Ric Flair Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 I personally think we need 8 signings and listed below are my 8 i'd like us to sign and the approximate cost of these players. I think it's feasible and with this team we'd have every chance of promotion next season. Paul Gerrard - Free transfer + £5000 a week = £250,000 Paul Henderson - Free transfer + £3000 a week = £150,000 Darren Kenton/Momo Sylla - Free transfer + £6/7000 a week = £350,000 Darren Ward (Millwall) - nominal fee + £5000 a week = £300/350,000 Richie Partridge - free transfer + £5000 a week = £250,000 Jamal Campbell-Ryce - £200,000 + £3500 a week = £375,000 Lee Miller - £400,000 or (£200,000 + Matt Heath) + £4000 a week = £400/600,000 Matt Jansen - Free transfer + £8/9000 a week = £450,000 That comes to £2,775,000 top whack. Matt Jansen is a dodgy one, so add in there a striker that you could get for £500,000 including wages and your laughing. I still think Jansen can come good again, better option than another unproven striker. I think if you add those together with the current crop of players and wages, it will be well within our budget. Getting rid of Wright and Heath will save us a couple of hundred thousand and I still think clubs might pay abit of money for Heath as he's played a number of games in the premiership and championship. I challenge anyone to find 8 players with that amount of money that will better our team. Sweet as a ****in nut.
robhulse4england Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 there all nobodys or has bins! Darren Ward is a class act and is off to Norwich and paul gerrard wants to stay at forest! these are poor suggestions because we need better more exiting players. Lets aim high and get realistic!!

Lets aim high and get realistic!! 107791[/snapback] **** off you illiterate twat. Gerrard doesn't want to stay at Forest. Kenton and Sylla are both well under 30. Ward isn't necessarily off to Norwich that's a rumour. Partridge is 24 and if you've ever seen him play you little ****er you'd know how good he is. The same with Jamal Campbell-Ryce, they aren't nobody's they have come from big clubs (Liverpool and Charlton) but haven't made the garde and we should get them, like we have done with Hughes and McCarthy. Lee Miller is 21, hardly a has-been and hardly a nobody considering his call-up to Scotland. Jansen might be a has-been but at 27/28 he still has life left in him. Bollocks to you, that's what I say.

Do you expect us to go out and sign, Ronaldinho or what?
Muz Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 Id take all of those signings Hoof. Jansen is a risk but its a risk worth taking IMO.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 I think Partridge has just signed a new contract with Liverpool and might only be available on these fashionable season-long loans which Levein isn't keen on.
robhulse4england Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 good spelling of garde (grade), hoof you illiterate git!! i think we shouyld be looking at people like jim magilton or stephen hughes from coventry people who know this division and have experience. ive been a season ticket holder for 7 years and im only 16 so i think i have the right to say what i like because iv never missed a game in this time. Sorry if i offended you in anyway but that was my opinion and i thought thats what this website is about!!

You've contradicted yourself there though by saying we don't want has-beens and then you mention the tender aged Jim Magilton at 36. Behave laddo, it's a good job your not the City manager with suggestions like that. Why would we want another short term fix that we'd have to replace again in a season? We've just done that for 2 seasons and Levein wants to change that, have you been asleep for 2 years? Watching Leicester does that to you.

If you do choose to call someone illiterate at least get your own grammar and spelling correct. Edited to correct my grammar

Simon Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 I like those signings Hoof. I think Jansen's maybe worth a pop, but all four strikers (De Vries, Connolly, Dublin, Jansen not to mention if we signed Miller) would then be worth quite a lot and all vying for two (or even on occasions one) first team positions so I think we're better off finding another youngster. I dont actually think that much of Paul Gerrard and I dont think we'll actually go in for him (We have already shown interest in Douglas and Henderson). Other than that though Hoof, I like the cut of your jib!

Leicester_Mad Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 all relatively good signings if we could get them. Cant see Kenton joining if Southampton come down as they have seen he can do a job at this level! Sylla would be good and Gerrard would do it for me in goal! Doubt Ward would join here as Millwall are as if not more likely to get playoffs next year...but that depends on there new manager (Harry bassett anyone?). I doubt we will see many Englishman or many players from English clubs come here though?
Scow Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 I don't rate Gerrard, he's a bit poo. Despite Forest keeping a clean sheet against us last time we played them, he didn't impress me. Looked very indecisive. Then again, I would prefer him to Douglas...

Campbell-Ryce and Partridge on the wings would be lethal. Matt Jansen hasn't hit any real form for years, too much of a bargain, especially on them wages Partridge, we mention him all the time but he always seems to stay at Liverpool yet he never plays, apparently the only reason Richie Partridge has got to stay there all this while is because he's married to Owens sister! He'll be loaded by now and he's done next to nothing

Nationwider Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 Gerrard Darren Kenton and Momo Sylla - yes to both Darren Ward (Millwall) - Deffo. Surprised he's not been mentioned more. Quite a hard b*****d, as I recall. Richie Partridge - yup Jamal Campbell-Ryce - yup Lee Miller - don't know him enough to comment. Matt Jansen - possibly damaged goods now??? Pretty good shopping list. I'd add Kazim-Richards to that lot.
Chandler Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 Well thought out list Hoof. And who would you bring in as manager?
Anish Posted 13 May 2005 Posted 13 May 2005 Partridge, we mention him all the time but he always seems to stay at Liverpool yet he never plays, apparently the only reason Richie Partridge has got to stay there all this while is because he's married to Owens sister! Who ate all the pies? Posted 14 May 2005 Posted 14 May 2005 well for me Simonensen(sp) - from stoke won't cost loads and is class well worth a bid. Hutchinson - Darlo has been injuerd but is a great centre back and young (also Darlo owe us something for the dross we signed off them under Little, Lee Ellison anyone...I ask you) Kazim-Richards - Sounds class and worth a dig. I agree with Campbell-Ryce he would be an excellent signing and scare defences. I agree with Chainsaw Boyd sounds like a class signing and he can't stop scoring. Other than that I think Kenton and Baird from southampton and a bid for Tyson from Wycombe. They wouldn't cost a lot and gives us a strong squad.
Craig Posted 14 May 2005 Posted 14 May 2005 Well for me i think we could do worse than getting... Greg Halford (Colchester) A defender who can play upfront and in midfield if necessary, he's only 20ish and he's a regular in the Colchester team. Heard very very good things about this lad and i think he'll be playing at a higher level very soon. Sam Parkin (Swindon Town) A big striker, he's not skillfull but he knows where the goal is and with 23 this season and 25 goals last season, he's nothing short of prolific. Surely worth a go at Championship level? Only in his early 20's too Richie Partridge (Liverpool) For the same reasons that everyone else is giving. Darren Kenton (Southampton) He's a bit hit and miss, but when he's hit, he's good Kris Commons (Trees) Massive amount of potential, has had it since he was at Stoke and i rated him then. Definately worth a shot i think, a gem in a pool of mud at Forest.
