The Leicester/Coventry 'derby' is meant to be the 26th fiercest in the country.

I take it you mean Manchester United? (in which case I would agree)

Sorry, I just hate it when fans of other clubs refer to them as 'United' as if there are no other clubs that use the name...

I like to refer to them as Manure.

but they dont hate you HATE COV

*Makes generic statement about Forest fans just pretending not to care about us when they really do.*

Why hate someone just so you can have a meaningless mutual rivalry based on nothing but arbitrary hatred? I bet most Man U fans don't consider Man City as their main rival (preferring Leeds or Liverpool), but you don't see Man City fans starting to hate Stockport (who, if I remember correctly, do consider Man City to be their most hated rival) do you?

Rivalries have many different factors to them and different derbies mean different things to different fans. To suggest that we should just accept Chaventry as our generic "main rival" is pretty daft really.

A lot of it depends on location. I suppose to people in the Hinckley/Nuneaton area, they would see Coventry as rivals. To those in the north of the county, Forest or Derby would be the biggest.

I think there is a rivalry between us and Coventry. Not major, but it is there.

Generation is also a factor.

I always hated Derby the most as a kid because we were in the top flight at the same time as them for quite a few years, but now I dislike Forest more because I know quite a few Forest fans (all born after the 1980) and every single bloody one of them strolls around with a completely undeserved sense of accomplishment on their face wheneer I talk to them about football. Also the fact that the local media seems pretty biased towards them irks me somewhat.

To be honest, with both Forest and Derby, I'm probably just envious of the success they both had under Clough more than anything else.

Exactly. I think deep down inside we'd all love to be able to say Leicester were once champions of Europe. However, what irks me most about Derby and Forest supporters is that they never freely admit that without their respective periods under Clough, their histories are actually fairly run-of-the-mill for a decent-sized English club...

As we're roughly the same age, I agree that Derby are the biggest rival, to me anyway, because we've played them the most. Apart from the last 2 seasons, we'd played them every year for the previous 12 (03/04 the exception), so the deep rivalry (on our side anyway) is produced.

Said it before in this thread, I'll say it again. It has to be Swanasea/Cardiff.

It's certainly the derby which has the tightest restrictions on away fans. Read an article about it in FourFourTwo a few months back about it and the policing is unbelievable.

My mate goes to uni in Swansea and when they played in the League Cup the university sent out a warning to all its students telling them not to leave the area around their accommodation. You wouldn't even get that kind of shit for the Old Firm.

Millwall vs West Ham should be right up there, well on second thoughts maybe not as they never play each other, Maybe they didn't put Cardiff/Swansea on there because its a Welsh game technically?

yeah true... if it was in the whole of the UK Gers/Celtic would have come 1st!

Just because teams don't play each other in a while doesn't mean the rivalry doesn't mean anything. It just means the next time they play each other it'll be absolutely mental.

Cardiff and Swansea hadn't played each other in years before last season and that hadn't affected the ferocity of the derby one iota. I'm sure it's the same with regards to Man Ure-Leeds, Palace-Brighton or Bristol City-Bristol Rovers. The intense rivalry's still there, but the fixtures aren't.

Hell, I even know F*rest fans who looked out for Leicester away first when this season's fixtures came out just because they hadn't played us in a league game for a couple of years!
