Anybody know anywhere Loughborough side of Leicester that sells tropical fish?

Looking for a good garden centre or something, don't want to go to Pets at home or somewhere like that.

so does anyone know anywhere good that sells them?

The Underworld in Loughborough disappeared years ago but I was never sure if it closed completely or just relocated.

In Birstall you've got Birstall Garden Centre on Sibson Road that does all manner of aquatic stuff and I think Friends In Soggy Homes is still there on Wanlip Lane, so they're not too far away

Really?

I worked there when I was at school, I'm not sure how it has such a good reputation, I'm not gonna go into detail, but you don't want to know some of the things they do with their tanks/plumbing, fish, e.t.c, It isn't the best place trust me.

Is Rowena still there just outside of Rothley over the A6?

They used to have lots of fish.

If your interested in cichlids then go there, for ordinary community fish i wouldnt bother! Saying that, they have some odd balls, but there tanks are 75% cichlids.

Clearwater used to have some fantastic Malawi Cichlids and Discus, but now they specialise in Marine fish.

didn't Madonna adopt a couple of those Malawi sick kids ?

Fucking foreign fish - coming over here and taking over our fish tanks.

What's wrong with a decent brace of brown trout? Beautiful British fish!

Went in A5 Aquatics with the lad I work with today for his fish tank, seemed reliable enough, nothing on Clearwater.

Also gave me the itch to get my own tank now, looking for 1 of them starter tank kits where everything is included.

Anyone else on here into this fish keeping malark?

Fancy seeing some pics of peoples set ups, I'll post pics of mine sometime this week, love it.

Cost me a fortune so far, gotta be around £300 spent so far, ridiculous.

Had a 50l marine tank for almost a year now

Was going to wait until i moved up north but I saw the two most pretty clownfish in Maidenhead aquatics and decided to go for it.

The fish are doing great and the tank looks nice, unfortunately it's only a 50L so I've not had much success with corals, there was just too much going on in there so i'm keeping it free for now except one, will get a picture up soon.

It's become a real hobby, I love looking at other peoples tanks on some of the forums, one guy in america has a bar in his basement with the biggest tank i've ever seen along the wall behind it, absolutely amazing

What have you gone for fish wise?

I really want a goby but going to have to wait til i can afford a bigger tank

Ive gone for freshwater/tropical fish to start off with, well its more of a refresher, my Dad was a specialist fish keeper for years when I was younger so this has just refreshed my memory of everything.

Got a community'ish tank though, got a Betta in there, and a Red Tailed Shark, which both require a bit more attention than your average community fish, I'm looking at going into Discus towards the end of the year providing I can afford it and have the time and patience for it.

Would love a Marine set up in the future but from what I can gather there hard work? Be really interested to see pics of your tank too

i've got me a 48 litre fish pod, and since i have had it am proper enjoying looking after it, and seeing other peoples tanks, its great.

In mine i have 2 snails, frog, red tail shark, few mollies, 2 gouramis and 2 plant eaters. am looking at investing into a bigger tank soon, but don't want to upgrade just yet as mum and dad brought me the tank for my birthday and i'll feel ungrateful if i upgrade to a new one so soon, if you know what i mean?

Got given a 100l tank with wooden cabinet and all the gear about 3 years ago and LOVE it!

Have got Plecs, Angel Fish, Lemon Gouramis, Silver Sharks, Rosy Barbs, and various Tetras (not the very small ones though as they would get eaten!) oh and a Barbie Loach which I hardly ever see but it pops up from time to time!

So relaxing just watching them - would love a marine one but dont have the time/money to do it.

My red finned shark, Tina, is eight years old, which is quite impressive as nothing else seems to live more than a year or two at best.

My tank is only 70 litres, but I'd love to have a massive one. The thing that always amazes me is how big the fish will get if they have a bit of space. At one of sister companies' offices they've got a 120 litre tank with fairly bog standard community fish in, but because there's not many of them they're all massive. There's a plec in there that's about 7 inches long, whereas none of mine have ever grown bigger than about an inch and a half before they kark it. Even the neon tetras and platys are the biggest I've ever seen

Well I woke up this morning and 1 of my Guppys had died, she was getting bullied like mad due to being smaller than the rest, still pretty gutted though.

Gonna have to replace her soon, also looking at getting a pair of Blue Faced Rams, but I've heard they need slightly warmer water and more regular water changes, lovely fish though. Also thinking about getting a pair of Angelfish, do you have any problems with them Lou?
