Asha Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Preston it was unreserved seating and was still made to sit Then why not move further upwards dude? There were HUNDREDS of empty seats high up.
Dan Posted 12 January 2010 Author Posted 12 January 2010 We were at the back at Middlesbrough and stood, although there were only about 4/5 rows worth standing. I wasn't too far from it, but I'm amazed anyone who went all that way to Middlesbrough on a Tuesday night sat in silence.
lildave3 Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 No, but I can guarantee it accounts for a high number of it, to be fair. As well, if the club is 50-50 on wanting to stand and sit, then I can't see all the standers being on this forum, and all the sitters not, it shouldn't make too much of a difference from reality.I don't know which aways you've been at then. I've been to Sheff Utd, Watford, Preston (in the cup), Coventry, Forest, Middlesbrough and S****horpe. Sheff Utd and Preston it was unreserved seating and was still made to sit, Watford we virtually all sat, Coventry I was fortunate enough to be back but one row, meaning I was in the 10% that stood (Thats embarrassing for a derby), Middlesbrough and S****horpe I was near the back and had to sit, and Forest we virtually all stood. It just seems that a majority of the fans want to stand, but it turns out a majority sits. Have you just been sitting at the front every game? I, and many others, have stood for every away game this season.
Dan Posted 12 January 2010 Author Posted 12 January 2010 Then why not move further upwards dude? There were HUNDREDS of empty seats high up. Suppose, but I'm not sure it would of made a hell of a lot of difference, I saw some stewards trying to get people to sit who were further up.
RowlattsFox Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Stand but if I have to sit then Im not really bothered.
Dan Posted 12 January 2010 Author Posted 12 January 2010 Have you just been sitting at the front every game? I, and many others, have stood for every away game this season. No I haven't, most of the time I've been around the middle, towards the back. S****horpe I was just badly placed, even the back row sat where I was, yet I saw a block near to me where they all stood.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Standing at Posh last year was a first for me and it was great. Standing everytime. And this way you dont get your seat kicked by some little bugger all the way through.
Ashley Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Standing. The stewards in N Block are really starting to piss me off now
ousefox Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Prefer to stand but don't mind sitting down if everyone else is and people behind me are. It annoys me when people stand when they know there are loads of people behind them sitting down and they know they are obstructing peoples views.

Like that complete utter dick at Scunny!
Guest DavidJCW Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 I'd have to agree with general consensus that it is fine to stand but sit when you get too tired... standing for 90 minutes through a really crap match is very difficult!
Simi Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 I have never sat at a game. The only time I did was perhaps for the last 20 minutes of the first half at Huddersfield. If I was to go to a game and everyone was sitting and there was no chance of standing anywhere, I'd probably just walk out to be honest.
Tommeh Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Stand all game every game. Can't actually remember the last game I sat through, probably back in the Kop throught 2005-06 before I moved my ST. Despite many run-ins with stewards at Middlesborough, Charlton, Huddersfield etc. Just depends where we are and who turns up. Last season 5,000 odd at MK ******, there was probably 300 of us tops, then we got to Wallsall on a Tuesday night and all 2,000 stand throughout. We're certainly one of the better clubs for standing at away games.
Shrenchel Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 No, but I can guarantee it accounts for a high number of it, to be fair. It just seems that a majority of the fans want to stand, but it turns out a majority sits. Fair enough. Doesn't really illustrate your point that at the majority of games, the majority sit though. There was a bigger chunk standing than sitting at Sheff Utd, Preston, Forest and S****horpe imo. Seems to prove you have an inability to move to a different area where people are standing like most other people do. I'd have to agree with general consensus that it is fine to stand but sit when you get too tired... standing for 90 minutes through a really crap match is very difficult! What difference does the quality of the match make to how tired you get?! Fvck me, seems some people have never done a real days work in their entire life. Standing up for 90 minutes is about as tiring as tiddlywinks. Hundreds of thousands of people managed it no problem every week before they bashed the seats in.
