Brainy Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 And finally … In honour of the fact that The Championship season kicks off this weekend, live on Fox Sports, we thought it'd be kind of cool to go down a level and tell you of a story involving newly promoted Leicester City. The Foxes are in the hunt (ho-ho) for a striker, and having made a failed bid of $500 plus a rubber band and a slightly hair-and-paper-covered toffee they found in their pocket for Emmanuel Adebayor, they have now turned their attention to Matthew Amoah. The 28-year-old Ghana international is currently with NAC Breda in the Netherlands, and has scored a goal every other game in the past two seasons. $3.5 million will secure his services, as he fancies a spell in English football. All of this proved too much for our resident Leicester fan, who, when told of this development, started waxing lyrical about a return to the Premier League. Football: the game a million dreams are founded on. Rumour Mill rating: 70 per cent; if only to keep our resident Leicester fan happy.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 No doubt Flanimal will already have an idea of how he's going to fit into the side. God I hate modern football sometimes.

Babylon Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Condescending report at the bottom of this article Here Sounds to me like they have a city fan working there and they are just ribbing him.
Bryn Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 One of the least funny things I've ever read, but I've got faith that it was purely to piss off their colleague, in which case it works as an inside joke.
Dan Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 I think we have just found a site less reliable than football rumours, god help us.
Guest Bilo Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Methinks the Aussies should stick to what they're good at and drop the whole 'trying to be funny' thing. Stick to cricket eh lads? Wait..........
flanimal Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 OK, first of all Amoah would be a brilliant a signing, he would pretty much solve all the striking problems in one go. But it will never happen. He's Premiership quality, not a fooking chance he'd drop to the Championship. Awesome player, tough.
FleckneyFox Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 IF we got him it would be amazing. However doubt it will happen.
Hackneyisblue Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 From (I know, I know, I'm sorry) Football Rumours 'Leicester City are poised to make a £1.7 million smash–and–grab offer for Ghana international striker Matthew Amoah. The 28–year–old, who currently plays for Dutch side NAC Breda, has been their top goalscorer two seasons running, and has an impressive strike rate of 1 in 2, having scored 25 goals in 50 appearances for the club. Breda are wanting to cash in on the striker while they can, as Amoah is keen to pursue a career in England having previously played in Germany with Borussia Dortmund. Leicester manager Nigel Pearson is desperate to solve his team's lack of striking options, and as the season draws nearer he is ready to break open the big money for the 5'10
flanimal Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Did you cut some of that off? Anyway, £1.7m - NO CHANCE! That would be the bargain of the summer, and it's hardly cashing in when it's such a low fee. Maybe it's a typo, and it's meant to read £3.7m - but Leicester are NEVER going to spend £3.7m on anyone! Strange that it's in two sources, if you can call Football Rumours a source, guess one has copied the other.
