davieG Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I sat in the left side of the South Stand (kop ) yesterday when there was an attempt to get this going - bloody awful. Has anyone tried to get this going as We're the South Stand / East Stand - that would be much more logical and impressive especially if you could get most of both stands joining in, you never know you might even get to hear We're the West Stand

Ford Super Sunday Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 SK3 sing left side, SK2 sing right side. When it gets going its not bad... but sorry... dont get it going when we just made it 1-1 against mighty colchester. Atmosphere (in the 'Kop') anyway on saturday was bloody shite... too many enjoying the good weather. Youll never get the lower section of the Kop, the west stand or the majority of the east stand going (exception of L1 and surrounding area) face it, Filbert way is in a rut at the moment

Of course these people don't join in but there is a chance that if you sing something they know, feel part of and understand they might. If you could get the singers in SK2/3 to sing the same song together for a change it would be louder, hopefully the lower section of the Kop would join in when it got going, with L1 responding there is a chance over time that the Eaststanders in between might join in also. With both stands in full voice then the (Left) South and (Right) East would have some meaning and would be very impressive.

Rocky Dennis Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Im in favour of more atmosphere and a good sing song but the whole left side/right side thing is excruciatingly painful to hear, it's an embarrasment. I cant offer an alternative but I along with many, many others do not want to heat this shite pointless 'song'.

The few posts Rocky makes, I 999 times out of 1000 agree with him.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Left side/right side is one of the few chants that the 'wannabe* brigade' know (By wannabe i mean the teens aged 14-16 at the back of SK4 who fink there proper hard innit!) whenever 'Molly Malone' is blasted out they shut their mouths because they dont know it.... blimy its depressing near the top of SK4 sometimes. (and there are other chants which they know, but they sing it in such a monotone voice i just wanna gaffer tape their mouths shut) LS/RS if fine for away games, I do quite enjoy that.. and if we are raping a team then it will be vocal, but saturday was pathetic... the kop has been pathetic... the last time it was good was against Sheff Wed (until they started caning us) If only the stadoum had been done so the Away fans were next to the south stand... then maybe L1 and the 'kop' would be merged.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 The few posts Rocky makes, I 999 times out of 1000 agree with him. But he's only got 482 posts.
Kilworthfox Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 But he's only got 482 posts. OK he is more often in line with my thinking, than otherwise
Dr The Singh Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 But he's only got 482 posts. I wouldn't let it bother you Trav, he says that to all of the boys.....................

This is an excellent point! maybe this needs to be discussed in a thread of its own?

Uncle Monty Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Awful song, home fans signing against each other - crazy!
Dr The Singh Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Oi shut it you! where were you at the weekend? Don't ask mate, I got held up, next time i'm not waiting for anyone!! I should be out for carlisle, we'll hook up then!! Also, you still not getting a season ticket, cus i'm getting one, Mrs Singh gave me the go ahead yesterday!!!

Also, you still not getting a season ticket, cus i'm getting one, Mrs Singh gave me the go ahead yesterday!!! Probably not mate. Performances like saturdays don't help. I was bored shitless. I am glad I had a decent drink beforehand as I may have hung myself if I had not left when I did. If next season the matchday experience gets better or more like it used to be, then I will make a few guest apperances for the right f££

davieG Posted 23 March 2009 Author Posted 23 March 2009 Why do I get the impression that most of you are missing my point. Yes it is crap but it's worse when just sung by a few in one stand. I'm of the view that it doesn't matter what you sing as long as you get loads of people joining in, most regularly sung/chanted football ditties are crap but it's not a bloody song contest it's vocal support - do you think the players care what the words are, do think they'll be saying fook this lot I'm not trying if that's the best they can come up with. How relevant is Delilah etc. As I said if you can get the whole of the Kop singing We're the South Stand followed by the L1ers and the East Stand singing We're the East as crap as you all might think that would be it would be better than anything I've heard at the Walkers.

CosbehFox Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Quite funny at 'Wall that the left side tried it, only to be ignored by the right side on every occasion.
Alexikokopops Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I think people are being unfair on the chant. When it gets in full flow between the left side of L1 and the right side of K1 the atmosphere is comparable to the Liverpool Kop on a European Night.
Corky Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I'd like a few more altercations in the Family Stand. After ten years, since a woman accused another woman of celebrating when West Ham scored, we had another one. In my last three matches there I want at least one per match. It livened the match up on Saturday.
Raj Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 We need to move the Kop with The family Stand. Put the away fans in The car Park and make the pies abit cheaper. Oh and get the Scoreboard working near the Kope, which by then will be The family stand... Corky Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 What actually happened???There was alot of finger poiting going on!!! I think a woman had her jester hat nicked Seriously, I don't know, my attention was brought by the stewards running over and people looking over that way. I saw one boy angrily storm out so I assume an argument took place. And what is it with people running on the pitch against Colchester? Two years in a row now.
