The general mesage I seem to be getting is this:

1) You don't mind that we didn't make the play offs last season - that was Micky's fault.

2) You don't mind if we don't make the play offs this season - that will be Micky's fault too.

And there was I thinking that Shareholders United, IMUSA and MEC had the worst boneheads in football...

109751

Funny, 'cause the way I interpret it the general message is:

1) "We" are disappointed we didn't at least mount a challenge for the playoffs. The players are to blame.

2) "We" are hopeful of at least a playoff challenge next season. No-one blames Micky if we fail.

Its history now, we need to concerntrate on all getting behind Levein.

So there may have been some bad performances & one signing that is yet to deliver - but O'Neill experienced the same initially & not all his signings worked.

109160

Is this your personal opinion, or foxes trust speel?

109163

Would imagine the Trust will always encourage fans to get behind the current manager. What's the point of not doing so?

109703

Your job is to represent the fans. If the fans want a manager to be sacked (not in this case oc) you should be pushing the club into doing it! Are you seriously saying that the trust would have been supporting Peter Taylor at Charlton away 3 or 4 years ago? Perhaps printing song sheets with 'peter taylors bluewhite army'.

If the trust doesn't represent the fans, there is absolutely no point in it existing.

Come on gents, Chandler has been man enough to offer the olive branch, the rest of us should be man enough to accept it and put this argument behind us.

Chandler, if I don't get any enjoyment out of watching football, as was happening under the previous regime, I shall question the current manager too.

I'm sorry if this dashes any illusions you have over me.

As a non-Leicester fan my opinion is that under Mickey Adams you were not a very good team and didn't seem to be going any where. Under Craig Levein you still haven't been a very good team but there is a strong possibility that he can take the club somewhere and you will improve.

Actually, it looks more like he's trying to re-align his position on CL so that if we do well next season he doesn't get egg on his face.

Truest words you ever did speak Step.

Just for the record, if I was just trying to hedge my bets, I would have done it for the season just gone but I didn't.

In fact I agree with the majority of Levein lovers on this board ie we are unlikely to finish above mid table. The difference between us is whether we view this as a good or a bad thing.

The Leveinites are desperately trying to spin mid table as good. They reason that Levein needs to 'clean up Adams mess' and that this will take time. Sounds genuine but it aint for reasons that have been discussed a thousand times.

The reality is that I have pushed Leveinites into a corner. They are too defiant to admit they were wrong over their behaviour earlier this season and are now covering up for it by continually changing their arguments and lowering their expectations.

The truth is that if I hadn't constantly brought all this to their attention there would be far more criticism of Levein on this board then there is. This could change of course if we start next season badly.

Levein's policy of recruiting en masse from the SPL is seriously flawed. The native talent is rarely better than Division I level and the overseas players develop appalling habits both on and off the ball. I might be wrong here, but I don't believe anyone else is doing this. Notably, no Scottish managers based in England are doing this.

And that should be a warning to us all...

Next season will be part of a rebuilding proccess at the club. You cannot expect a team which finished 15th this season to finish play-offs or better.

I'm not saying mid-table will be good, just a start

Fair crack there Chandler.

It's going to be interesting to see what players Levein signs this summer. He might well of 'raided' the SPL in his signings so far, but you have to admit (without mentioning results) that Hughes and Maybury have both looked class in this league. I'd even go as far as saying they are potential premiership players given some of the tosh that blags their way in to premiership sides and stays there.

I'm confident in Levein, got an open mind for people who criticise him though as I always believe managers can improve immensly. I hold my hands up and say I was one of the people that 'hounded' Micky Adams out. I backed him to the hilt during the majority of his managerial time at Leicester but when I could see his desire for the job had melted and he was being childish in his interviews I knew it was time for him to go. I was unhappy with the way the club was being run for a long time and I thought this was a great opportunity to put pressure on Adams (which I felt was deserved, we were playing crap) and get a new manager in who would completely re-build things here.

If i've commited a crime, then so be it. Things were starting to catch up with us at this club, short term signings were having a detrimental effect on us and it wasn't healthy. Football is a cut throat business and worse things have happened than what we 'supposedly did'.

There is a minor flaw in this idea of yours and that is based upon where CL signed the players from originally.

So far we have seen McCarthy and Kenton come in from English clubs, plus the Sturm effort from slovenia.

