Quick! Someone who knows about films! Help!

I'm going down Blockbuster in 15 minutes. I want to see a film as good as Stranger Than Fiction which I watched last night. I don't want a critical review of that film, I just want to know of any similar films. Quirky comedies that make you think. Like Being John Malkovich (which I really liked) or Eternal Sunshine... (which I didn't really like that much but that sort of thing) or even Punch Drunk Love which I thought was good.

I don't really watch films that often.

Time is ticking.

And obviously it has to be the sort of thing that Blockbuster will have.

Are you not forgetting you need to watch In Bruges to get your poon on?

Failing that, a little known film called The Station Agent is an absolute sleeper classic. It's a little funnier than but perhaps more alike Lost In Translation than the films you named - it's about finding friends in the strangest places - but it's simply wonderful.

Just get the Arrested Developemnt box set.

Way ahead of you, that is bloody brilliant. If I could get anything that made me laugh as much as that, I'm in.

lol That's an option I forgot.

Honestly, Bevan, In Bruges fits most of your criteria. It's not too thinky in terms of plot twists but it's a quirky comedy, it's a bit intelligent, has a bit of emotion in a bit a bit of drama. It's genuinely excellent.

Watched the first 15 minutes with them stuck in a room and wondered is it worth carrying on!

Surely closer to the 'Thoughtful Comedy' bracket is stuff like Little Miss Sunshine, which no-one should not have seen.

That was on sale for £3.

Got In Bruges.

One of the few films I enjoyed.

Will get it tomorrow morning, I nearly got it anyway, looked like the sort of thing I was after.

It's one of those films that makes you feel warm inside without insulting your intelligence (also I really like the score)

Just for my input albeit a bit late - In Bruges is an awesome film!! Well written, funny and clever!

Classic - used to freak the hell out of me when I was little. Much like E.T., the original Battlestar Galactica series, Planet Of The Apes or an ominous Bruce Campbell sci-fi flick called "Moontrap".

Fez, if you're still looking for something quirky, how about some of Wes Anderson's movies?

"Rushmore"?

"The Royal Tenenbaums"?

"The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou"?

Or "Fargo"?

And btw, has Rian Johnson's "The Brothers Bloom" come out yet?

I like Little Miss Sunshine. I don't think it's especially thought provoking, though, just kinda nice.

Love the ending, has me in stitches every time.