Sparky Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 I used to love terracing but i know it will never return, i sit in K just below the standers but stand at away games. Peterborough away brought back the memories last year, just a shame we had nothing to cheer about
Shrenchel Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Standing. The stewards in N Block are really starting to piss me off now Yeah what's going on there? They always seem to be proper on it. Bullying little piss stains, if they actually wanted to get rid of standing they're looking in the wrong place. Small pickings for small-time cvnts. Stand all game every game. Can't actually remember the last game I sat through, probably back in the Kop throught 2005-06 before I moved my ST. Despite many run-ins with stewards at Middlesborough, Charlton, Huddersfield etc. Just depends where we are and who turns up. We're certainly one of the better clubs for standing at away games. I wouldn't say we're one of the better teams necessarily. Leeds, Chelsea, Spurs, Man City, Man Utd, West Ham, Sheffield Wednesday, Arsenal, Villa, Boro, Liverpool, Stoke, Sunderland, Cardiff, Newcastle all better than us imo. We aint shit but there's a fair few clubs with our ratios.
samjohnson Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Standing. Theres nothing wrong with it. And it creates a better atmosphere.
Tommeh Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Yeah what's going on there? They always seem to be proper on it. Bullying little piss stains, if they actually wanted to get rid of standing they're looking in the wrong place. Small pickings for small-time cvnts. I wouldn't say we're one of the better teams necessarily. We aint shit but there's a fair few clubs with our ratios. Yeah I meant teams in the championship, with Newcastle and Wednesday the only real every game support, then Boro Cardiff and Swansea with good numbers everywhere then us, Forest, Cov pretty similar in the 3rd bracket. Our standing numbers were certainly much better last season, around 60% with the vast majority at many places. Whether they'd pick up in the PL like Stoke's have I don't know.
LCFC-ARAB Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Having to sit at away games ruins the entire day for me I'd rather not go than sit down I'm a standing exremist
The Doctor Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Prefer to stand but don't mind sitting down if everyone else is and people behind me are.It annoys me when people stand when they know there are loads of people behind them sitting down and they know they are obstructing peoples views. that annoys me actually. There will always be at least one grumpy old man sat behind you who refuses to stand meaning you have to sit all game or he'll complain to the stewards. Just F' off and sit with the prawn sarnie brigade or the families.
Ashley Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Yeah what's going on there? They always seem to be proper on it. Bullying little piss stains, if they actually wanted to get rid of standing they're looking in the wrong place. Small pickings for small-time cvnts. Theres a mixture of us in N Block, yeh we've got a few young uns in there me being one of them and adults but the stewards seem to pick on the young uns all the time the wankers and never say anything to the blokes like you've said in your post.. If J3, K and L can stand and the away fans, why carnt we?
Daggers Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 that annoys me actually. There will always be at least one grumpy old man sat behind you who refuses to stand meaning you have to sit all game or he'll complain to the stewards. Just F' off and sit with the prawn sarnie brigade or the families. As always - offer to swap places and everyone will be happy
Guest Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Don't ever remember seeing a poll about it on here before. Well, there's this one, and there's this one. The whole issue of standing gets discussed regularly, without a poll, and ends up becoming a slagging off fest between the Kop and L1, with which one is loudest. To cut out the crap, I would just like to say that the Kop can't be heard. Ever. There we go.
Bert Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 After tonight, standing, no children allowed. God bless anyone that sits in the North Stand.
Shrenchel Posted 12 January 2010 Posted 12 January 2010 Yeah I meant teams in the championship, with Newcastle and Wednesday the only real every game support, then Boro Cardiff and Swansea with good numbers everywhere then us, Forest, Cov pretty similar in the 3rd bracket. Our standing numbers were certainly much better last season, around 60% with the vast majority at many places. Whether they'd pick up in the PL like Stoke's have I don't know. I think there would be a bit of an increase first season. Big game feeling and all that. Not sure whether it'd last when lads start getting bored of paying 50 quid to see us get dicked on. As always - offer to swap places and everyone will be happy To be fair, some people seem to have an inexplicable attachment to their allocated seat. I've witnessed some absolutely ridiculous situations of people cutting off their nose to spite their face.
