Interesting dilema this...

Some on here are willing to forgive and forget DJ's alleged sins against our club provided he puts in a shift on Saturday, stays onside, and score goals.

Others feel he has a bad attitude and would rather us let him rot and fork out £3m+ for Jermaine 'I'm an angel' Beckford.

It's amazes me how quickly panic sets in. We don't know the extent of Howard's and Waghorn's injuries or if Fryatt is a doubt for Saturday whatsoever.

The OS could go a long way to appease fans worries/concerns by providing updates. Even if its to say that the players are currently being assessed and we don't know the timescales just yet. Anything rather than nothing!

As many have said, have a little faith in Nigel Pearson.

Rather give Chambo a run out than DJ!!

Having seen both Chambers and DJ play last night I can not agree with you, Chambers seems to have lost a great deal of his old pace and didn't make a huge impact in the game, DJ has his problems but played well, was quick and determined. I hope Chambers lack of pace and impact is just because of lack of match play but we've seen quick players lose their pace due to a string of injuries in the past.

Needs must, we need a striker and we all know DJ fits the bill, NP will have to make the call and do what's in the best interest of the club.....tough choice!!

So basically you're having a pop at Pearson, the first man since Micky Adams to make us successful in a league. Would you rather Martin Allen back, he liked DJ. :dunno:

How is that having a pop at Pearson? I didn't say Pearson was wrong? Pearson wasn't manager when DJ's problems began. I just don't think the situation has improved for the lad since his comments while at Blackpool and I don't see Pearson as one to pick players who make such comments and who seem to rock the boat if you'll accept such a lazy expression. That doesn't mean he's necessarily wrong.

As for Pearson's managerial success I was as pleased and relieved as everyone else but please don't think about it as "success" other than in bringing us back to a level we'd never previously slipped down from in our entire history.

Pearson will only become a success in my eyes if he achieves promotion from this division although I'll happily accept him building us up as a decent attacking side while taking two seasons to actually win promotion.

Cos more than anything I've become sick of the indifferent players and lack of goals or attacking attitude from our side pre-Pearson. What Pearson has done is bring proper players back to the club and that is a major step forward. At least we're set up to compete now.

Whether he can now throw off the shackles of his seemingly natural caution and actually attack in numbers against good teams even when we get ahead then I'm less sure.

But the signs against Ipswich weren't promising because if we're going to shudder against that lot then we ain't ever going to be attacking against the likes of Middlesbrough, Newcastle and West Brom.

And if we really are going to get out of this division we're going to have to score a lot of goals and to have the confidence in ourselves to take on the best and beat them. I didn't see Ipswich as being anything special other than in our own imaginations. In other words we've got to lift our standards and expectations above those of the rest.

If Pearson does that successfully without using DJ, he won't find me complaining cos I don't give a toss how he goes about it. I've only said he'll need us to score around 75 goals and to prevail against good sides. Endless draws won't win promotion, creditable as some might imagine them.

Pearson has done enough for this club so far for me to trust his judgement on this kind of matter.

If he sees him as a bad apple then so be it.

That worries me more than anything! I've known you trust managers before. :D

It was a fiver to get in and it costs a considerable amount of money for the club to open up the ground, steward it etc. It's never going to be free for season tickets holders and based on the entertainment level I think £5 was perfectly OK, it's less than 2 pints in most pubs. If you want to go and watch free football there's plenty on the park Saturdays and Sundays

<_<

I don't see a problem in the £5 ticket price! I was just giving an alternative solution in response to the lack of attendance at the game, I never said it would work but thought it might be an idea as maybe they could make money back from merchandise/catering.

Very much agree. We are not going to get far in this league playing the plodding 4-4-2 that got us up last year, we were promoted because we had easily the strongest squad in the league and that was always likely to be enough.

That will not be the case this season, we will need to be more innovative and flexible and find ways to use the players to find ways of taking the attack to the opposition.

I was very disappointed we did not go for a win against Ipswich and rather disturbed by our lack of energy second half against Utd. Once they got on top after they scored we fought hard to save the point and I was pleased to see that.

Regarding DJ, to my mind it is all about attitude, specifically the relationship between him and the other players. If this is ok or can be fixed then let DJ play. If, on the other hand, he is disruptive in the dressing room, then he should not be allowed a look in!

I don't know how many times it has to be stated on the forums that city makes no money from the catering as it is sub-contracted out, attendance may have been better if the match had been promoted better.

Sorry i wasn't aware of that. :(

Hold on here people. All of a sudden we are in love with Mr Campbell. Let's not forget this was a reserve fixture. Ok credit he scored two goals but to suggest silly things like he will turn us into champion leagues material is a joke!?

lol

This place never fails to amaze me.

Can anyone that went to the game shed any light on Faye?

Look any good?

From OS

"We are always working at additions to the squad so we will see what happens. It is disappointing to lose players through injury of course but that is what football is about. You have to deal with disappointments as they occur."

French striker Yann Kermorgant impressed in scoring for the Reserves in their 4-1 totesport.com Cup win over Sheffield United on Wednesday night and Pearson said: "We are currently duiscussing one or two options in regard to him and we will see where that takes us."

City's interest in left-back Ibrahima Faye, who also played in that game, is not being pursued.

I don't have a problem with playing DJ on Saturday as long as he works fucking hard to get some respect back from the fans.

He was a bit of a tit, venting his frustrations in public, but at least he vented them in public, and not a social networking website where the majority of fans will be unaware of his thoughts.

Chambo tried hard last night, and I really felt for the lad, but he's some way off first team football at the moment. :(

Sadly, for one reason or another, people could probably have said that about Chambers any time over the last three or four years.

Somehow he's been heading up the driveway to knock on the door of first team football ever since Levein gave him his fleeting debut years ago but that's where he remains to this day.... halfway up the drive as a prospect.

And as the years slip by, what with serious injuries and lack of or limited opportunity, I start to wonder if it will ever happen for him.

He reminds me a bit of Michael Owen. Blessed with genuine pace and talented without question. But somehow in a body that doesn't quite seem tough enough for the long term rigours of high grade professional football.

But I suppose there's still time yet.

I fear that his injury problems have had an effect on that pace. Like I said, he tried last night, but that little burst he used to have wasn't there last night. We did notice him stretching his hamstrings a few times as the game wore on, so hopefully he hasn't lost it, but even if he has, he just needs to work on other areas of his game. Pace isn't everything.

Chambers needs 6 months out on loan, build up core fitness, get 30+ games under his belt in League 2 for example

Then see where we are with him

But is he tough enough for League Two? He's had enough problems in Academy and Reserves football. I'm not sure that three months with the SAS wouldn't be the best thing. Either way I'd just love to see him finally emerge and do himself justice. There used to be an air of expectancy when he got the ball but it seems a long while ago now.

A good run of first team games somewhere has to be better than the occasional reserve game

If he is not tough enough, then so be it.

However I would reckon part of the constant injury problems are due to a lack of match sharpness. He needs a run of games.