You then base your idea on Hughes, Maybury, Devries and Kisnorbo. If we signed Maybury from leeds, De vries from Dordrecht 90 and Kisnorbo from South Melbourne. This leaves Hughes from the SPL, who played over 60 times for one of the 2 clubs in the SPL which which get some credit south of the border.

You would have to base your arguements on CL signing unknown foreigners maybe, or players that are not first team, top flight regulars for thier previous club. This point about signing players from the SPL is as short-sighted as it is pointless.

Also, you'd have to rate Maybury and Hughes as the two best players at the club currently, which means in reality you're basing your disparaging remarks towards players that arrive from the SPL either solely on Mark de Vries, or also on Kisnorbo who hasn't played for us yet, or prospective signings? Levein knows the Scottish market well, he's made two excellent cheap signings there and he's shown by picking up Paddy McCarthy that he's not afraid to sign players not just from England but who have barely played a first team game.

Chandler doesn't deal in performances or individual players.

He looks at broard trends in results and the formulates an arguement around that. He doesn't care whther this adds up or whether what people can see with their very eyes tell them differently. Try telling him that Levein has motivated the likes of Williams, Connolly, Dublin and Gillepsie to play a hell of a lot better than Adams ever could. He won't have it because results tell him that Levein can't motivate. :S

I don't know how much of the bad stuff of the early part of the season was down to MA and how much to Basett. There is no doubt that some very curious contracts were put together in the previous season which enabled the likes of Dickov, Thatcher etc to walk for nothing leaving us with no money to rebuild the squad. that was presumably down to DB although MA had to carry the can how much criticism of the player selection plicy can be placed at DB's feet? Perhaps MA couldn't motivate people who were not HIS signings

Posted

I'd say a combo of both MA and DB personally. After administration they were all into the "sign players for shorter periods so we arent stuck in long contracts" motto. Naturally this meant every year the players would be nearing the end of their contracts and hence their value would be minimal. They didnt take any gambles on any players and ultimately it backfired. If they had been signed on longer contracts their value would be higher and clubs would need to fork out more to prize them away. Even if the players didnt have hearts set on playing in div1 it would at least ensure we got something decent in transfer fees. This way we re-establish players and let them go for nothing. There needs to be a balance - MA and DB should have taken a risk with the younger players - Ben Thatcher mainly. Its a farce how he ended up walking for peanuts considering how much of a kickstart his spell at Leicester provided him ...

I won't quibble with that parody too much TT. Quite a reasonable caricature of my position in fact (the highlighted sentence is probably the most sophisticated analysis of my approach to date and makes me feel somewhat immodest).

On with the motley then:

Williams was a wall flower for 3/4 of the season granted. Ball players can take time to settle. But touche (can't find the accent grave thingy). NB he was part of the 'mess' that Adams left behind according to the FB's.

Connolly tried too hard under Adams (and for a good deal longer under Levein). Despite his striker billing he is playing outside his natural position. Really an attacking midfielder a la Lampard. NB another piece of Micky poo.

Dion got send off day one was suspended and did weigh in with a goal or two before Micky left. Didn't get rave reviews in his day job and spent much of the season moonlighting as a central defender. Old and ugly enough not to need Levein's passive motivational techniques (watch the extended digits on his left hand on his lapels that's what I say). Can't give you that one. Yet more fecal matter.

Gillespie dined out on that freaky goal at Upton Park a little too often I think (and once again it all came a little too late). Some nice cameos off the bench. Was he really that convincing though.

I have never denied that these were/are good players. And neither did the fickle boneheads. Until we started to drop down the table like a para without his chute UNDER MR LEVEIN. Then of course they became Micky's mess...

Now it seems they were good all along according to your argument. Now, do you see WHY you lot drive me up the wall???????????????????????????????????

Connolly might have the attributes to fill in in that role, but that most certainly isn't his favoured position. He's played as a striker for all of his career and after 10 years if it wasn't his strongest position surely some manager would of recognised this and changed him to an attacking midfielder? With over 100 league goals to your name in about 200-250 games isn't a bad record for a striker to have. I'd evern go as far as saying he's lethal, well he was at Watford, Excelsiour and Wimbledon.

Well lets let the results do the talking next season shall we, your terms after all. I'm not going to judge Levein until next seasons results and neither should you. The only difference is I am going in with a small bit of optimism where as you seem the eternal pessimist.
