MPH Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 We've been speculated with higer priced players...He would be a good player. He also looks like aplayer who can score, which is exactly what we need, to releive the pressure on Fryatt. do you actually mean he looks like he can score as in, he has that twinkle in his eye or you have seen some footage of him?
flanimal Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Does it ever happen when a player goes to a club post-rumour even though they were never interested in the first placce and the rumour was fake? If so, that'd be incredible. Imagine someone making up a rumour - then a week later he signed! If it was me, I'd be getting a lottery ticket that week for sure!
Ozwin Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 If he's anything like Asomoah Gyan then bring him in!
flanimal Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Aside from this being a slightly silly rumour, surely Amoah's wages at Breda are a lot more than anything Leicester could throw at him? I know Breda only has a stadium with 17,000 but they must be richer than us!

The way I understand things in Europe is that the 'crunch' has hit clubs very hard. The Championship is the 4th biggest league in terms of gates. I can't imagine that this guy would be on bigger money than we would pay him. He is at a smaller club. He has been there at least two years. If any so called bigger club than Leicester wanted him, he is almost certainly there for the plucking, and they would have him by now. I really do not know why people think we definitely couldn't get him for the £1.5m people are talking about. Get him in. We got Tunch this way!
Ozwin Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I really hope there's some truth in this. Show's the ambition of the club if we're being linked with players like him.

Just a bit more news on this massive Dutch team who may be richer than Leicester. The word Breda was included in the club name because NAC were so hard up the town council helped them out financially regarding the ground. Their total gates ( cumulative ) last season were 286,000. Our total gates ( cumulative ) last season were 466,000. I know we had more matches, but unless they charged £50 per ticket their income was only a fraction of ours. There is absolutely no way that Amoah would not be earning double his current income with us. But, and I have said it so many times before, we will not sign any striker of that calibre until DJ has gone!
flanimal Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Even though this Amoah business is kind of fishy, like people have said the Tunchev transfer kind of came from nowhere - and we were in League One then - and he was sold for around £500,000. Absolutely shocking good value. It might have some legs, I read more about this 'rumour' on a Ghana News site.
flanimal Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Well, it didn't say anything much different to the other 'sources', but I'll try and find it, hang on...
flanimal Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I think this is it: http://www.modernghana.com/sports/231031/2...-leicester.html The site is currently down, but I swear it's a proper site. Not just a modified MySpace blog.
flanimal Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 And also this: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_4369891,00.html No mention of us in there though. Don't know if anyone knows this, but here is a pointless bit of trivia for you... Amoah has already played at the Walkers Stadium and scored here when the Ghana vs Jamaica match was hosted here a couple of years back. Interesting? Didn't think so.
Babylon Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Well, it didn't say anything much different to the other 'sources', but I'll try and find it, hang on... The whole thing started on football rumours for gods sake. It got posted on Talking Balls, some pleb Leicester fan at Fox sports in Australia read it and started bleating to his work colleagues. They posted a piss take story to wind him and which in turn it ended up on hear. Some randoms in Ghana and someone filling column inches for The Sun read the Fox Sports article, missed the fact it was a piss take and published the story as something news worthy. Now, unless by some miracle the person who wrote it first on football rumours is correct. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN!!!
Unabomber Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 The signing of Matthew Amoah will be announced on the OS at 5pm tomorrow with a press conference on Friday
