Tommeh Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Lies. The game was nothing but a meer blip in a splendid day for moi. Sorry I forgot about your binge. Some of us ended up i tears in the loaded dog. Langers dropped my card round earlier btw
acooling08 Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 yes thats right everyone over 50 is unable to stand for 90 mins and brings a flask/cushion and blanket to football matches Around where I sit there's quite a lot of elderly supporters who definately couldn't stand for 90 minutes.
acooling08 Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Totally agree. The "safe standing" idea that the germans use looks a cracking idea to me and would love to see it used here. Unfortunatly i cant see if ever being debated in goverment Enlighten me.
CosbehFox Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Got a West Brom mate who said the same thing has happened there this season, stewards turning into right cvnts since the 'singing section' became a more organised thing. Although, apparently the club have started reserving a block at away games for people who want to sing which they seem to know has resulted in a guaranteed standing block for those that want it but they don't really give a shit. Decent idea that, can't see Leicester going for it though. Best suggestion yet. The poll is completely innacurate really because a lot of LCFC supporters over 50 won't use or even know how to use FT, and I'm sure they'd all vote sitting. But most 50 year olds will have had the experience of being on a terrace, they'd be a good percentage want a bit of it back. Fox92 do you have rickets or something? Most lads your age love standing, bit of banter and that. You come across like some middle-aged bobble hat. Only yesterday pulled myself off the floor after celebrating Max's equaliser at MK Dons. Errr.....I turned into a hooligan who attempted a pitch invasion! Standing and given the chance, I'd wield one of those 20 foot flags with all the vigour of Sonic The Hedgehog hunting some rings. Seriously if you want to see how terraces work, take a trip down Accrington or some where they have an active fangroup. That's what football's about...alright there's a lot of razzle dazzle and all that but lads meet lads and have a laugh. Regardless of result, this is what you should remember. A lad buys a ticket for terrace, he doesn't have to fart about his seat, upset some old dear etc. He just finds his mates amongst.
Fosse Boy Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 Enlighten me. Basically what's meant by "safe standing" is areas like this found in Germany and other countries, which unlike traditional terracing have barriers in front of each row preventing crushing. These areas can also be converted to seating for international matches etc.
Corky Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 I felt Hartlepool last season was our best for standing, virtually everyone was stood up.

These areas can also be converted to seating for international matches etc. They also have ways of control numbers within the 'zones'. Basically though this means hiring a number of staff to actively crowd control for the benefit of the fan and for some reason I don't think the nobheads want that here.
Shrenchel Posted 13 January 2010 Posted 13 January 2010 I didn't say that I don't love standing. I like to stand it's ok, but at most grounds now you sit, so I don't mind. I think that's what I said. Fair enough. Just the whole 'the only people that stand up are chavs who want to abuse the opposition fans' argument is normally espoused by decrepit West Standers.
Raj Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 In the old ground(Pen 2) we used to stand ON our seats!!!!!
lou Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Stand up and support your team. Much as I love standing and always do if alllowed.... I hate this fecking chant, if driving all the way to Middlesboro, Southampton, Tranmere, Brighton etc etc AND forking out for tickets isnt supporting your team then I dont know what is?
Jay Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 In the old ground(Pen 2) we used to stand ON our seats!!!!! ahh them were the days I remember nearly killing myself falling off in a league cup game against Blackburn when we scored in about the 88min! Pierpoint out!! Pierpoint out!! I love standing during the game but do appreciate a nice uncomfy seat to rest my weary legs at half time..( although that makes me sound about 70)

As you say,now that old age has set in,and abit of arthirits in the knees you cant beat a nice sit down!!! Upto the yoof now!!

Fox92 Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I see you've been to QPR, Forest, S****horpe and Sheff United this season. Out of interest where were you? Did you stand? As the vast maority of our ends did at all 4, and Forest and QPR everyone did as I remember, didn't you enjoy those 2 more, feel closer to the game? I did stand at Forest, QPR and S****horpe and I did enjoy those games because away from home the atmosphere is better than at the Walkers.
Simi Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I did stand at Forest, QPR and S****horpe and I did enjoy those games because away from home the atmosphere is better than at the Walkers. Surely that isn't a coincidence that a larger percentage of the support stand away from home?
Fox92 Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 Surely that isn't a coincidence that a larger percentage of the support stand away from home? I know I was just saying though, away from home standing is great because the atmosphere is better, people sing more and all that stuff but at the Walkers its just not the same.... then again, it happens with every side so...
C-man Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 I did stand at Forest, QPR and S****horpe and I did enjoy those games because away from home the atmosphere is better than at the Walkers. I'm sorry but that sentence makes you sound like you've just learnt how to use clauses. Fox92, age 5.
Shrenchel Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 ...but if you go in the area of the ground where everyone stands "the atmosphere is better, people sing more and all that stuff". Rocket science it aint.
Maybes Posted 17 January 2010 Posted 17 January 2010 What was the standing like at Swansea? Pretty poor. I say around 1/4 at most standing. Only 940 fans according to the Swans.
lou Posted 17 January 2010 Posted 17 January 2010 Only a few on the right hand side/middle stood at the back. I had to move twice due to moaners. Why would young lads at the back of a half empty stand insist on sitting down? <_< The stewards were cool about it and said I could sit where I wanted as there were plenty of seats available.
NobbySolano Posted 29 January 2010 Posted 29 January 2010 Deathly. well we'll sing enough for us and you on Sat
