davieG Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Those two in particular are way beyond pessimistic, especially Wellens who was one of the best midfielders in the division last season. We'll be alright. They where the only two I wasn't unduly pessimistic about but I've not really seen either play at this level so cannot say other than what I have.
Chrysalis Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 I have no doubt we will have loan signings galore again, so what we think will be the first 11 come KO day will not be, there will be I expect at least 2 loanees playing. What I am dissapointed in is the lack of permanent signings, what forest are doing has made me a bit depressed, I think we ok at the back, midfield we could do with 1 more signing and I think the major problem is at the front. I think we need to sign 2 strikers with at least one of them been a proven goalscorer at this level. Unfortenatly I dont think MM is willing to splash out on the required transfer fees for that.
smokey Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Assuming our team is based on this, here is my pessimistic view:Weale - couldn't get in Bristol's team in the Championship Neilson - Ex Scottish players haven't exactly excelled at Championship level for us Hobbs - Unproven at this level Tunchev - Should be able to cope Mattock - Still developing/learning any mistakes are sure to be heavily punished Dyer - I believe he wasn't that successful at this level previously, at the best he's unproven Oakley - Needs to perform significantly better than our previous Championship campaign Wellens - Should be able to cope N'Guessan - Unproven at this level Fryatt - see Oakley Howard - see Oakley also now a couple of years older than when he did it for Derby. Having said all that I'm a firm believer, especially at this level that the sum (team) is more important than the the parts. So much will depend on how wel integrated the team is, there fitness, their desire to win and their mental capacity especially in performing until the whistle blows for full time. I still think we're not strong enough to rise above mid-table. For starters who is playing Right Midfield in this side? Dyer or N'Guessan dont so you need to lose one of them and put in Andy King with Oakley on the right. Personally i would like Cleverly back to push the Midfield for a spot and 2 new Strikers in to push Fryatt/Howard. If that happens i think we will be allright, im not that bothered about Logan as Back up Goalie and Oneil as back up right back, think the creative/goals side is our big concern at the mo!

Well it wasn't intended to be a definitive team there are lots of combinations I could have put in but people tend to want just short posts. As for right midfield who knows and N'Guessan could well end up playing up front either I'm not sure that it matters as it was just a simple way of showing my pessimism.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 I think this team looks a pretty good championship side bar the strikers, Fryatt will do well this season but he needs someone competing with him in order for us to get the best out of him. I think NP should really consider moving Mattock to LM aswell as he looks good going forward and we probably wouldn't concede as many goals, it would give our midfield a bit of steel aswell. GK. Weale (Logan) RB. Neilson (Morrison) CB. Hobbs (Brown/Morrison) CB. Tunchev (Brown/Morrison) LB. Mattock (Berner/Powell) RM. Oakley (Gradel/Adams) CM. King (Astrit/Verma/Adams/Berner) CM. Wellens (Same as Previous) LM. Dyer (Gradel/N'Guessan/Adams) ST. Fryatt (Dickov) ST. Howard (Dickov) Am pretty confident Cleverely will be returning and if this Reims player joins along with Lita I think we could well be pushing for play offs. And ffs stop whining about the attack, NP knows what he's doing, we don't need to splash out for a good player. If we did we would probably end up buying someone who is here for the money and not 100% commited to our club, I'd rather have someone with half the talent but double the commitment. Be patient.
Jon the Hat Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 He was quality last season!! You are thinking of Bergilt.
AyewJoking Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Our signings dont impress me. We're dipping our toes into championship water rather than diving in and making a big splash. I think Mandy will only cough up serious dough in January either to strengthen a sinking ship or fuel a promotion push. Far be it from me to poo poo a campaign before a ball has been kicked but the sinking ship option is far more likely.

Be patient. your right when u say that fryatt will do well ,most fans think he will do no good because he wasnt good in 07/08 but he has improved since then but we might need a new striker ,i think that NP wants all the strikers to fight for there place i dont thik hes really intrested in getting anyone replaced but not sure, ...i want king wellens and oakley to play but i also think we need to give n'guessan a chance i think he wants the players to try hard for a place in the team (accept chris weale..i hope),but i thik its stupid if we wanna buy simeon jackson when we got a 32 league 1 goal scorer(fryatt) and a 15 goal scorer in league 1(howard)because i think if simeon jackson only gets 21 goals in league 2 hows he gonna be a 20+striker in the championship...and i hope we can atleast get to the play offs

Daggers Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 I think Mandy will only cough up serious dough in January either to strengthen a sinking ship or fuel a promotion push. I don't reckon he'll do that. The man is on board until he can find a buyer, he's never going to "cough up serious dough" and anyone thinking that is the case is deluding themselves.

Ultra Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 It will be well above that figure by the end of the season..
Daggers Posted 24 July 2009 Posted 24 July 2009 He already has Has he? Or has he simply taken out loans secured against the club?
