it. ;)

left side / right side only really works for me at away games when the away support is split. Chelt away worked well....good fun and Swindon away with dry side / wet side

But have to say at home, quietly, between a handful of supporters......woeful! it just sounds awful

i thought sk3 against colchester did well. we kept singing long after others stopped.

and for those that are in L1 saying the kop is shite i cant say that you were brilliant, couldnt hear you at all on saturday or on other days for that matter. just my opinion!!!

i however dont really like the left side/right side chant, leave it for away games! but other than that sk3 was good, the rest wasnt great but you cant expect the whole kop including the ones near the front to get up, for one if youre not singing then you get told to sit down within three seconds of finishing a chant but L1 dont have that problem, they dont get told to sit down every 2 seconds even if your on the back row.

Few decent points in here!

Kop can't hear L1 as we (L1) don't sing to the Kop.

In L1 or K you never get told to sit down.

However what I have highlighted is extremely worrying! In a proper Kop with fans who wish to create atmosphere will stand & sing for 90 minutes. Your opinion and expectations tell me, the fans who now attend matches in there are the type who are not interested in creating atmosphere. The area is not the problem!

Look at Spurs fans! They are all stood behind the goal singing. When they sing "oh when the Spurs" it sounds great. In theory there is no reason as to why our fans should not be able to create such an atmosphere, however their fans know the words to their good songs (in honesty or at a guess how many fans know the words to WYS? Most of L & K do because it gets sung every week) and are willing to sing the songs in full voice.

To me to call the South Stand the Kop you would need a different type of fan to stand in there. That will not happpen IMO at LCFC now we have moved.

Your vendetta against L1 is quite entertaining really. Whilst I dislike a lot of the clowns who go in there simply to gesture and Football Factory it up, I've had a right laugh every time I've been in there, and there are a lot of people I enjoy associating with at the football (most of the people I stand with at the awayers I attend). Most of the whole pulling factor of the footy these days is the company you keep, and in my opinion the people in L1 are great company.

As for being outsung, I can't comment but I can only state that from what I've seen of L1 in recent seasons, it's certainly the best place to be at the Walkers.

I share this opinion entirely.

I sat in the left side of the South Stand (kop :crylaugh: ) yesterday when there was an attempt to get this going - bloody awful.

Has anyone tried to get this going as We're the South Stand / East Stand - that would be much more logical and impressive especially if you could get most of both stands joining in, you never know you might even get to hear We're the West Stand :P

This would work well, Hull city sing it and all there stands sing together, cant see many people on this forum agreeing davie as they like to over complicate everything thats probably why all the songs people come up with have wonderfull words but sound crap whn they get sung.

It always makes me cringe a bit left side over here, why not east stand south stand then maybe the west stand could join in.

Ian, I think you're a bit harsh on the SK4 wannabes at the back, at least they wannabe singing. Unlike the lot at the front, who want to be drinking cocoa and "entertained for their money". It was the wannabes who spent much of the second half on Saturday singing "1-0 down, who gives a fook", and that earned them some credit in my book. Better than moaning and booing, which some around me were doing.

I like leftside/rightside, and it was good at Millwall, but it doesn't always work. If you want a song that everyone in the kop can join in, then "we all live in a blue and white kop" seems obvious. And even the new faces know, "You are my Leicester". Molly Malone and 'When you're smiling' require a bit more, but I really don't think the problem with the front half (three-quarters?) of the kop is that the ones at the back are singing the wrong songs. There is a real problem at the Walkers which the club just don't know how to tackle.

Watching MOTD the other day, I was struck by a comment someone made about the Stoke crowd, which was loud and in good voice (if you like *that* song, which I don't, but that's beside the point) to the effect that you never hear the Stoke crowd get on the back of their own team, they're always loud and supportive, they always play their part. We've had that at certain times at LCFC, but not for quite a long time, and right now the Walkers crowd turn up and expect to be entertained, not participate. They've paid good money, they've been given poor entertainment overall for the past few years, and many of them feel they're owed something by the team. They're probably right, too, but that's missing the point of going to a football match. It's not the cinema, you're not supposed to sit quietly (or, for the love of everything precious, commentate wisely to your mate/family/loved one; it's not MOTD, and you don't know what you're doing). For a handful they probably enjoy getting a whole load of negativity and frustration about other stuff in their lives off their chest by yelling abuse at the officials / other team / travelling fans for 90 minutes, and if the home team get in the way of that sometimes, then so be it. There is not, currently, the kind of rapport between team and fans which means we will choose, in large numbers, to put effort in to supporting our club. We're not, whatever we say, "Leicester 'til we die".

Solutions? Well, firstly, look at the causes: instability and crap performances. So a period of steady improvement, with a stable team and management set-up. It's harder (a little) to sing your hearts out for the lads, when "the lads" are mostly on short-term loans and only here to pick up a paycheque. This year is better than last, for obvious reasons, but its easier when we're cheering on players who are clearly giving it all for LCFC. When Steve Walsh was in charge, you couldn't not sing. He'd have you after the game if you tried. We're not in that position yet because of the recent history, but for that reason alone, the club should prioritise the home-grown players and hang on to them, if there's at all a chance they will make it at the higher levels we're aiming for.

