stez Posted 23 August 2009 Posted 23 August 2009 i can't believe you can even ask this, i've worked my fucking arse off for 16 years, and if anything it's getting harder. obviously research is easier, but i spend all my spare time at work and it's harder now than it's ever been, dispite more employees rights and better wages etc, it's still hard, and to even ask this question belittles my achievements.
davieG Posted 23 August 2009 Posted 23 August 2009 Of course but death is getting much harder instead of just letting you go they keep you hanging on in there.
Zingari Posted 23 August 2009 Posted 23 August 2009 good question stating the obvious really, but i'd say life in general is much easier than it was for our parents/granparents etc , most of our problems these days are self inflicted by a want want want culture .
Matt Posted 23 August 2009 Posted 23 August 2009 It is actually, with all the immigrants nicking our jobs

MC Prussian Posted 23 August 2009 Posted 23 August 2009 It's certainly different to the old days, as being an adult working force usually means having to switch jobs more often than some people changed their underwear some hundred years ago. You simply cannot expect (and I also guess hardly anyone is really keen on) working for the same company for years or even decades, like our fathers and grandfathers usually did. A changing marketplace also means a change in the way we work. And to AOWW, Daggers & Co.: Being a teacher doesn't count.

Lillehamring Posted 23 August 2009 Posted 23 August 2009 well, my last job shifted from being moderately hard work, to sitting and posting on foxes talk... then i got made redundant and realised that i was actually pretty much unemployable, which made life extremely difficult... but now i work from home and have a really interesting job doing something i like... and whilst it's not that easy, it's certainly getting easier for me.... thanks for asking
stez Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 Easier compared to when? 2000bc, when adam and eve had it all on a plate. in comparison to then, it's well hard now.
clare Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 2000bc, when adam and eve had it all on a plate. in comparison to then, it's well hard now. Yeah, all they had to do was walk round semi-naked!
stez Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 Yeah, all they had to do was walk round semi-naked! i suppose, to be fair on them, if one looked like brian blessed and the other bella emberg, it would've been quite a hard life, having to see the other nekkid
Tommy G Posted 24 August 2009 Posted 24 August 2009 Teaching is a piece of piss. 15 weeks of holiday a year? Yes please. Guess you will be stuck on 30k for the rest of your life though unless you become some kind of head of dept or headteacher.
