SOCCERROO FOX Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Hard to believe i'm sure but i've actually got a life outside of foxestalk you clueless disabled! Finished your pie yet? It sure was a biggun. With regards to the cricket, this is the worst Australian one day team i've ever seen. They're pretty much on our level now which must be a concern. How have you come to this Conclussion?
Milky Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 How have you come to this Conclussion? You've won three world cups in my time so saying it's the worst Australian side doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad team. This batting line-up isn't a patch on previous teams you must admit. You've got no brutal hitters in the mould of hayden and gilchrist who can take it to an attack, so It looks like an english approach to building an innings, just accumulating and trying to keep wickets in hand for a late dash. Bowling wise, Lee is genuine world class and Johnson and Braken are decent enough. They're the ones getting the batting out of jail, cus the 260 and 249 have been distinctly average scores and certainly wouldn't be enough against a better side than england. We really should've won both these games chasing very gettable scores. You woudn't get away with it against better teams.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 I would say it is more of a level side and a more consitent side. Granted it isn't as good as some we have put out before but you swap Paine and Haddin that would make a big difference. I find it intresting that so many Englishman refer to Lee as world class when he would be our 3rd best quick after Bracks and Mitch in ODI's
Edmund Posted 8 September 2009 Author Posted 8 September 2009 Much rather watch Pro40 domestic games than international 50 over stuff. Did you watch Sussex Vs Nottinghamshire? What an over from Smith. 4 wickets and two maidens in one over including a hat trick.

Not that i need the stats, i'll trust my eyes. His death bowling and accuracy is superior. Plus the pace.
dogadug Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Broad ruled out for the 3rd ODI, but will be back for the 4th I reckon Broad is about the best player we have playing at the moment, his batting abilities are better than some our so called 'specialist' batters, and his bowling is better than any of our bowlers(apart from maybe Anderson). He does have the potential to be as good as Flintoff, but his character needs to be a bit less boring!
Alexikokopops Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 ODIs are guff. MORE TESTS AND TWENTY20!
Edmund Posted 8 September 2009 Author Posted 8 September 2009 ODIs are guff. MORE TESTS AND TWENTY20! Im vice versa on the ODI - Tests front. I do enjoy a good test but I can't sit down all day and watch it. As for twenty twenty I love it. You can't beat a full out slog fest.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 ODIs are guff. MORE TESTS AND TWENTY20! Agreed, ODI's are rubbish now (although I haven't seen many not featuring England so maybe a narrow-minded view). Too much nudging and nurdling and not enough boundaries. Not sure whether batting standards have declined or bowling and fielding standards improved but ODI's don't capture the imagination anymore.
Fox You Forest Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Twenty20 has pushed 50 over cricket past it's sell by date but it's not going anywhere why the BCCI like it so much.
Corky Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Twenty20 has pushed 50 over cricket past it's sell by date but it's not going anywhere why the BCCI like it so much. 50 over cricket, at international level, brings the crowds in.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 I've just looked at the stats and Lee wins on that front. Not that i need the stats, i'll trust my eyes. His death bowling and accuracy is superior. Plus the pace. Bracken at the death 99999999/1000000000
dandannieldanok Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 No Rashid again Awful decision to leave him out again.
davieG Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 Bopara doesn't seem to have justified his selection this summer.
dogadug Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 Bopara doesn't seem to have justified his selection this summer. Bopara's done nothing much for England apart from scoring some centuries against a poor West Indies side. He was terrible in the Ashes, and was rightly dropped at the end, and should surely be dropped again in this ODI series, but who should England bring in instead of Bopara?

The selection policy for this series has been so surreal though that they would probably drop strauss and blunder on with bopra if he had been available for selection
Edmund Posted 9 September 2009 Author Posted 9 September 2009 Great start to the game but slowed down a little. Hope we don't crumble before reaching 200 or we are doomed.
surrifox Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 Lee going for 8 an over Collingwood scratching around wasting overs then getting out
Edmund Posted 9 September 2009 Author Posted 9 September 2009 Lee going for 8 an over Collingwood scratching around wasting overs then getting out He is one of the bowlers who can either be deadly or very expensive. Luckily today has been the latter so far.

davieG Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 We're pretty poor and we'll be lucky to get 200.