Secondly, sort out the stadium. Switching the kop and the family stand is an obvious step, and I cannot understand why they don't do it. Maybe a few kopites with kids should start getting tickets down that end anyway, and start a ruckus with the away fans regularly, until the club notices that it's the wrong place for a family stand? Also, tell the stewards to shut up moaning about people who want to stand, and put a marker five or six rows down from the top, above which people accept there's a risk that the person in front might stand up all game, and the stewards won't stop them. If you don't want to be sat behind a tall fat bastard on his feet all game, don't sit behind me, OK?

Thirdly, and this one takes more from the fans, can we do anything to get singing going before games? One of the biggest differences between football then and now is that no-one, no-one, takes their seats before 2.55 these days. With standing areas and un-numbered seating, it was common to see grounds nearly full by 2.30, the atmosphere building, and the singing underway long before the players ran out. Nowadays, it is a library until the moment the whistle goes. I know you all like your beer and everything, but it's a tall order to go from silence to cauldron in thirty seconds flat at the start of the game. So, how about making SK2 and SK3 'un-numbered seats'? Season tickets could still be sold - you just turn up, though, and sit where you like, taking your chances with the day trippers. If you care about being right behind the goal, or right at the back, get there early. And sing.

Finally, the club needs to realise what works and what doesn't when it comes to recreating missing atmosphere. Thankfully, most clubs that flirted with cheerleaders (ahem) have realised what a stupid idea they are, but the dreaded goal music is everywhere. And it's shit. At Millwall, listening to them sing their song when the teams ran out, it was obvious most of the crowd were only singing the first and last line, the rest of the time all you could hear was the PA playing it. Why bother? If the players want to run around to a recording of some bloke singing a song they can go to a nightclub. The team want the crowd noise on their side, and the crowds make the best noise when they're not interrupted by canned music. Have the teams run out to PHG, it's unique and it's Leicester, and if possible get that bloke with a real horn (ahem, again) to play it live every game, which would be something different from everywhere else. And then get the crowd to make the noise during the game.

Four steps forward, I reckon. Any views?

I agree with much of what you're saying, but it is wrong to blame the stewards for anything.

Remember they only do what their employers tell/pay them to do!!

No, it shows how shit the bluddy song is, twattish and absolutely bugger all to do with supporting Leicester, is there a worse one ? YES, the one nil down who gives a fcuk, this is moronic and an insult to REAL fans, if you really don`t give a fcuk when we`re loosing then fcuk off and watch the telly you have no place at a City match !!

You seem to be pretty sure you're right on this issue so there no point arguing....But come on! Our support at Tranmere was very average until we went 1 down, we started singing this throughout the 2nd half and the players did respond.

Or maybe we should sit on our arses praying we're Man United a 3-nil up.

Yeah but if you take a 7 quid an hour job which involves ruining a lot of peoples' saturday afternoon, you've got to be able to take criticism.

Also it depends whether you're a jobsworth crerin or not. Every steward, in every seated ground in England officially has the task of getting people to sit down. Some couldn't give a fook if you stood on your seat doing windmills with your dong . Others seem to get their jollies from the power of being to harrass a few people and don't leave you alone for 90 minutes.

This comment however proves sometimes you talk alot of childish bollox......

No need.

If anyone hammers the ****** in L1,its me!!!

I absolutely agree about the Steward sentiments myself, and am a staunch defender of them on another forum.

What I was a tad annoyed about was that people always start to stand in the last 15 minutes. We stood, and then a few seats away some yooof lads stood, when a young steward came ad told them sot sit down.

Usually i get annoyed when people kick up a stink (looking for an argument maybe?) but these kids sat right down. But we werent asked to. I would have been as upset if we'd been asked to... maybe its the consistency.

One of the gripes that people in SK4 have when told to sit down is the L1 briagde.. if we arent allowed to stand, why are L1? (thats not me talking, thats the argument i hear most home games)

To re-iterate what people have said, Left/Right Side is preferable to silence. Anything is. That said, it seems to me that quite a lot of Leicester fans are unwilling to broaden their set list a little bit and embrace new tunes/old classics. Surely as "our song" we should sing WYS more than once a game, but how often does that happen? If someone tries to start a new original song, how quickly is it before it's shouted down/laughed off and we return to another rousing rendition of "Who Are Ya" or "Leicester, Leicester, Leicester"?

Yeah, I think it's ridiculous how we only sing it once a game and then moan that no-one knows it. Surely the best way of people learning it is to sing it plenty of times each game, you'll get more people joining in that way.

It's ****ing epic at Sarfampton, though. Seriously. They do it properly.

I wouldn't mind this song if our support was split into two seperate stands at away games, but when we're playing at home or singing it to our fans in the same stand, it's embarrassing and annoying as ****.

The St. Etienne fans are the ones you want to learn from.

I'd like to hear it played over the PA system before the match, like You'll Never Walk Alone and Marching On Together. Then they could play the first couple of lines and let the crowd sing the rest.

Doubt it will ever happen though :(

The problem is we sing it about 50 times the speed of recorded versions!

I have always enjoyed the '1-0 down who gives a fuck' chant. Entertaining to say the least.

I thought it was good on Saturday in SK1, but wondered about the shelf-life of the chant - only applies if (a) we're losing and (b) we're in a position in the league where we are likely to get promotion.

Disagree. Just shows optimism. It's obviously robbed off Leeds who sung it from when they were -15 until they lost in the play-off final.

Cannae watch the vid in the library here, it's not loading for some strange reason. I shall do independant research and more than likely agree with you. But until I experience their version, I can safely say the one at So'ton is the best I've come across.

Probably, never tried to embed a Youtube Video before. Here's the link anyway:
