C-man Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 If DJ can't be moved back into the squad now - with three strikers injured - when can he?I know you can't judge on one reserve fixture match, but Kermorgant and Campbell could be Leicester''s best duo. Campbell is as good a finisher as Fryatt, and way quicker; and Kermorgant has a lot to offer that Howard. Both of these guys should be in the squad if the main strikers are unfit. Playing Dickov to make a point is ridiculous, DJ could get us to the playoffs. Please tell me how the fuck you come up with your conclusions. I wonder if NP told Taggart to take DJ off in preparation for the weekend. Personally, I can't see it - just don't think it's NP's style to pick someone who is not proven to be 100% commited.
DanTheFox07 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Lets not get carried away, it is a reserve match after all, Pearson has got to sign kermorgant first! even if he does he Isn`t just gonna walk into our starting line up. Lets hope blackpool break the wage structure and campbell lowers his wage demands to go in order to play first team football.
MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 DJ could turn us into Champions League material to be fair. He's scored twice in a reserve match so we should all change our opinions of him now. It would only be right. I'm still trying to detect traces of irony in that post. Or did you...? Seriously, give DJ a chance against Barnsley. Let him go trigger-happy... with goals. Unleash the beast that is the DJ!
AjcW Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 question is...how would campbell work with fryatt? Cough s****horpe, Cough ....
Ashley Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Why? What's he said now? is F.u.c.k.i.n.g fumein didnt play 2nite had me on the bench K.M.F.T
Edmund Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Well, that's the way DJ can get back in the reckoning, so good to see him scoring. Definitely should be given a chance on saturday with the current striker situation. He is still our player and we are paying him so give him a chance before shelling out. Could be like a new signing. They could have drummed up a hell of a lot more support for this. Bearing in mind that people have complained to the club about the lack of reserve team football/loss of FNF, tonight's showing isn't going to get them changing their minds. That's a shame, as it was a really entertaining game. I don't know how much they were charging for tickets but an idea would be to hand out free tickets to st holders. Im sure they could make a decent whack back on merchandise/catering. Saying that I don't know if that would entail higher stewarding costs etc.

They probably took him off to stop him embarrassing the club by scoring a hat-trick!

Saying that I don't know if that would entail higher stewarding costs etc. It was a fiver to get in and it costs a considerable amount of money for the club to open up the ground, steward it etc. It's never going to be free for season tickets holders and based on the entertainment level I think £5 was perfectly OK, it's less than 2 pints in most pubs. If you want to go and watch free football there's plenty on the park Saturdays and Sundays

Let's not forget this was a reserve fixture. Ok credit he scored two goals but to suggest silly things like he will turn us into champion leagues material is a joke!? A lot of people have short memorys and the last time Campbell played for us in this league he was constantly given off side and quite frankly he was poor. Mr Pearson has stated he only wants people to play for City who want to play for the Club. Campbell has quite clearly stated he doesn't want to play for us. If he can sort his attitude out then yes, he could be a good squad player. However, I believe on his inflated ridiculous wages and silly transfer fee we paid for him he believes he is better than the club...Bigger. I would rather sign Kergomant who sounds promising and play Fryatt and Nguessan up front on Saturday.

davieG Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 looks like we had the better trialists. United's second string went down 4-1 against Leicester City in the Pontins Cup, despite a number of senior players appearing. Haber, Hendrie and Carney were joined by trialists Mark Fotheringham (ex Norwich), Jonathan Fortune (Charlton) and Seb Carole (ex Leeds Utd), but were still unable to overcome an impressive Foxes side. Liban Abdi did get a goal for United but it wasn't enough as United were already down 4-0. The news got worse for the Blades as Lee Hendrie limped off at the end after United had used all their substitutes.

Father Ted Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 I think the fact that DJ was subbed so early could be a sign that he could feature on Saturday...
Thracian Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 People decrying DJ because it was only a reserves match have short memories. Because DJ is our only player with a fairly recent history of scoring goals regularly in the Championship, albeit for Blackpool. And, for a bloke who some blithely say has the wrong attitude, Blackpool seem pretty keen to have him back so that doesn't wash either. DJ might have got pissed off with his lack of first choice opportunity at City - and frankly I can well understand that given the way we went down. But I can't recall him ever not trying either in the first team or the reserves. Furthermore DJ has exactly what we need at this level, pace, elusiveness and the ability to create havoc. If there's a problem is is that of harnessing his abilities to the team pattern because he's not an easy player to read or predict. But then nor is Gradel or N'Guessan. That DJ's never really had chance here has been down to two things - a pelvic injury (which caused some disagreement between player and club so I was told). And our seeming obsession with using Fryatt as first choice or even people like Dickov as second as if Dickov is in DJ's class nowadays - at least from anything I've seen which hasn't been much ever since he arrived! I'm more than happy to be proved wrong but don't think Fryatt will prove especially dangerous at this level whereas DJ would be a nightmare for Championship defenders. Either way I fail to see the sense in having a perfectly good footballer on an expensive contract and not using him. Especially when we have two leading strikers out for a month, another one whose fitness remains suspect, a veteran who's hardly played one decent game for us since he arrived, an unproved and injury prone youngster and the Kermit who few have even seen play at anything but reserves level. For all that though I don't expect any mending of bridges between DJ, the club or some of the fans, even if he does somehow get back in the squad. It doesn't seem to be the way of things. Perhaps that is understandable. People, including football managers, tend to be more comfortable with those they know to be unerringly supportive of them. It may be that DJ has come across as more supportive of himself. And in a football club, which is comparable to a military set-up for its "all for one and one for all" philosophy, that ain't necessarily the required approach.
James. Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 I don't have a problem with playing DJ on Saturday as long as he works fucking hard to get some respect back from the fans.
Babylon Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 Pearson has done enough for this club so far for me to trust his judgement on this kind of matter. If he sees him as a bad apple then so be it.

So basically you're having a pop at Pearson, the first man since Micky Adams to make us successful in a league. Would you rather Martin Allen back, he liked DJ.
carterfox90 Posted 20 August 2009 Posted 20 August 2009 in NP we trust if he plays DJ he will have my backing as long as he has the blue shirt on to be honest if its choice between DJ or dickov then surely the only choice is DJ as dickov has lost what he had when he was first here
