Championship new boys LEICESTER CITY want Manchester City left-back Ryan McGivern on loan for the season.

Boss Mark Hughes will probably let the 19-year-old Northern Ireland international go to the Foxes for regular football in time for their pre-season programme.

think thats a couple of left back we've been linked with, could mattock be on his way?

As Fez said, this is most likely down to Beaglehole as he would know him from the Northern Ireland setup.

Sounds like he could be a quality signing but do we really need another left-back :dunno:

Yes, we've only just got promoted.

I'm well aware of that thanks, it's just the phrase sort of implies that it's our first venture into the Championship

Only if Mattock leaves.

Presumably Berner and Powell would be sufficient cover if he stays.

If hes never made the Man City first team at 19 can you seriously ever see him coming close to it? With the money they've got they'll just go and buy the best thats available. He could be a top defender for all we know.

He was on loan at Morecambe last season and was very impressive supposedly. Dont really see why we need a left back though when we Mattock, Berner and maybe Powell plus a few players that can cover there (Dyer, Tunchev). Its in The People though so i call Bullshit.

I know it is inevitable, and we will do it from now on, especially as we aren't a big club anymore

But I am getting a bit sick of being a bigger football clubs whore-house for its youngsters.

Granted, we got Hobbs, when we might not have got him had he not come on loan. But I do like a bit of stability at the club, and having a different person every year in is a bit annoying.

I'm not saying that I DEMAND we don't sign anyone on loan, but i'd like to be able to have a 'first option' clause in the loan agreements should we sign someone, and they decide to seel him

Even if he does has a good loan spell at us, like someone said earlier if Man City thought he was going to be amazing he would have been in there first team by now. And Man City could buy anybody they wanted pretty much, as long as they can agree contracts with them.

Joe Hart has been dropped, could argue that he deserves an England call up with his ability, now he's second string to one of the best keepers in the Premier League in Given.

The key word there being dropped. To be dropped you have to make it into the team in the first place. Clearly they think Joe Hart is a very good keeper. Just not ready to be number one in Top 6 team.

Just shows you with my other point that if they want they can go out and get anyone they want

Leicester are lining up a swoop for Manchester City youngster Ryan McGivern, skysports.com understands.

The Championship new boys are hopeful of striking a loan deal for McGivern ahead of the new season.

McGivern is thought to have been recommended to Foxes boss Nigel Pearson and he is ready to take him to the Walkers Stadium.

The 19-year-old is highly regarded at Eastlands and he has already won six caps for Northern Ireland.

McGivern enjoyed a successful loan spell at Morecambe last season and City are thought to be keen on loaning him out again so that he can continue his development.

If that goes through then it could see Mattock on his way, Man City wouldn't send this lad out on loan not to play. At least it might free a bit of cash up to spend on a striker or two.

Oh FFS not another unproven youngster and a another defender.

NIGEL defense is fine mate, strengthen midfiled and attack! PLEASE!

Chill. NP and MM have said that they are seriously looking into Midfield and Attacking signings.

And if Mattock got injured, who would you put there?
