The General Election - Who Are You Voting For?

Recommended Posts

From the BBC:

0959: Labour are getting their own back. Nick Clegg clambered off his battle bus and onto a wall to speak to students in Leicester to be greeted by a large "I agree with Nick" placard. Sadly for the Lib Dem leader, as he begins his speech, four mischievous scamps hold up signs saying "Vote Labour" behind his back - right in view of the TV cameras. Student pranks, eh?

1245: "As Nick Clegg's bus pulled into a clock making factory in Derby, a mobile poster truck parked up outside," says the BBC's Daniel Grant. "It read 'we don't know how many illegal immigrants there are but you're welcome to stay. And bring a mate - the Lib Dem manifesto 2010'."

Loved this bit

Read the comments underneath the article - half for, half against.

Labour will know they are completely fooked if the Mirror denounce them as well.

I did. I especially liked this bit;

Invited to embrace five more years of a Labour government, and of Gordon Brown as prime minister, it is hard to feel enthusiasm.

I went for Lib Dems.

I like the 10k tax free allowance, axing Trident and the constitutional reform that they're suggesting. I also think that Vince Cable is the best man to get us out of this economic storm.

I voted for Labour last time but they've totally exhausted all their ideas and all their talent. Their front bench team is an embarrassment and will only get worse if Balls gets that promotion hes after.

As for the Tories, well I've had a look through their manifesto and haven't seen any policies of note. Theirs a lot of airy fairy stuff in there that won't help anyone. What on earth is the big society about? It sounds like something from the Thick Of It. In my opinion they are still hiding behind a large web of spin and can't respect them while Cameron is in charge.

Wish the real Gordon Brown had stood up for himself like this earlier, rather than get hung up with the Dirty Digger's propaganda campaign. Still, better late than never. Makes a change from the acted passion displayed by Clegg and Cameron.

Thanks for posting this, would have missed it otherwise.

Sky TV, in particular, chose to report this event with......yes, you've guessed it.....the clown with the placard. All 10 seconds of it, just like they did with the hooray henry who played to the media in the north-east last week.

So much for impartiality. But the Dirty Digger needs the vermin back in power so that they can start to break up the BBC and give him even more power.

This election coverage has been the most biased in my lifetime. Even Clegg has been harmed by the misrepresentation of his policies, once he became a danger to Cameron.

Im still not entirely sure. Probably Tory because I live in Surrey so they'll benefit me and my family the most, but Cameron supports bloody fox hunting! So that alone puts me off, even tho I like their policies the most.

Clegg has changed his story too many times these past months to trust him, I also think they're too into the EU, he said he was a Euro supporter not long ago. They also want an amnesty on illegal immigration which I dont like.

As for Brown, I think he's a very intelligent, strong person. But im just so tired of Labour now. They're for sheltered middle class women to vote for really.

The BNP are just a bunch of C***s so they're not an option, their election video was pathetic, we made one in 6th form more professional.

The way things are going at Sky, we might as well rename it Fox News and be done with it....

If the Torys get in it will get worse with Sky demanding the dismantling of the BBC on the basis on competition laws. Lets just prey they dont get in.

They must have redefined the word intelligence...this was the bloke who, against advice, sold half the nation's gold at just about the the worst price it's been this decade.

The £2b loss was in 2007 you'll notice. Gold has soared since then - the effective loses were massive and today's price more than anything reflects what professional people think about the state of our economy, other economies and the prospects for the value of your £ if we carry on voting for more of the same.

I think you'll find twats in every Party.

But they'll be far bigger twats who vote for another dose of this lot.

I was referring specifically to those in her constituency. However, people should really consider whether voting Tory overall is a good idea if they're likely to allow someone with such extreme religious views to hold such a prominent position in government.

Ruth Kelly (former cabinet member) is an Opus Dei Catholic and has views similar to the Pope (if not more hardline).

Correct. Didn't the revelations about her views only come out while she was a Cabinet Minister though? Either way, those kind of views have no place in affecting the way this country is governed.

There are those with such views in every party - though few would be stupid enough to voice them - but of you really want to see astark reason why we need radical change - and not just another version of Labour that the Liberals mostly represent - just study the following link.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_tax_revenue_as_percentage_of_GDP

Look at the UK figure and consider not only the proportion of tax paid on income but how much worse it will be if our debt soar still further the percentage of tax taken gets still higher and the pound, in any case, begins to be worth even less than at present.

People will soon be working as meanly-rewarded slaves for the Labour government and its irresponsible economics and idealism, completely devoid of incentive. That's exactly what the Marxists and communists who riddle the Labour party would like, of course. People reliant on and beholden to the State.

I  BBC. Sky is absolute dross bar the sport

The BBC does produce some quality programming, but you have to ask yourself what a tax payer funded organisation is doing covering such an huge range of activities, channels and langauges. It has grown well outside it's remit and needs to be severely cut.

We simply cannot go on spending what we have been on the public sector. Cuts are coming and will be difficult across the board. The key is to focus on removing the unnecessary rather than the necessary. What we need is a commercial mindset to a whole range of issues. We need to focus those in front line services on delivering that service, give them resources and authority and make them accountable. Take away the central government authorities, boards, quangos, assessors, and all the rest. Let the users of the services assess them - like we do in our everyday lives.

It's a public service and presents in an unbiased fashion. It makes such a welcome break from the vested interest driven news of ITV and SKY. It may have it's failings but is still a damn sight better than anything else.

I don't think cuts need made - the BBC provides a massive and disparate range of programming to accommodate most sections of society thereby fulfilling its remit.

Channel 4 is a close second to the BBC in terms of quality programming and news (I think they are subsidised too :dunno:).
