Asha Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Was going to post this in the previous, but I think it's time for the new thread now. And I'll start the thread with this. Ecclestone stating the points system may still be tweaked, before going onto say he would like to see usable shortcuts introduced. Ecclestone also revealed that he had more radical proposals to improve the show - starting with a controversial plan to introduce 'shortcuts' at grand prix tracks that each driver could use for a limited number of times per race."I think it would be very easy for us on each circuit to have an area where you could gain a bit of time so you could overtake - a shortcut if you like - which a driver could use five times during the race, so it would stop people getting stuck behind somebody," he suggested. "It's good for TV, good for the TV commentators, they could talk about somebody having three [shortcuts] left and somebody else having two and what's going to happen and so on." Then he goes on a bit afterwards, decent read. Against the idea personally, but I'm sure it's an idea that hasn't been raised yet
The Stig Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 He really is mad Bernie. If anyone else in the world suggested short cuts it would be laughed out of the room.
Wycombe Fox Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Bernie's been playing on his Wii too much over Christmas. For 2010 expect Moo Moo Meadows at Silverstone and the Mushroom Gorge at Monza. Cockbadger.
JimmyK Posted 15 January 2010 Posted 15 January 2010 Ways F1 would be better: 1. For God's sake change the cars to make them at least a little bit aesthetically pleasing, 2009's cars were horrendously ugly, created by aerodynamic rules that basically failed to achieve any of their aims. I thought tonnes of aero devices looked a lot sleeker than the weird, nose-heavy machines we have now. 2 (well... debatable, thinking about it). Stop trying to limit money being spent, the days of plucky independent teams are over, Brawn's car was designed with Honda's money and faded away notably as the season went on. Besides, I would rather see say... Renault v Ferrari, than United States F1 v Force India. If massive car companies want to waste millions playing in F1, so be it. 3. Use the fuel limit to remove restrictions on the engines. Let them make whatever engine size and configeration they want, just set the fuel limit to an amount that will limit the power they produce to a safe level. Anything that encourages a bit of diversity in the design throughout the grid. I'm sure there's many others I can think of, but I cba for now. Rant over.
Legend_in_blue Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 F1 is already better for this season. Schumacher is back. End of.

Against the idea personally, but I'm sure it's an idea that hasn't been raised yet He says about commentators being able to talk about people having 3 or however many takeover left like that would be a good thing? If that is the case why is it that all of the cars are being fueled to the max at the start, surely that will limit the amount of pit stops and make the commentators have less to talk about.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 16 January 2010 Posted 16 January 2010 He says about commentators being able to talk about people having 3 or however many takeover left like that would be a good thing? If that is the case why is it that all of the cars are being fueled to the max at the start, surely that will limit the amount of pit stops and make the commentators have less to talk about. In my mind, a mistake as well and I expect pitstops for fuel to return in the near future - but we shall see.
Asha Posted 17 January 2010 Author Posted 17 January 2010 I hate the fact there'll be no refueling as well. Takes a lot of fun out of the sport that. In other news.... G'won Felipe. Massa interview
isaidno Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Just booked my overseas F1 trip for the season. I'm going to the Malaysian GP at easter. Got cheap flights and the race tickets are £20 for a 2 day grandstand seat

fatmando Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 Can't wait for this season! Love F1. Big Alonso fan - if the Ferraris are quick I reckon he'll win it.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 Schumacher third fastest in the first day of testing in Valencia. He's on the pace! Yeah he's definitely up to the pace, although I reckon they probably had him on low fuel just to give him that confidence and bed him in.
Brainy Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 I think Schumacher will quit during the season if things don't go his way. I'd like to place a bet on that
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 I think Schumacher will quit during the season if things don't go his way. I'd like to place a bet on that I'll bet you your post count that the season does go his way - he's just such a lucky sod in that way (maybe skill as well <_< ) I mean an actual exchange in our respective post count stats so I look more important
hairy Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 Gary Paffett? Test times really are nothing to go by at this stage. Worse than an Friday on a race weekend
JimmyK Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 Gary Paffett? Test driver for McLaren I think. If I remember correctly, it was speculated that either Paffett or Hamilton would partner Alonso in 2007 (both young, promising drivers). They probably made the right choice, in retrospect

Of course, some teams have their test drivers out there but still. Happy with that. Can't wait for this season! Love F1. Big Alonso fan - if the Ferraris are quick I reckon he'll win it. Good man. Happy when Ferrari signed him. Felipe's still my main man but I'd be just as happy to see Alonso edge it.
Legend_in_blue Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 Alonso is a cheat. I hope Hamilton takes him out somewhere this season! Go and block him in the pit lane Lewis! Go on!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 1 February 2010 Posted 1 February 2010 Alonso is a cheat. I hope Hamilton takes him out somewhere this season!Go and block him in the pit lane Lewis! Go on! If Alonso is sucha big cheat, while didn't he get on with the cheating duo of McLaren and Hamilton? (Maybe Hamilton wouldn't agree to crash his car? )
hairy Posted 2 February 2010 Posted 2 February 2010 Points system scoring has changed again! 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 giving a bigger gap between 1st and 2nd
