What's L1 like, it's not full of rowdy nob heads is it? I'm thinking of getting my ST there next season as I'm always a bit self concious about standing up in the kop, I'm in the middle and the people behind me sit down so it's a bit awkward.

Saying that I don't wanna relocate there if it's full of idiots, you know the sort.

Sods, did you see that woman behind me yesterday? Kept moaning about having to stand up then her husband said if she didn't shut up he'd move lol

I'd be in favour of it. In my area the atmosphere is pretty decent, especially compared to my previous location, but it can still be improved.

Full of nob heads.

This is my concern. I am also considering the switch from Kop to L1. Past two games I've had a family behind me with a blanket and flask. To right of me is a family full of young kids, I almost guilty swearing amongst them.

As along as The Kop remains the cheapest part of the ground this will continue.

To summarise the findings of the poll, everyone in L thinks it's a piss awful idea and everyone in the kop thinks it's a good idea.

So basically we've found out that everyone thinks the atmosphere in the kop is shit.

Investigative.

It's fine, making it season ticket only really forced the trouble-seekers and "No surrender" mob out except for "big" games when they tend to find a way in. Some people seem to have misconceptions about it, but probably haven't been in since the 2006/07 season.

The worst thing about it is having to show the stewards your season ticket four or five times and the police filming you with no provocation at local derbies. :frusty:

i feel that this sounds a really good idea. all it needs is alot of communication between kop'ers and L/K1'ers. after the fans peformance in the kop yesterday+ the noisy lot as per near the away fans, i think away fans will be fearing us and pipe down ;)

How far does the standing section run for? Is it just L1 or does it go through K and J too? As long as I'm in the mix then I won't mind, I just don't want to surrounded by a bunch of chavvy tosspots.

I stand in the Kop, think its a great idea but don't think it would ever work, sadly. As the poll shows, the L1'ers just wouldn't want this to happen.

Incidentally, I've been thinking of moving my ST to L1 since after I moved back to the Kop from N. Think I'll be doing it this season.

I'll tell you what wasn't shit: Continental SK1 against Swansea in the FA Cup, that's what.

As for the suggestions James, t'is a great idea in theory but seriously next to impossible to put into practise. Everyone in L1 is settled in and enjoys the bant there, and they know they're pretty much untouchable in terms of standing. Move everything to the Kop - in co-operation with the club - and people will begin being cherrypicked out by stewards and the club will shut it down gradually. Because they're cunts.

I'd be more than happy to be on board with you as far as possible in implementing any ideas should you want my help, but based on the poll and the club, I can't see anything changing. :(

I loved the way that the kop at Filbert Street was next to the away fans... it made for an excellent atmosphere... if there was a way that it could be done at the Walkers so that it went back to that again, it'd be great, but the club seem keen to stamp out any sort of banter and keep the rowdy home and away fans apart...

:D I saw she was sat down for most of it, the husband was right into it though. Sk1 has got so much potential because most of the vocal fans in the south stand are in this section, take games such as Leeds last year, Wednesday and Watford the year before. Games on a Saturday aren't usually that bad compared to Tuesday nights in which the atmosphere is absolutely awful.

Goes through to K. Dont think it reaches J.

It does actually reach the back rows of J3 on most matches and a lot more for 'big' matches, it was probably down to about GG-ish in J3 on Saturday. We've had to go there a couple of times when leaving it too late to get tickets in K. Can't speak for L but I don't really see that many nobs in K (slightly older crowd IMO, L looks like it's full of kids around the drum) but you're still close enough to get the atmosphere and stand all match.

I think it's good C-Man that you care, and are actively trying to find a solution to a clear problem regarding our usual atmosphere.

But in terms of moving L1 to the Kop, you'll definitely struggle in gaining the interest. From my point of view, since being in L1 I've started to look forward to home games again. I was the Kop last year, a few rows down from the top and was made to sit every game. I hated it.

In L1, there's normally decent banter with the away fans, most of the 'singers' are in this section (along with A HUGE amount of Foxestalkers) and along with K seems to be growing and improving all the time. I don't know how many people stand in say J2, because I can't see from where I am....but if the number of standers keeps growing along the east stand then that's where the best atmosphere will be, and where I would like to stay for that reason.

As interesting a subject & continuous conversation is...

The "kop" or more aptly the south stand is a joke, atmosphere wise. The club like to maintain the image that the "kop" is the area for the vocal supporters, however this changed when we moved the few hundred yards over to Filbert Way as the relocation of the away supporters removed the "banter" as you said.

The thing to do for all these guys n gals who want to stand is not to fight the tide & move to L, K or J as the club has accepted that the numbers are too many to challenge.

As much as the people who want to have some atmosphere in the "Kop" would like us to believe that there are the numbers who consistently want to achieve some form of atmosphere, it just is not the case, as the only time you ever hear them is when something special happens like the gally & waggy example vs Newcastle. Thats just the average vocal supporters getting behind their team once they get really fired up.

The fans who have moved to L &K are the type of fans whom either enjoy the standing, singing or both. Everyone knows that they are there for either or both reasons, if you come into that bracket then there really is only one place in the ground to be and it is near to the away fans.

I have previous experience of consistently singing & standing on the back row of the "kop" and it was an utter waste of my energy as all you ever get is stuck up fookers looking around giving you "that" look, I could understand if I was at the theatre but for heavens sake the football was the place where the local working class went to let off steam but now we have the traditionally vocal areas of the ground overrun but these sit down shut up types.

I'm fascinated by all these people telling us what it's like to sit or stand in the Kop.

I'm on JJ in SK3. Mostly I stand, and I've never once been rold not to, either by other fans or stewards. I sing (badly), shout and swear. And no-one has ever tutted, given me "that face" or thrown a flask at me.

I think it's easy to generalise about the fans in various sections of the ground, but that's not helpful. The reality is that there were probably flask and blanket types in L block once upon a time, but they moved out as the nature of the block changed. That would happen in the kop too. But the real problem is people won't want to leave L for the kop unless the kop is moved to the other endto bear the away fans. It makes perfect sense to me, as it would move the kids away from the swearing, but what do I know?

I've never received 'that face' either. Have been asked to sit down ocassionally, but always by fans. Never by stewards.
