lou Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 For once I actually agree with super city. My sisters boyfriend is a long standing manure fan and he has seen some right bad shit over the years. Also at the brum derby wasn't a fan ran over and murdered a couple of years ago. Both I imagine far worse.edit* Also no Millwall v West Ham or Millwall V Chelsea and Spurs V Arsenal. Or Millwall and anyone for that matter
davieG Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Leeds / Man U - Surely the world's biggest, most frightening, most logical, evenly matched rivalry - EVER!!!!
leicesterseddon Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 With the exception of the Old Firm Derby and some London derbies, I've always considered inter-city derbies more fierce than intra-city derbies. The Merseyside Derby is a good example: it's built up by the media and important in a footballing sense, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a Liverpool fan who truly 'hates' Evertonians from his own city more than Mancunians. Same with Bristol City v. Rovers as compared to clashes with teams across the Severn, where there is the added Anglo-Welsh element to proceedings. As for us, well I don't think we have a nationally recognised mutual derby with another club. Forest and Derby is, I'm afraid, the recognised 'East Midlands Derby' - primarily because the two clubs are geographically closer and on the same river, and also because of shared links such as both teams being managed by Brian Clough. In fact, Clough in a way actually 'made' the derby. Both clubs' fans reject their rivalry with us as secondary (although anyone who goes still knows there is much more hatred on their side than they let on). Coventry have the same problem in terms of being excluded from the acknowledged West Midlands derbies of Wolves v. West Brom and Brum City v. Villa. In theory, our main rivalry should be with Coventry (especially as it is the nearest city) - but it's never taken off, partly because Cov is recognised as a West Mids. city and Leicester an East Mids. city, and partly due to the feeling among many of our fans (me included) who don't see Cov as much of a club or city. I suppose ultimately it depends where you live: Leicester fans from Hinckley/Nuneaton would probably see Cov as the main rival, for fans from Northwest Leicestershire would be Derby, etc. However, as I'm not from Leicester I don't really know who fans in the city consider as rivals - I mean in theory it should be Forest because of Leicester and Nottingham being rival cities in the region, but I don't know. I think that's really why we've never really had one true rivalry. <_<
haraven Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Well written leicesterseddon - you make some fair points.

Another factor therefore in the LCFC rivalry stakes is how well Forest, Derby, Cov were doing at the time you first started supporting LCFC; if it was, for example during the O'Neil years it would probably be Derby.
Cat Burger Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 What can be bigger than playing for the right to call the M69 our own. MASSIVE game.
Matt Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 I think on a whole they do hate us more than we hate them, I personally hate them, can't stand them, but many Leicester don't really care for them too much, I went to the Nuneaton v Covscum game the other day wearing my Leicester shirt and got quite a few sarcastic comments, and stuff shouted at me, they even started a chant "If all hate Leicester clap your hands". Then I was in town the other day and heard someone with their car window down muttering "We hate Leicester, we hate Leicester, we hate Leicester, and we hate Leicester". Again though it's all about location for what teams people class at the big one or hate most.
Zingari Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 singling out teams to hate is stupid . i hate every one of our opponents that beat us
Dan Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Surely Cardiff/Swansea is the worst? Makes me laugh how Cardiff and Swansea absolutely despise the English yet they hate each other more than anyone.
acooling08 Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Don't care about Cov really. They try to provoke us because no one gives a shit about them and they want to be hated by some one
Samilktray Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Makes me laugh how Cardiff and Swansea absolutely despise the English yet they hate each other more than anyone. Hilarious that.
Finnegan Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Makes me laugh how Cardiff and Swansea absolutely despise the English yet they hate each other more than anyone. Personally doesn't make me laugh at all. Nothing more cringeworthy than sitting in the North Enclosure watching the away fans laugh while the Jacks and the Soul Crew fight it out in our own stand. Even the Old Firm don't cause trouble at internationals. South Wales derbies are guaranteed to cause incident.
Guest Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Fierce eh? Grrrrrr! (honestly, we keep going round in circles with this discussion and it always comes back to when you started supporting city as to who you see our 'fiercest' rivalry as being with)
Alexikokopops Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 I dunno what the others are, just saw it on the Wiki. Like you say it's pretty far down the list but I'm suprised it even counts to be honest, I can't remember when there was last an incident involving City fans, there was a little scuffle a few years back but I can't remember who that was with. Ermmmm http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news...il/article.html http://cv5.coventrytelegraph.net/2008/11/h...-terms-for.html That's over twenty people jailed (18 Leicester fans) for an incident that happened last February.
Simi Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 Leeds v United is the biggest in England for me. Leicester based, I'd say it's Foxestalk vs Bentleys's Roof.
leicesterseddon Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 Leeds v United is the biggest in England for me.Leicester based, I'd say it's Foxestalk vs Bentleys's Roof. I take it you mean Manchester United? (in which case I would agree) Sorry, I just hate it when fans of other clubs refer to them as 'United' as if there are no other clubs that use the name...
markbsac Posted 21 July 2009 Posted 21 July 2009 i dont give a flying fook about cov...in loughborough its the red scum florist who we hate.

Ozwin Posted 22 July 2009 Author Posted 22 July 2009 Ermmmm http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news...il/article.html http://cv5.coventrytelegraph.net/2008/11/h...-terms-for.html That's over twenty people jailed (18 Leicester fans) for an incident that happened last February. Well shut my mouth then! How did I not hear about that?
Budweiser Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 Just 'cos Man Utd and Liverpool have more fans than WBA and Wolves doesn't mean its a 'fiercer' rivalry. Exactly this.
