lou Posted 6 June 2009 Author Posted 6 June 2009 Just set up fish farms and breed them You couldnt possibly sustain the worlds demand from fish farms........ most of the fish we eat is from the Ocean (ie Salt water!) and the quantities would demand a huge area of water.
Edmund Posted 6 June 2009 Posted 6 June 2009 Just set up fish farms and breed them Oh god. Have you ever tried fresh fish opposed to farmed fish? Farmed fish eat manmade fish food whereas fresh fish eat well smaller fish and natural elements. Back on topic, I always choose Haddock over Cod down the chippy as it tastes nicer and cod is being overfished.
Edmund Posted 6 June 2009 Posted 6 June 2009 Every year around 7m tonnes of unwanted fish - or bycatch - is thrown back into the sea. That is shocking. Just like the Japanese fishermen who catch shed loads of dolphins by accident whilst fishing for tuna.
stez Posted 6 June 2009 Posted 6 June 2009 Just set up fish farms and breed them according to one of the writers of the 'end of the line' book, you have to catch five times the fish, than you get from the fish farms to feed the fish in the farms. if that makes sense.....!

l444ry Posted 6 June 2009 Posted 6 June 2009 Scientists give up on idea of teaching Fish to Smoke Pipes A 5-year scientific study involving 62 countries has been scrapped after the head of the research team announced that teaching fish to smoke pipes is pretty pointless. Up to 150 scientists and researchers - at a cost of over £40 million - attempted to encourage salmon to take up the nasty habit, but to no avail. "We wanted to try and make smoked salmon without the need for any cooking but they just wouldn't keep the little pipes in their mouths", said the man in charge of the scheme, "they kept falling out". "To be honest, they preferred chewing gum or sucking on lollipops. Some are health freaks and refused for that reason. They are more into riding their little underwater unicycles and working out".
