The BBC is set to name three top football managers who have been accused of taking bungs.Kevin Bond Libel case: Tottenham assistant manager Kevin Bond is taking the BBC to court Tottenham assistant manager Kevin Bond is due in the Royal Courts of Justice Queen's Bench Division on Monday after bringing a libel case against the BBC programme Football's Dirty Secrets, which was first screened in September 2006. The programme inferred that Bond would consider taking undisclosed payments from football agents. The BBC, which will be protected by legal privilege at the hearing, is preparing to show 50 hours of undercover footage - most of which ended up on the cutting-room floor - as part of their explosive defence. Don't know if this have any effect on Milan after his brush with the law last year.
Webbo Posted 9 June 2009 Author Posted 9 June 2009 I'd like to know who the managers are. From bits I can remember of the programme and bits I've read in the papers it seems like Harry Redknapp and Sam Aladyce are 2 of them.

Father Ted Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 From bits I can remember of the programme and bits I've read in the papers it seems like Harry Redknapp and Sam Aladyce are 2 of them. The dodgy agents were Big Sam's son and Pini Zahavi.
Steven Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 From the Grauniad. Oh dear it looks the stories might be correct, allegedly. Kevin Bond drops libel claim against BBC over Panorama investigation
Webbo Posted 4 October 2009 Author Posted 4 October 2009 http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/tott...onaco-bank.html WHEN Portsmouth sold Peter Crouch to Aston Villa for £5million in March 2002, the deal's significance barely registered on football's Richter Scale. But, more than seven years later, the aftermath of the Crouch transfer is still being investigated by police and Revenue and Customs officials. And the men at the heart of the deal still seem unable to agree on just why a six-figure sum was paid into an offshore bank account in Harry Redknapp's name by former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric. Portsmouth bought Crouch from QPR for £1.25m in July 2000 and - after settling all outstanding fees - were left with a net profit of around £2m when he moved to Villa Park. Redknapp insists that, under the terms of his contract as Director of Football at Fratton Park, he was owed 10 per cent of the profit Portsmouth made on Crouch. The money paid into his HSBC account in Monaco was the balance of that payment, which was later transferred to his HSBC account in the UK. Mandaric claims the sum was not part of any contractual bonus owed to Redknapp or even connected to the football club but simply a payment to a friend in order for him to make a business investment.
TrickyTrev Posted 4 October 2009 Posted 4 October 2009 How is it acceptable for the director of football to take a 10% cut of any profit made on transfers? His interests when considering transfers deals should be the long term development of the football club, not his own financial gain. No wonder "''Arry loves to wheel and deal" as the media put it.
davieG Posted 5 October 2009 Posted 5 October 2009 • Payment was 'a private matter between Harry and myself' • Tottenham manager says he is victim of a 'witch-hunt' Milan Mandaric has vehemently denied any wrongdoing over a reported payment of £100,000 he made into an off-shore account in Harry Redknapp's name following the sale of Peter Crouch from Portsmouth to Aston Villa some seven years ago. The former Pompey chairman, now at Leicester City, spoke to Redknapp this morning following a story in a Sunday newspaper before reiterating publicly that the payment had been "a private matter between Harry and myself" and had nothing to do with Portsmouth' Redknapp, whose contract saw him due a percentage of sell-on fees from outgoing transfers from Fratton Park at the time, had claimed the money related to a fee owed upon Crouch's £5m sale. Mandaric suggested that version of events was "miscommunication". "I talked to Harry about that [this morning] and he said what was being said over the weekend was totally wrong," he said. "I would rather not get involved in the details. As far as Harry and I are concerned, there has been nothing done wrong. It had nothing to do with the Crouch deal. It was entirely a private matter between Harry and myself. "At that time Harry had a contract and we lived up to promises of that contract. As a gesture to Harry, I did something separately. I just helped him on the side to make him some money away from football. I paid for it myself off the stock market in America. It had nothing to with the football club – it was a deal between Harry, who is a friend of mine, and myself – and it was a very small amount. I was just helping him to make some investment outside. But it has got nothing to do with Crouch whatsoever." As to the £100,000 figure, he said: "There is nothing even close to that amount of money." Mandaric, Redknapp and the Portsmouth chief executive, Peter Storrie, are all still under investigation into alleged corruption in football by the City of London Police and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. Tottenham Hotspur have said they remain fully supportive of Redknapp, while the current Leicester chairman was interviewed by police when he answered his bail. All three deny any wrongdoing. "I certainly expect that to be done rather soon," added Mandaric of the investigation. "Over two years I have given all my support and I hope that they will finish it as soon as possible. I don't see that anything has been done wrong with Portsmouth, Harry, Peter or myself and I expect to be able to get on with our lives." Redknapp said: ""This is about a discrepancy of around £10,000 in income tax. I've paid £10m in income tax over the past 10 years and this is what it's come down to. "It's in dispute whether the money is owed anyway and I've been totally up front with everyone about this. I'm sick of it." The Tottenham manager added in the Sun: "Milan doesn't feel the money is owed anyway because he made an investment on my behalf in some stocks and shares in America. I told the taxman about it." Redknapp believes he is the victim of a witch-hunt. "If it had been anyone else, a normal member of the public, they would have dropped it or told them to pay up with a bit of interest and that would have been the end of the matter." Source
