Well I thought if you'd be there, you'd already know. Thought the bottles of Becks being thrown in to the air and landing on those further forward was a bit harsh... I know how to enjoy a goal, thought that was maybe a bit too far? Not seen any flying beers at any of the aways I've been at since :dunno:

i can't remember any bottles getting thrown......

can think of worse things to get hit by than a plastic bottle though to be fair

i'll probably get slated by the older more 'mature' members on here, but it's just pissing about!

thats what away days are meant to be, going to a game in another city getting a few beers down you and just having a laugh being a bit lary and

fucking about.

i can honestly sit here and say that if i got hit by a plastic bottle during a goal celebration i wouldnt even think twice about it, i'd probably think it was funny.

i'm quite shocked by the amount of lads that are on here saying stuff about sitting and danger.... my generation must be the softest one yet

I'm the same. I dislike the views on football matches by the majority of our generation.

They were glass bottles (hence the Becks comment) I'm not being soft, but I wouldn't want to be under one of those... Plastic, yeah fine, whatever.

Oh and probably the main reason I don't particularly support standing at home, is that if anyone did get injured through the fault of someone standing, the club would be massively liable for their injuries and not complying with Hillsboro' regs - legal nightmare. And let's face it, we don't exactly have the money to shell out to lawyers or pay out to someone who got hurt, right?

Glass bottles being thrown down a stand when we scored??

mate come on, who are you trying to kid?

there would have been a bigger thing made about glass bottles being thrown down a stand.....

and you also must have amazing eyesight to spot what material a bottle is being thrown over your head while celebrating a goal

the bottles they sold in the ground were plastic.... so unless they were snuck in from outside? and i remember being searched quite vigorously

i cant help but think your telling porkies mate to make it sound like the celebrations at Fulham were a bit over the top....

which i personally dont think they were

Oh and anyone on here saying that standing is dangerous

so we are going to get rid of everything in this country that is slightly dangerous??

how boring would that be?

i think some lads off here need to get them selfs down to Bottle Kicking on easter monday, get involved and realise they aren't made of glass

and that pain is only temporary!

Don't particularly need you to believe me, I know what I saw. Was stood back row but one, to the left of the FT flag and someone, in celebration (nothing malicious) threw a bottle up in the air. Was probably a spur of the moment, not thinking thing, but it was still pretty crazy. Why would I bother making stuff up? Nothing cool about an anonymous stranger telling another anonymous stranger a lie is there?

Oh and also, I did say the celebrations weren't that crazy, it was an example of a minor crush (like I said). People were standing across the aisles and when we got our second, the whole back few rows went mental.

As a once young Simon 'Ched' McCarthy told me 'The time I have to sit at football is the time I shall stop going'

This is oh so true in my eyes. Cant be doing with the sit down happy clapping.

Look I'm not getting involved in the standing seating debate, I shouldn't have replied. For the record I would rather stand but it's something which doesn't irritate me enough to get angry over on a forum.

If it's that much of a deal why don't people get together in a large group and protest outside the Walkers. Stand up and be counted. You can complain all you like on foxestalk but f all will be done about it.

That is why I am on the FCC; I do like to remind the club that some of us like to stand. I have also signed up to standupsitdown, but because of my studies, I can't devote as much time on their campaign as I would like, but once qualified, I would like to offer my services to the cause, from a legal capacity.

I have also attended all of the open meetings that City has held on the subject.

I'm thinking of getting a flask, can anyone recommend a good one?

Boots has a lovely gift pack in their sale, half price. A nice flask, with a trendy retro design, and a scarf. Bargain.

Actually, if someone was injured through standing, the club could waive any responsibility. The club does state in its small print that standing is not permitted, and they employ stewards to try and clamp down on standing. For example, point 13 in the season ticket states "persistent standing is not permitted within the WS during play as it may compromise your safety disrupt the view of fellow supporters, and might endanger the club's safety certificate that is required to allow supporters to attend matches. Any supporter guilty of persistent standing is liable to immediate rejection and immediate withdrawal of season ticket without compensation".

This would show that the club takes a strong line against standing, and so they cannot accept responsibility for the actions of supporters who disregard the rules. That would mean that the persistent stander is liable for any damages.

To flip the issue, if someone who was standing voluntarily was injured, they would have no comeback because of ex turpi causa (if you're breaking the rules, then tough shit).

I have always preferred to stand, I can stand at home games because I'm located at the back of the kop and the stewards don't bother with us as we aren't blocking anyone's view. I think, personally, it was knee jerk reaction to introduce all seater stadia after Hillsborough, standing was only a partial reason as to why the disaster happened and standing can be safe if administrated sensibly.

I'd like the option to stand, I don't want to be treated like a scumbag because I want to watch a game of football.

As if people have now been mentioning OTT goal celebrations and surges lol

I really hope you don't end up near me at a an away when a goal is scored. Only yesterday pulled myself off the floor after celebrating Max's equaliser at MK Dons.

Fox92 do you have rickets or something? Most lads your age love standing, bit of banter and that. You come across like some middle-aged bobble hat.

I didn't say that I don't love standing. I like to stand it's ok, but at most grounds now you sit, so I don't mind. I think that's what I said.

Ive just realised... weve got it all wrong, 92 is his age, not the year he was born.

Totally agree. The "safe standing" idea that the germans use looks a cracking idea to me and would love to see it used here. Unfortunatly i cant see if ever being debated in goverment

Just because there are seats there doesn't mean you have to use 'em.

I see you've been to QPR, Forest, S****horpe and Sheff United this season. Out of interest where were you? Did you stand? As the vast maority of our ends did at all 4, and Forest and QPR everyone did as I remember, didn't you enjoy those 2 more, feel closer to the game?

*yes I do realise there was nothing to enjoy about Forest until climbing onto a train with AFIE*

True say.

If stewards applied a little bit of common sense every now and again we wouldn't have half the problems we have. Middlesbrough away this season instantly springs to mind.

I can't really take credit for that can I? It's our fellow passengers you have to thank really...
