Brainy Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 We only need to predict which two drivers go out in Q1.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 13 March 2010 Posted 13 March 2010 Right, I still haven't a clue where everyone is in terms of pace, except for the crap cars who are clearly sloooooww! Is being quick on no fuel a good sign for being quick on lots of fuel?
isaidno Posted 13 March 2010 Posted 13 March 2010 Position Country Driver Team 1 Germany S Vettel Red Bull 2 Brazil F Massa Ferrari 3 Spain F Alonso Ferrari 4 Great Britain L Hamilton McLaren 5 Germany N Rosberg Mercedes 6 Australia M Webber Red Bull 7 Germany M Schumacher Mercedes 8 Great Britain J Button McLaren 9 Poland R Kubica Renault 10 Germany A Sutil Force India 11 Brazil R Barrichello Williams 12 Italy V Liuzzi Force India 13 Germany N Hulkenberg Williams 14 Spain P de la Rosa BMW Sauber 15 Switzerland S Buemi Toro Rosso 16 Japan K Kobayashi BMW Sauber 17 Russia V Petrov Renault 18 Spain J Alguersuari Toro Rosso 19 Germany T Glock Virgin 20 Italy J Trulli Lotus 21 Finland H Kovalainen Lotus 22 Brazil L di Grassi Virgin 23 Brazil B Senna Hispania 24 India K Chandhok Hispania Brilliant laps by Vettel & Massa , should be a good race. Apparently the Red Bull isn't very good on it's tyres
dandannieldanok Posted 13 March 2010 Posted 13 March 2010 Bit disappointed in the spectacle, clearly it'll take a few races before all the teams are upto speed but it appears as the new regulations have spaced the field out as far as competitiveness goes. Doesn't help that it's a horrible, featureless track.
Brainy Posted 13 March 2010 Posted 13 March 2010 Bit harsh about the track, although the new section is totally pointless and looks horribly bumpy. Mercedes/McLaren/Ferrari/RB were always going to be in the top 10, Lotus/Virgin/HRT were always going to be the bottom six, its just between 11-18th places which will be unpredictable. Hope Barrichello does well tomorrow.
Legend_in_blue Posted 13 March 2010 Posted 13 March 2010 I felt sorry for the guy driving for Hispania in qualifying today. Millions watching and it's his first attempt at a proper 4 laps worth in the car. His cockpit view reminded me of my driving skills in F1 2008, the steering was all over the place. Tbf, they should have told Hispania and Virgin to come back in a few weeks once they've done some sort of testing with the cars. 8 seconds off the pace, they'll be lapped in no time. And wheels flying off the cars? This could be dangerous. Schumacher off the pace slightly, to be expected I suppose. About half a second off Rosberg though, expected him to be closer than that. But Webber to Vettel, a second in pace? Ouch. Webber is overrated. Should be an interesting race tomorrow. Let's hope for some overtaking.
Asha Posted 14 March 2010 Author Posted 14 March 2010 Really confident of a Ferrari win today, and maybe both of them to be on the podium. It's just nice to appear competitive again and hopefully it will be consistent throughout the season. Backing Massa to win his first race since Interlagos '08.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 Carn Webber hoping he has an even better year this year
Asha Posted 14 March 2010 Author Posted 14 March 2010 Ferrari have replaced their engines?? Apparently yeah. No grid penalty though, thankfully. Bit strange for me watching the interview with Schumacher, after practically worshipping him for so many years it's bizarre to find myself hoping he ****s it in the first corner.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 Who's going to take the first checkered flag of the season? My moneys on Massa or Hamilton. Nuss you a Ferrari fan then?
fatmando Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 Apparently yeah. No grid penalty though, thankfully. Bit strange for me watching the interview with Schumacher, after practically worshipping him for so many years it's bizarre to find myself hoping he ****s it in the first corner. They still get the same amount of engines this season even tho theres more races. Must have been something seriously wrong to change it now! Yeah I don't like him. If he does fook it up you can be sure he'll take somebody else with him! Go on Alonso.
Super_horns Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 A pretty dull race TBH. Vettel lost that race with the lack of reliblity.
fatmando Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 A pretty dull race TBH. Vettel lost that race with the lack of reliblity. Yeah I agree. I hope it's this track that made it dull. Not much overtaking. 9 laps to go. I can't see anything happening to Alonso now. Good drive but like you say he won by default.
Asha Posted 14 March 2010 Author Posted 14 March 2010 Beautiful stuff. Can never complain about a Ferrari one-two. I believe it's the first Ferrari one-two since the French GP 2008, and it's been a long time coming. Hope it's a sign of things to come this season. Although Hamilton got a podium, Button looked off the pace of the leaders. Great to see. Ferrari 1 Team Britain 0
Brainy Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 Well actually Red Bull look like the fastest team out there. We're clearly not the fastest car, probably the 3rd fastest so i'l definitely take 3rd. Confident for Melbourne though, McLaren should be better there. Ferrari had to get a good start considering neither of their drivers had experienced the feeling of a victory since all the way back in '08. I think the sudden hatred you have for Schumacher is a bit pathetic to say the least. and don't accuse me for your minus-post rating , i seriously didn't.
Wycombe Fox Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 Well that was a bit of a disappointment. Boring or what? Pretty much a procession from turn 1 of lap 1. I fear every race could be like this one.
Sparky Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 Fook me i hope the entertainment level raises for Melbourne. Alonso is the best driver on the track in my opinion, a real winner but i must say i think hes a full on tosser
BlueSi13 Posted 17 March 2010 Posted 17 March 2010 Dissapointing start but it does mean that things will only get better (touch wood) Its all about McLaren Vs Mercedes for me and so far so good with Hamiltons podium

I really hope 1 of the Red Bulls can win this one, spice up the season a bit.
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 March 2010 Posted 22 March 2010 Webber 5th favourite? Over-rated. Even if he has the car, he doesn't have the skill and is way behind his teammate in terms of quality and overall pace. Once Mercedes come good this season, he'll be way down the pecking order so 5th favourite seems a little too generous to me.
hairy Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 The qualifying is on at the perfect time for me , I can watch it before I go to work. Australia is usually a decent race Dont forget the clocks go forward on Saturday night / Sunday morning so a 7.00am start is more like 6.00am
Wycombe Fox Posted 26 March 2010 Posted 26 March 2010 Oooops! Virgin's fuel tank is 13 litres too small to be able to finish the next three races at full speed http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8588379.stm
