davieG Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 From the Donny OS ROVERS NEED YOUR HELP Posted on: Mon 22 Feb 2010 As supporters will no doubt be aware, snow and ice has taken its toll on South Yorkshire, with Doncaster amongst the areas that have been affected. Doncaster Rovers Football Club is appealing to supporters for help in removing the snow from the area of the Keepmoat Stadium playing surface, so as to speed up the preparation for Tuesday evening's clash against Leicester City in the Coca-Cola Championship. Any supporter kind enough to come down to the Keepmoat Stadium and help Doncaster Rovers should come to the Main Reception at the ground (with your own shovel if possible). All help will be gratefully received.
Toby or not Toby Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Really hope this is on, Rotherham are appealing for volunteers for tonigts game, if thats on then I would hope that tommorrows is on!
Katy Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 It will probably be off, the weather is shite pretty much everywhere at the moment.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Isn't this already a game that was rescheduled due to bad weather? (I know Cardiff definitely was.) But if it's anything like yesterday, inch of snow in the morning, gone by noon.

Yes it is a rearranged game, rearranged after Doncaster promised the original game would be on haha - hence my negativity for tomorrow's game.
syston_fox Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 If Walsall could get their game on last season against us then this lot have no excuses. No snow forecast for tonight up there and they will have had 48 hours to clear it from the pitch!

Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 http://www.doncasterwx.co.uk/ Doesn't look so bad.
syston_fox Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 http://www.doncasterwx.co.uk/ To be honest I dont think anyone really has a clue anymore. BBC have it down as no snow what-so-ever. So long as they give us plenty of warning if they do call it off!!
Trumpet Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 The rpoblem is, even though the snow thaws fairly quick due to the strength of the sun this time of the year, most of the grounds are shaded because the sun is so low. I wouldn't hold your breath for this one to be on tbh.

Ozwin Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 The first match was fooking atrocious, if the pitch is shit then I can't see it being an improvement.
Scow Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 It might help that the game kicks off at 7:45 as opposed to 3:00, giving the pitch more time for recovery. Clutching at straws... However, I've just looked at Stringer's Twitter: The pitch at Doncaster is clear of snow as are the areas surrounding the ground so it looks like the Leicester City game tomorrow will be on
drfc Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Apparently, the pitch is free of frost and snow. It's looking good.
Edmund Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Apparently, the pitch is free of frost and snow. It's looking good. Sounds promising, lets just hope there's not heavy snow fall tonight.
Bluefoxtim Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 ...and as it stands, the pitch is perfectly playable and in a state that is far better than what it was at this time last season!!! It's had plenty of water, there's not a patch of frost in sight and it really looks like it will play well tomorrow. Conditions around the stadium are relatively decent as well and every effort is being made to get the game on.Around 30 people in total were helping clear snow at various points during the morning and afternoon and the pitch was cleared from snow at about 3.00pm. http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?option...99&id=70230
Guest t.z0n3 Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 VERY good. Now I can go see proper English football.
Fox You Forest Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Great news, well done to the 30 odd who chipped in.
Rodders Posted 22 February 2010 Posted 22 February 2010 Great news, well done to the 30 odd who chipped in. I think that deserves a free ticket. Won't happen though.
Shrenchel Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 Absolute scandal if it doesn't go ahead, the hours Ive chipped off work for these tinpot jokers is getting ridiculous.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 23 February 2010 Posted 23 February 2010 It is likely that there will be snow in the Doncaster region this evening (Tuesday) and it is likely to start prior to the match. It shouldn't be too heavy though which means the match stands a good chance of going ahead as ice is unlikely to affect the pitch before the start either. However, come the end of the match, there is the possibility that the snow could well still be falling and possibly heavily at times, combined with the risk of icy roads, it does pose a potential hazard for travelers so for all those heading up there, do be careful heading home. This is based on the forecast at the time of writing and although it isn't likely to change too much, there could be some slight alterations over the course of the day.
