Obviously we can only go off what we have seen so far of players and their reputations!! The major changes so far: This year... GK: Weale GK Backup: Logan RB: Neilson RW: N'Guessan CM: Wellens Last year... GK: Martin, Bunn, Stockdale etc GK Backup: Henderson RB: Gilbert RW: Cleverly CM: Davies Obviously the comparison has more holes in it than Swiss cheese (Cleverly and Davies never played together), but you get the idea.

Centre mid is stronger with the addition of wellens, the wings we have back up (and i still get a feeling Cleverly will still be here). I'm nervous about between the sticks never seen weale play(doesn't mean he's poor) but never been impressed with logan. So i guess we may be a tad weaker in the keeping dept.

With mumerings of other signings, both premanent and loan deals, to come, things could change by the day. This would be a good poll to run on the opening day of the season (which is not far off now )
Pricey Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 When you compare like for like I don't think we're any stronger, which isn't great, but hopfully by the time the season starts we'll be sorted!

No. I believe in this post he means we had a stronger team than most of our competitors to challenge for league one title so do we now have a stronger team than our competitors this season?

Going on various info gathered I reckon Weales is a good signing, but I believe NP needs to sign another keeper as back-up, which I think he will do before the season starts, Stockdale would be a good signing IMO. I also think we need to strengthen the forward line. Remember how useless we were without Steve Howard, & that was in the league below where we are now. Big Nige will get things sorted, he doesn't shout his mouth off & gets his man without alerting the media.

Correct, and we definately have a stronger squad than 12 months ago, im surprised anyone would think otherwise.

Logan does have championship experience and although wasn't outstanding, he's good enough back-up imo. Agree about the strikers though, as does everyone, we need at least one more. Howard, an unfit Fryatt, Dickov = one of the weaker strike forces in the championship.

I hate being pessimistic but based upon both Fryatt and Howard's last performances in the championship they weren't that inspiring and if we are relying on these two as our front pair and they don't perform again we're in trouble. Also the fact that Dickhead is clearly past it now despite trying his hardest for us still and we keep hearing reports form fans that Chambers just isn't yet ready for the championship, where are our goals coming from?? We all know that up front is where we need strengthening and I'm sure NP and his staff are doing thier best to put this right before the season starts.

Until we get our loan signings like Cleverly back and new additions up front. But it still pre season. Ive been to 2 pre season games and they look weaker so far.
Tilley Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 I just want to know where our goals are coming from personally. Defense looks solid enough I suppose. Midfield looks pretty much there, although another midfielder probably wouldn't go a miss. Howard isn't getting any younger & Fryatt is injured & pretty much unproven in the Championship. We need two strikers, DJ never got a chance, ever & it seems nailed on that he's going, Dickov is the equivalent of a sick joke, he's fucking awful, Chambers didn't get a chance in League One, so can't see him setting the Championship alight & the younger lads are getting put out on loan. We NEED strikers, desperately.
