davieG Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 Leicester City are taking a look at Wolves striker Kyle Bennett. The 19-year-old from Telford is spending two weeks at the Walkers Stadium on a trial basis. Bennett trained with the first-team squad at Belvoir Drive yesterday alongside Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing, who has arrived from Anfield until the end of the season. Pearson will closely assess Bennett during the next fortnight and then hold discussions about the player with Wolves manager Mick McCarthy. Bennett has been with Wolves since the age of nine, but is still waiting to make his first senior appearance. The youngster, who is 5ft 5in tall and weighs 9st 8lbs, can also play in midfield and has made regular appearances for Wolves' reserves. Bennett made his debut for England under-18s in a 2-0 win over Austria back in 2008 and has also been a reserve for the under-19s. Can't work this out, surely too late for a loan this season and premature for next. At 5.5 somewhat small for a striker also is he better than our current Academy strikers. From the Merc.
Candidcamera Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 There is no harm in looking at him when it is a trial basis. He must be another Tony Cottee at that height. I suppose Wolves may free him in the summer.
Nick Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 Wolves Board is mad keen: http://www.thefootballnetwork.net/boards/read/s115.htm?115,8168723

Guest DavidJCW Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 Well it sounds like a good move then! It'll be interesting to see what he can bring to the team should the deal go through... whatever deal that is as we're currently unsure!

Simo86 Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 fixed link The last post on that forum was August 2008 ans the first was August 2007. A lot can change in a year and a half! EDIT: Just seen that Alex has beat me to it
AyewJoking Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 Sorry but at 5ft 5, he has to have something special if he's gonna make it and judging by the fact he cant get a look in at Wolves..........................................

Diego Maradona is only 5ft 5. Messi is only 5ft 7. Thus proving that you don't have to be big to ne half decent.
Daggers Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 Sorry but at 5ft 5, he has to have something special Just like Levi Porter.

That's their supposed official heights, sometimes players are smaller than that. Michael Owen's 'official' height ranges from 5ft 4 to 5ft 10.

Asha Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 Fair enough, Weale was a Bristol City reserve and signing him has worked wonders. But even so, I'd much rather we gave more first team opportunities to our own youth players, rather than sign other clubs' youth players. Must be so demoralising to be in the academy for how many years, progressing well only to see them bring in some kid from Wolves and give them more opportunities.

Perhaps he may well be better than what we already have. Would you not want to sign someone who may be better because it is not giving them a chance. Also bear in mind that he is a good couple of years older than the U18s so would probably be more ready for first team action than them.
Edmund Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 That's their supposed official heights, sometimes players are smaller than that. Michael Owen's 'official' height ranges from 5ft 4 to 5ft 10. Supposed official heights? A height is a height. Just go to the os and look at the player profiles and you will see the heights listed. It's no secret. Unless there all just just random guesses by the os staff. Although he may still be growing, the height will be his last official height when measured. As for Owen have they deployed a rack at old Trafford.
Orkneyfox Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 I'm not sure about Owen at Man U, I think you are stretching things a bit!
Ozwin Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 Pearson's clearly looking towards the future, Waghorn's hardlly massive and he's been great. Pearson surely knows what he's doing and if he gave him a trial then he might have seen enough already, it's not like he's signed him yet.
lcfcsnow Posted 25 March 2010 Posted 25 March 2010 http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2005020,00.html Wolves have released him.
