bigneville Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 Weale - 7 - Solid again. Struggling to fault him, but didn't have much to do. Only beaten by a quality strike. Neilson - 7 - Made one excellent tackle to stop a sure fire goal, when the ball was missed by both centre halves. But still looks like he is really struggling and doesn't inspire me with any confidence. With Morrison making his mark at centre back, I'd really like to see some competition for the right back slot arrive in Jan. Hobbs - 6 - Looked like he was still carrying an injury to me, wasn't his normal confident performance. But even on an off day, still dealt with anything Swansea had to offer. Clearly looked like he had confidence issues in passing the ball to Morrison though. He always seemed to want to play the long ball forward, rather than pass it square to his colleague. Morrison - 7 - Solid again. Making a real battle for the centre half slot, and on this performance I expect to see him start there again against Ipswich next Sunday. McGivern - 6 - Didn't fill me with confidence, and always seemed to get beat to too easily for me. Against any winger with some real skill or flair, McGivern really seems to struggle. Hopefully Berner gets fit and quick. Oakley - 5.5 - Didn't really do anything today and was rightfully subbed. I can barely remember him touching the ball. Wellens - 7.5 - Was everywhere again, and another display of quality distribution play. Sometimes is far too inteligent and quick thinking for many others in the side. Pulled all the strings again, and really looks like he is enjoying playing alongside Andy King King - 7.5 - After struggling early on with the 4-5-1 formation of Swansea, he settled into a another solid game at this level. Kept it simple and worked hard as per usual. His work-rate allows Wellens to be the play-maker, making them a very fluid midfield pair. A solid game rounded off with a decent strike for the goal. I did doubt King early on in the season, but with performances like this, he's certainly started to impress me at this level. Dyer - 5.5 - Did absolutely nothing today. Wasn't aware on several occasions of what was going on around him, and tried to beat the defender for strength too many times, losing out nearly every time. Rightfully substituted, I would be suprised to see him start next weekend after that poor performance today Howard - 6 - Not a great day for Howard, and was certainly over-shadowed by Kermongant. But as always, gave his everything for the team, but it just wasn't his day. Fryatt - 6.5 - After putting lots of effort in against Sheff Utd, it seemed the opposite to me today. No sky camera's no effort springs to mind. In a game where strikers where going to have to work for chances, Matty didn't really put the effort in for long periods of time or read the game very well. However, he finally passed in the final third and created the King goal. He needs to learn that when its not going to be a day of plenty of chances, he really needs to work hard for the team to create them. Subs Gallacher - 7 - Offered more in the first two minutes he was on the pitch than Dyer did for the whole game. Showed composure at the end, and tried to create things in the final third. Did himself no harm with the performance today Kermongant - 7.5 - Was a nuisance to the Swansea back-line and got the reward for a brilliant header on the second goal. Looked lively and gave something different when it was needed. N'Guessan - 6.5 - He didn't actually do anything but score for me. Got himself into some good positions but never received the ball. Wasn't his fault he didnt receive the ball, but his patience was rewarded with a great header to score. Manager - 8 - Got it wrong initially by giving Swansea too much time on the ball, but soon amended this and made two great substitutions. Another master-stroke from NP.

Joe. Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 Weale 7 - Without seeing a replay it's difficult to tell, but it didn't look like he could do much for the goal. Made some good saves at 1-0 down to keep us in the game. Neilson 6.5 - Going forward he's very poor, one of the worst crossers of the ball I've ever seen, but as I've said before I'd like my defenders to defend first and foremost. And for today he did that well enough for me, particularly the brilliant challenge to avert danger in teh goalmouth scramble. He's often isolated on the right hand side, unfair for a player of his attacking abilities. Hobbs 6.5 - A little wayward with his ball control and distribution, but was solid enough in the middle. Morrison 7 - Another good display from him, it's nice to see him playign so comfortably in the Championship. Wayne Brown has a difficult task of dislodging him at the moment. McGivern 5 - Still unconvicing and very awkward for me. Some dreadful touches throughout the match which went absolutely nowhere, but he's still getting back to full match fitness so I'll reserve full judgement for now. His defensive positioning does worry me from what I've seen, however. Oakley 5.5- Not the best of games for him today from what I can remember. Got himself booked for a pretty silly challenge. King 7 - Out of every player on our team you'd want him on the edge of the box ready to rifle the bal home, and he duly delivered once more. Wellens 7.5 - One of the better players of an otherwise drab first half for us, he seemed to be the only one willing to attempt anything creative. Not helped at all by the lack of movement in the first half, he was my standout player from the off today. Dyer 3 - Dreadful. Painfully predictable, seemed to be completely clueless on the ball. Sheffield United should have been a great platform for him after such a positive match, but it seems that good games are too few and far between for Dyer. N'Guessan would be a better permanent option for me. Howard 5.5 - Looked a little uninterested and off the pace, but won most of what came his way today. Headers rarely found their man though, unlike Kermorgant when he arrived. Fryatt 6.5 - Was left to feed off scraps for most of the match, but got himself another assist and looked tidy on the ball. Subs: Gallagher 6 - Encouraging performance, looked lively when he came on. Kermorgant 7.5 - Changed the game in his 15 minutes on the pitch, doing everything Howard can do but much better. Brilliant assist for N'Guessan's winner. N'Guessan 7 - Can only have touched the ball two or three times but came off the bench yet again to score a header. An extremely useful weapon to have coming off the bench for weary backlines, although I can't help but feel he should be starting more often.

