Nod.E Posted 28 May 2009 Author Posted 28 May 2009 Yeah I do.Risk I'll happily take, my current car would have been over £2k insurance otherwise. May have to get a parent, then. Thanks, i'll get mon pere to ring his insurers up. I'm willing to take that risk, purely because it's the only way i'll be driving in the next 5 fagging years.
charliefox Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 I really don't understand car insurance prices. Was looking to get a 1995 1.3 Fiesta for £400. The insurance on that 3rd party was about £1300. But I can get insurance on a 2003 1.3 Fiesta or 1.4 Renault Megane it would cost me about £1150 fully comp. Much cheaper coz I'm a girl as well.

Edmund Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 pay more for night driving, etc, there are a few Insurers who will give you a discount. Yeah pass plus saved me 40% on my first year. Is well worth the £60

Bakey Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 A little off subject and just to try and get a heads up, what is the cheapest car to get insured on as a 17 year old driver? if anyone knows
welck12 Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 40%! Crikey. What do you have to do to get it? My instructor said to me when i passed, if i gave him a tenner to cover the costs of the certificate he'd just sign mine for me, gotta love it A little off subject and just to try and get a heads up, what is the cheapest car to get insured on as a 17 year old driver? if anyone knows Probarly something like an early 90's model with a small engine, none spring to mind at the minute though
Vacamion Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 Insurers aren't just looking at the value of the car, they are looking at the likelihood of something really expensive, like a crash with passengers getting severe spinal injuries and requiring special care for the rest of their lives, so I would say a small modern car with a high Euro NCAP rating.
Legend_in_blue Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 I'm not much help here. Group 16 is rather expensive. I can vouch for that.

True, i'm sure. However, the reason that I want cheap car insurance, is because that's all I can afford. I'm looking for the most decent car, at a small price, that is cheap to insure. It's a lot to ask for, I know.

I have a mate who has a 1.2 clio grande (or something like grande) and he only has to pay 1500 and 1400 with the pass plus. Thats with Quinn Direct, although he is 18. Also I think they charge more with certain colours, e.g. if its black. Have a look at the Pass Plus, Hampshire County Council pay for half of the lessons so there may be something similar in Leicestershire.

Legend_in_blue Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 A little off subject and just to try and get a heads up, what is the cheapest car to get insured on as a 17 year old driver? if anyone knows One of those Kia 'things'. Or you could convert yourself into 'one of those drivers' who is always a menace on the road - I'm talking Nissan Micra here. Mini Metro drivers, Nissan Micra drivers - they are all the same - they are out there as a menace - you can't get away from them - you can barely steer past them - they're a pest I tell you - total menace!
Bakey Posted 12 April 2010 Posted 12 April 2010 Need some car insurance advice, manily the broker because everyone keeps saying "quinn direct" but it turns out that they've stoped quoting to non-existing customers in the UK. I'm 17 just passed my test (at the 1st time of asking ) and looking at cars......1 litres perhaps Polo or something under £2000.
