Manwell Pablo Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I am looking out of my window a work I can see a billboard for the Mercury claiming "Lord Mayor Dropped By Party" Someone please tell me that not even the joke that is the Labour Party want anyything to do with him.
Finnegan Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Somewhat predictable if true. No doubt Colin will claim he voluntarily stepped out of the running.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 He's been de-selected by the party and won't be able to stand for ward councillor again. No real reasons given, speculation about infighting etc and possibly his position on having an elected mayor EDIT: ignore me, read for yourself: http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news/MAYOR-DROPPED-ELECTION/article-2914977-detail/article.html
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 "I don't know why Colin was deselected but I feel sorry for him because he's a nice chap. No he isn't
Jimmy Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 that reads like Labour want to introduce something we should have a referendum on, IE do we want a directly elected Mayor with real political power in the city or not, and like at Westminster half the party want it and half don't and he falls in the latter
FoxyPV Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 They just want a mayor who can keep his trousers on in front of kids. Is that so difficult?
Zingari Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 that reads like Labour want to introduce something we should have a referendum on, IE do we want a directly elected Mayor with real political power in the city or not, and like at Westminster half the party want it and half don't and he falls in the latter yes it sounds to me as though he believes that having an elected mayor is a matter for a referendum not just " consultation " fair play to him really
davieG Posted 19 November 2010 Author Posted 19 November 2010 yes it sounds to me as though he believes that having an elected mayor is a matter for a referendum not just " consultation " fair play to him really Pretty sure that's not the reason for his ousting http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news/Mayor-vote-badly-handled/article-2913738-detail/article.html A senior councillor has criticised her own party over the way it handled the issue of an elected mayor. Leicester City Council's ruling Labour group narrowly voted to back proposals for an elected mayor – who would run the city – this month. But former Lord Mayor Mary Draycott said she felt the vote was "railroaded through" in a "bullying" manner. She said proper procedure was not followed because members were not told the issue would be discussed before the meeting and that councillors felt "intimidated" by an e-mail sent by the Labour chief whip following the vote.
Zingari Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Pretty sure that's not the reason for his ousting i read it as though Ultra was fighting against the railroading way it was going through , not sure though , it's a bit hard to understand who is saying what
Finnegan Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Its pretty obvious he's always been an awful candidate. No one in the public sector in New Parks has a good Colin Hall story, it's all about him being a complete plank. Being mayor has just highlighted how useless he is. This difference of opinion stuff is just them being kind and saving him a last bit of face.
Daggers Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 He ought to get as many filthy shags in as possible before his power evaporates.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 He ought to get as many filthy shags in as possible before his power evaporates. We all like a man in chains
Daggers Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 We all like a man in chains Does Tabou still post here?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 Does Tabou still post here? I don't think so. He probably got out just before the irreversible decline set in
Daggers Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I don't think so. He probably got out just before the irreversible decline set in It's all good now, baby. We're going to give the place a lick of paint, knock through to the Music section and get lots of topless bints to gyrate around with trays of shooters.

Can we also include the ones where you have to snort a shot off a naked bint's body?

Thracian Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 That's about as blunt a vote of no confidence a mayor could have during his year of office as leading citizen. And, given that his own party should take the momentous decision to say that they no longer even consider him worthy to stand as a potential ward councillor - never mind wear the mayoral chain of office - does that mean that Cllr Hall will do the honourable thing and resign? Because, to me, his continuing as mayor rather holds the office up to ridicule. As this thread, along with so many other things, plainly demonstrates.
Finnegan Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 the thought of Ultra having the clarity of perspective of self to think he might be shit enough to resign. You drunk, Tone?
Thracian Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 the thought of Ultra having the clarity of perspective of self to think he might be shit enough to resign. You drunk, Tone? Sorry about that. I don't take the Barbars like I used to!
Finnegan Posted 19 November 2010 Posted 19 November 2010 I'm glad there's something we can bond over, even if it is a mutual loathing.
