Babylon Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 then it was footballers.... and now the rags mock rage is focussed on mephedrone. After a whole 3 deaths it's now the most deadly substance known to man. Even though more people die every day due to misuse of alcohol. Why not ban tomatoes, misuse them by eating 5000 a day and you'd probably die too.
FoxyPV Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Hate the tabloids! Load of shite faux rage and i would include the Mail in that group as well
StanSP Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 You can die from drinking too much water, and your kidneys burst. Let's ban water.
Guest Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Stop breathing people; air contains many hazardous substances ranging from carcinogenic pollutants to killer gases such as nitrogen, carbon monoxide etc. It's a potential death trap.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 According to Daily Mail reports, the following can give you cancer. Ban them all! http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=info&ref=ts&gid=269512464297
Wycombe Fox Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Let's ban water. I agree because then we can kill two birds with one stone and have safe canals too.
MC Prussian Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Ban people - they have a tendency to **** a lot of things up in a lifetime. Although, there's hope.
Daggers Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 Chicken flu, Princess Di, bird flu, AIDS, dangerous dogs, Radio 6, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, immigrants, superbugs, dirt and germs, Romanian beggars stealing babies, video nasties, internet porn, the Millenium bug, who shot JR...the list goes on and on - but it all started with the killer eggs.
Guest Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 I linked a BBC news report this morning on my facebook where some nonces in South Wales want something done about e-coli. A bug that's been around for centuries, and we won't get rid of. Even the mother of the boy who died said that it can't be eradicated, but then she said more needed to be done. Like what?
Daggers Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 ...but then she said more needed to be done. Like what? Something! That's what. A Facebook group, and online poll and maybe a vapid celebrity speaking about it on Breakfast AM. Then get a bunch of Mums from Inter-Mumweb to march to Downing Street with a petition demanding a 50% reduction in the global output of eColi and a ban on them being allowed into the country illegally. The government can then force councils to make league tables from A-eColi pass rates, force all eColi to carry ID cards and limit their speed to 50mph on Motorways. And the most important thing which needs to be done during any crisis like this is that no one should analyse the issue at hand and say "hang on a minute...you're all fucking nuts".

It wont work not when there are so many MPs being paid to lobby by the Advancement Retention Safety of eColi (ARSe) supporters.
James. Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 To be fair mephedrone is pretty dodgy stuff in the sense that no one knows anything at all about it yet it's freely available (delivered to your door), appears to be very addictive, and has significant physical effects in terms of raised blood pressure and heart rate. I agree with the sentiment and I'm sure some of the reporting is way over the top but it's not quite in the same league as some of the other stuff you mentioned.

Rage Against The Machine getting to number one has struck a blow against common sense in that some folk now really believe that setting up Facebook groups has some influence on someone somewhere. Don't bother contacting your elected representative, don't waste your time writing a coherent missive to the local press, don't voice your opinion anywhere near anyone that might be interested or ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING AT ALL, just set up a Facebook group. It might even get mentioned on East Midlands today: "Simon from Mansfield has set up a Facebook Group to draw attention to the fact that Wagon Wheels might be smaller than they used to be but no-one's really sure". I think Facebook is a government conspiracy dreamt up with the sole purpose of making the herd think they have a voice, thereby stopping them from interfering and doing anything rash like voting

Babylon Posted 24 March 2010 Author Posted 24 March 2010 t might even get mentioned on East Midlands today There was one on yesterday!!! Can't remember what they were protesting but it was something completely shit and the news reporter said "XXX has set up a petition on facebook and have got 1000 followers". One thousand? One f'ing thousand... A sausage roll managed to get over a million followers for f's sake.

What gets me is how and why someone found out that fertilizer gave humans a buzz. People will be snorting dishwasher powder next.
James. Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 And the award for taking everything a bit too seriously goes to.... Eh - I'm just saying the media reporting on mephedrone is a bit different to pedos, wags, etc What gets me is how and why someone found out that fertilizer gave humans a buzz. People will be snorting dishwasher powder next. At the risk of taking you too seriously it's not actually fertilizer and would probably kill plants if you gave it to them, it's just sold as that because it's illegal to sell for human consumption...

Babylon Posted 24 March 2010 Author Posted 24 March 2010 Eh - I'm just saying the media reporting on mephedrone is a bit different to pedos, wags, etc Really? So you don't think it's been sensationalised? For example the sun headline "I almost died from meow meow" with a picture of a lovely young girl next to it. If you read the article it turns out that she never even took the stuff, just that someone had offered it to her. I "almost" died from an orgy with 75 porn stars who tried to roger me to death. Shame I didn't because it never happened.

If you read the article it turns out that she never even took the stuff, just that someone had offered it to her. Hmm... maybe I should read The Sun more often. That is awful. Most of what I've read about it has been in The Metro which, from memory, has pretty much just stated the facts.
Babylon Posted 24 March 2010 Author Posted 24 March 2010 Hmm... maybe I should read The Sun more often. That is awful. It's the last time I pick up a paper to read that someone has left on the bus.
lou Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 What gets me is how and why someone found out that fertilizer gave humans a buzz. People will be snorting dishwasher powder next. Kids have been dying from sniffing glue and solvents for years and they arent being made illegal? I dont get the difference.

Guest Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 And that's why religion should be banned. Nobody requests that be delivered to their door, it's just bowls up at inconvenient times
