Fez of Mahrez Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 Hmm. Few people here not spotted yet Jamie Redknapp is an absolute moron.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 Hmm. Few people here not spotted yet Jamie Redknapp is an absolute moron. Forgot about that idiot.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 Has Hansen's "you can't win anything with kids" quote actually been proved wrong, though?I'll probably be proved wrong, I just don't think it has. Anyone?! Hmm. Few people here not spotted yet Jamie Redknapp is an absolute moron. I like Redknapp purely for the fact that he has a condition that I like to call "wet eyes".
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 John Barnes is also a special talent. John Barnes - Master of the Autocue
Ultra Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 Has Hansen's "you can't win anything with kids" quote actually been proved wrong, though?I'll probably be proved wrong, I just don't think it has. It was said as a dig at Manyoo when they lost at Villa at the start of the 95-96 season with a team featuring David Beckham, Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers, all of whom were around 19-20 at that time. United ended up winning the double that season, so I guess that Hansen WAS proved wrong.
Ultra Posted 7 September 2009 Posted 7 September 2009 Hmm. Few people here not spotted yet Jamie Redknapp is an absolute moron. But a very well-connected one, hence his presence on Uncle Rupert's payroll..
Uncle Albert Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Yeah, well he still talks shite! This is a brave statement coming from you.
Fosse Boy Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 My ideal punditry team would have to be John Barnes presenting for his slick oratory skills, Lineker and Leonardo to provide the viewer with sexual innuendo every time the camera pans to a woman in the crowd, and Martin O'Neill just because he's a bit of a legend really.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Martin O'Neill has bored me any time he's tried to be a pundit. What he says is true most of the time, he just takes 10 minutes to get there.
leicesterfox86 Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Seeing as I love Sky, Andy Gray and Jamie Redknapp. Quality. Really? Gone off Gray big time in the last couple of years. As for Redknapp, when does he ever say anything of note?
SystonFox Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Really? Gone off Gray big time in the last couple of years. As for Redknapp, when does he ever say anything of note? when he waffles about Franky Lamps ; fecking bums the bloke. annoying. my fave is Ron Manager off The Fast Show!
TrickyTrev Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Hmm. Few people here not spotted yet Jamie Redknapp is an absolute moron. Exactly. Alan Hansen does at least want to get into the technicalities of defending from time to time, rather than just showing videos of what happened and supplementing them with inane comments like "you gotta say the lad has done well there." You'd like to think that expert commentators, who have played at a high standard and been privy to the ins and outs of professional football, might be able to provide an enlightening or fresh look at what you are watching. Instead they usually spout mundane shite than your nan could work out. If punditry were not such an old boys club we might actually have a footballing culture that is something closer to aware of the tactical nuances of the beautiful game. Jonathan Wilson who writes for the Guardian is very good, as is Gabrielle Marcotti who (used to?) write for The Times. But they are more journalists than pundits. Whoever said Jimmy Armfield is spot on, very intelligent and knowledgeable. Controversially I even think that David Pleat is unfairly treated at times, he does himself no favors by making up entities known only to himself like he Dutch forward Nistelrooy and The Republic of Czechoslovakia, but unlike anyone else who does Champions League converage in this country he displays a modicum of interest in European football outside of our 'big 4.' The Soccer Saturday boys are good for a boozy afternoon giggle, its a light hearted show and that is fine. Not Kamara though, just a ****.

I really hope Leonardo ****s up the Milan job so we can see a bit more of Lawro and Linekar's outrageous flirting at the Wolrd Cup.
TrickyTrev Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 when he waffles about Franky Lamps ; fecking bums the bloke. annoying.my fave is Ron Manager off The Fast Show! Both Redknapp and Ian Wright use their pundatory positions to peddle the careers of their family members. To be fair to Frank Lampard he doesn't really need it, but there was a time under Sven when there was a ridiculous clamour to get SWP in the side despite his rather obvious shitness. I'm pretty sure that the fact that the BBC spent most of their coverage bigging him up contributed to this.
Fosse Boy Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 I really hope Leonardo ****s up the Milan job so we can see a bit more of Lawro and Linekar's outrageous flirting at the Wolrd Cup. I can't find footage anywhere of the clip where Lineker says something about two Swedish beauties in the crowd, then Leonardo says something like "maybe they need a Brazilian". I remember cracking up at the time.

Fosse Boy Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Cheers. Not quite as funny as I remember it but still worth a chuckle.
C-man Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 I'm a huge fan of Alan Hansen. Bob Wilson used to be a hero when I was 8.
lildave3 Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Bob Wilson used to be a hero when I was 8. Him and Jim Rosenthal on Renford Rejects!
Anish Posted 8 September 2009 Posted 8 September 2009 Bob Wilson was my favourite presenter when I was a kid too, much better than Lynam. Wilson's autobiography is a fantastic read too - he's a top man and has been through a lot in his life. As for the punditry, Hansen is by far the best. His tactical knowledge is second to none. Lee Dixon isn't too bad either - certainly the best of the newcomers.
dogadug Posted 9 September 2009 Posted 9 September 2009 Gotta be Jeff Stelling - the mans a legend, hosts 1 of the few decent things on SKY, as Soccer Saturday would be shit without him
