Ultra Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Maybe not but didn't they insist on all sorts of environmental and transport impact assessments when the Walkers was being planned and the insistence on an LCFC park and ride scheme - not that that ever got off the ground. I haven't seen that proposed for the Tigers who will be virtually doubling their capacity They were certainly part of the conditions for the Tigers. As far as I'm aware, travel plans should be in place for the start of next season.
Vestan Pance Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Here's another one who's just come off the spaceship. So the Council should ignore the advice given by emergency services should it? I don't think so. Nor do many other city residents. This point has been made before, but here it is again just in case you missed it... THE TIGERS CHANGE KICKOFF TIMES FAR MORE OFTENTHANCITYDO Oooh large font.
Babylon Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Oooh large font. I like the fact it makes the shape of a monkey nut.
davieG Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 They were certainly part of the conditions for the Tigers. As far as I'm aware, travel plans should be in place for the start of next season. Ah right, although the well known cynic in me can't help thinking that like the Walkers build these travel plans mostly hot air and and not worth the space or expense they take up as very few of the plans will come to fruition because lets face it fans are set in their ways and are unlikely to change their travel arrangements - might have been different if the stadiums had ended up at Fosse Park, Beaumont Ley's or Glenfield
anotherwin Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Is everyone happy and looking forward to tonight?

Lillehamring Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 Filbo was finished. Knocking down 300+ houses on two sides wouldn't have changed that fact.Nothing to do with it, the approval came in two separate stages. The hotel and associated developments will provide extra jobs though, which the city could well do with right now.. I'd like to see a new arena too, but other citizens seem less bothered, perhaps because they prefer their council tax to be spent on stuff like schools and roads.. That's a very astute observation, delivered all the way from Oslo. I'm sure Ross Willmott and co. will be deeply wounded. Once again you seem to have all the answers... just like that scumbag Wilmott... The city council have always been about finding reasons not to do anything and to drag out the old chestnut about tax payers money, i'm sure we could list dozens of occasions where the council have squandered or mismanaged council funds...for example, the shambolic new theatre (and lets not forget this was initiated under wilmott's regime) perhaps people would be more prepared to consider your opinion if you didn't have to stick your childish little digs and patronising font in every response you make - yes, i live in Oslo but when i was in leicester i was outspoken on the preservation of the city's heritage and had several run ins with wilmott on the letters page of the mercury - he, like you, could only ever drag out stock diversionary answers... unless of course wilmott is no longer a power-crazed moron whose self-interest and ego have sunk the city to fabulous depths, but i very much doubt that... is it any wonder i moved to oslo, leicester is a void as far as i'm concerned, and so much of this is down to the council approving demolition and failing to enforce quality replacements... you stick to your dreamworld of a council and keep the collective head buried in the sand, i've seen enough of other cities in england and around the world to know that, like filbo, leicester is finished...
iancognito Posted 24 April 2009 Posted 24 April 2009 OMG - yet ANOTHER fcukwit feels compelled to contribute to this thread regardless of any knowledge of the facts.... The plans for Filbert Street fell through not only because of the objections from residents, but because they were astonishingly badly drafted. For one thing, we would have had to relocate to Nottingham or Coventry for at least one season while the pitch was rotated. Secondly the capacity of the stadium would have been limied to 20000 - permanently! The renaming of Tigers Way came about as a means of recognising the success the rugby team have brought to the city. There are no more councillors with season tickets for Tigers than there are with those for City. In both cases, the numbers are in single figures. And two of the names you mention actually left the Council SIX YEARS ago. Fcukwit? You started the sentence with OMG, that's more fcukwitted than any opinion I hold. Though I should be grateful you didn't take to putting your reply in large font to mkake a point It's irrelevant if two of them left six years ago, the decisions I was talking about them making were taken longer ago than that when they were in power but refused to help or listen to opinions. Can you explain how we had a 22000 capacity at Filbert Street but redeveloping the two cowsheds wouldn't have increased capacity? Even if they'd both stayed one tier, the seats would have increased and filling in corners would have only increased capacity further. I also never suggested that the pitch rotation was a good idea, just that it was one of a number that were rejected.
Ultra Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 Whether you like it or not, the plans (which I saw and you obviously didn't) was for the capacity to be limited to 20000 with a new main stand along Filbert Street. I also recall the Council approving plans for a 40000-seat stadium on Bede Island ten years ago. So it's bullsh!t to say they've held the club back.
Zingari Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 what have the council ever done for us they've bled us dry the b*strds apart from the aquaduct
Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 The facts have not changed. I am right and Ultra is wrong.
lou Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 Not forgetting the cycling stadium, a decent City Centre swimming pool to replace St Margarets and there refusal to allow LCFC to extend /alter Filbert St forcing us to move to the resultant debt ridden lego box stadium - all whilst allowing DeMontfort University the freedom of the city and carte blance to knock down decent buildings and to build any inappropriatly sited monstrosity they want.Awaits Ultra to say I haven't the right to complain because I currently live in the County. Dont get me started on Saffron Lane Stadium
Zingari Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 will we still be getting the monorail running through town ? it's taking a long time

CosbehFox Posted 25 April 2009 Author Posted 25 April 2009 Let's not forget our Council granted permission for the Tigers expansion, only to tell us after the building work started that Tigers and City will no longer be able to play on the same day due to the added congestion from to increased capacity of Welford Road. Stating that the emergency services will find it harder to fight their way through the traffic. Shouldn't the planning commitee have thought of that before granting permission for the expansion? Who will give way on the fixtures? I won't be Tigers will it? It's the Leicestershire Police what said it. Not the council. I suspect there will be 3 changes - because Tigers have so many changes anyways with telly.
Gaffer Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 Back on Topic... my picture of it; Though it was quite funky.
Ultra Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 The facts have not changed.I am wrong and Ultra is right.
Alexikokopops Posted 25 April 2009 Posted 25 April 2009 Apparently not, we'll all have to get used to a lot more friday games I reckon. Watford share their stadium with Saracens. Reading share their stadium with London Irish. Stockport share their stadium with Sale. Wycombe share their ground with Wasps. Bristol Rovers share their stadium with Bristol Rugby. Obviously those teams can't play on the same day, like us and the Tigers, and I can't remember those football teams having to play on a Friday night that often.