Changes paid dividends too at thefinal whistle. WEALE- 7.259 Not at fault for the goal, and played well overall. Made some smart stops, commanded his box well, acted well as sweeper when needed McGIVERN- 6.8 Solid enough game, not a lot to say HOBBS- 6.8 Pretty solid again. Swansea mainly threatening from long range. dealt with second half threat comfortably MORRISON- 7.2 Best of the defenders certainly in terms of distribution, and defended with solidarity NEILSON- 6.3 He was a steaming pile of shite and cant pass. Scottish, rubbish, and hairy OAKLEY- 6 Piss poor from the captain who was never involved in anything KING- 6.9 Took his goal really well, and had a good chance before that which sprung De Vries into a very smart double save. However other than that, he was his largely anonymous usual self WELLENS- 7.1990 Played well when playing short balls and in short triangles, trying to play the killer ball often as well which is nice to see. Ball retention could be better, but lots of energy DYER- 6 Didnt do anything all game of any note and had no quality whatsoever to his play HOWARD- 6 Ditto Dyer. totally anonymous, completely devoid of quality, poor game FRYATT- 7 Put plenty of effort in running in the channels and chasing lost causes, but had a minimum of chance in front of goal unfortunately, not that it mattered in the end DNG- 6.794646467856575990083838374765669609097727464758590675634638- Scored the goal that put us in the hat with the chance to draw another plum team like S****horpe or Southampton or anyone else likely to produce a boring game in the freezing cold GALLA- 6.5 Most technically gifted player in the squad, limited impact today though KERMIT THE FROG - 6.5 Plenty of aerial ball wins which was nice to see, good technique SOUSA'S SUIT- 10 Very Dapper CROWD- 3.98 The magic of the FA cup reached Leicester in style with a bumper crowd of 12,000. willy37 Posted 2 January 2010 Posted 2 January 2010 mediocre all round. very dull and lifeless performance Both full backs were shocking, attacking and defending, the long haired scot just about gets my vote for the worst Personally Kermogrant did more in the time he was on the pitch than anybody else. So glad he played a part in winning the game cuz he really impressed me. just still waiting for his 1st goal!!!!

ob1kanobe0 Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Weale - 7 England's No.3 for 2010 Neilson - 6.5 Hobbs - 6.5 a few very good interceptions to stifle swansea attacks. Morrison - 7 McGivern - 5 there is no greater moment in a footballers career than McGiverns to have a kit-kat. Oakley - 5.5 i think mcgivern should give oakley a bit of his kit-kat. Wellens - 7 King - 7.5 poor to average first few months of the season, but king kong is getting back to what we know he can do. Dyer - 6 a little bit like after the Lloyd Mayor's show. Howard - 6.5 he actually used his legs more than he likes to. Fryatt - 7 Subs Gallagher - 6 SHOOT, you have the ability to score. Kermongant - 6 N'Guessan - 6.5 well taken goal. Superman 6.5 considering we started with 3/4 first choicers on the bench/ill, he did well, in particuly his famous half time motivational skills, because we came out 2nd half and immediately put Swansea on the back foot.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Weale - 6 - Did what was needed, sometimes scrambles after things which leaves my bumhole flapping. Neilson - 7 - Attracts unfair criticism in my view. Not half as bad as he's made out, great goal saving challenge. Hobbs - 7 - Did everything that was required, kept the Swansea attack quiet. Morrison - 7.5 - Impressed, good composure, positioning and aerial ability. McGivern - 5.5 - Got raped once or twice in both halves, can't seem to cope with people running at him, and any decent forays into the Swansea half were sooon cut short with the lack of ability to make the right pass. Oakley - 5 - Did nothing of note, and was booked for a very stupid challenge. Wellens - 6.5 - Put himself around a bit but was ultimately over shadowed by King. King - 7.5 - Beautifully taken goal, carries the ball well in the middle of the pitch, and most of the time plays the simple - and right, pass. Dyer - 4 - Ran into brick walls pretty much all day. Howard - 5 - Poor. Fryatt - 6.5 - Good assist for King, manages to keep the ball tight to his feet in possession and is always playing on the shoulder of the last man, looking for any wary back passes. Subs Gallagher - 5 - Decent set piece for the goal, other than that they were nothing short of woeful, nothing special, but not too bad. Kermongant - 8 - How anyone could mark Howard above Yann today is beyond me. He did more in fifteen minutes, generally looked hungry, won every single aerial ball he challenged for (even when he had no right to), and set up the winner. His leap for N'Guessan was phenomenal. N'Guessan - 6.5 - Didn't really touch the ball but a cooly taken header gets you a 6.5. Would've liked to have seen Adams at some point or other, but that was never to come.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 January 2010 Posted 3 January 2010 Weale - 7 - Beaten by a quality strike, one good save from long range not much to do in 2nd half. Neilson - 7 - Another steady game, and ever improving. One saving last ditch tackle from him in the 2nd half. Hobbs - 6.5 - Looked shakey, and his dristribution was poor. Looked OK overall. Morrison - 7 - The most threatening defender we have and he is the only one from the back line who can pass a ball. McGivern - 6.5 - Does well in winning headers but doesnt give me as much confidence as Berner. Oakley - 6.5 - Not as good as he has been lately, but still tried hard, good decision to take him off. Wellens - 7 - Has looked good in the lst few games again, always tries the killer ball and really got stuck in with the tackles. King - 7.5 - As the game went on he played better and seemed to get to grips with their style of play. A lot of defensive work and gets forward more too. Dyer - 6.5 - I dont think he got enough of the ball but when he did he looked dangerous. Right to be taken off. Howard - 6.5 - Battled hard and gave everything but with no reward. Fryatt - 7 - Did well for the first goal I thought he wouold be greedy as always and shoot but no he passed it. Not any real chances that went his way. Subs Gallagher - 7 Kermongant - 7.5 N'Guessan - 7
