Bugg Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 I didn't realise it was that bad of a mistake, the way he went for it, it looked as if he had a cheeky bet on a King O.G.
marbelladave Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 At the time I got the impression that his studs just caught in the ground and his left led barely moved. Not that obvious from the clip though...
Bugg Posted 27 March 2010 Posted 27 March 2010 From where I was it looked as though the ball had rolled over his foot, but on this video it just looks as though he freezes as the ball arrives to him.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 From what I can see, there's no bobble or anything that can excuse Weale the fact he's made a catastrophic mistake here. It's a shame it happened and an even bigger shame it's cost us the match. We'll really have to pull up our socks now if we want to keep our hopes of a play-off finish up.
Guest nathan. Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Does this really deserve a thread ? He took his eye off the ball simple as that.
DB11 Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Does this really deserve a thread ? He took his eye off the ball simple as that. It's davieg's standard post-match highlights thread. The name of the thread refers to the goal each time so yes, yes it does deserve a thread.
davieG Posted 28 March 2010 Author Posted 28 March 2010 Does this really deserve a thread ? He took his eye off the ball simple as that. As it was the main cause of us dropping 3 points it seems entirely acceptable that people who didn't go to the match would like to see it. You say he took his eye off the ball so your happy to give your opinion of it others may have a different view. I've not made any attempt to influence people's thoughts on it it's posted purely as information in a way that people can easily access it - why is that a problem? Not that I have to justify my posts to you like the thread itself this is just for information.
Corky Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Took his eye off the ball- really bad error. It will though make him more careful when clearing backpases in future.
The Doctor Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 what i don't understand is why, if king intended to play it back to weale, he didn't put the pass to the side of goal? And if he didn't intend the pass as a back pass, just a tackle, then why didn't weale pick it up?
Joe. Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 what i don't understand is why, if king intended to play it back to weale, he didn't put the pass to the side of goal? And if he didn't intend the pass as a back pass, just a tackle, then why didn't weale pick it up? Of course it was an intended backpass, you don't expect to see your goalkeeper screw up like that. How many backpasses do you see go to the side of the goal?!
StanSP Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Gutted for Weale as he's had an awesome season. Hope he recovers from this and gets back to his best for Tuesday
demon_dog Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Thanks Davie as I missed the show last night. What an awful thing to happen to give them a winning goal. Let's hope we get back to our decent run of form on Tuesday night.
The Doctor Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 Of course it was an intended backpass, you don't expect to see your goalkeeper screw up like that. How many backpasses do you see go to the side of the goal?! not as many as i'd expect. pretty simple logic that if you put the pass to either side of the goal if the keeper misses his kick all you concede is a corner.
CosbehFox Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 not as many as i'd expect. pretty simple logic that if you put the pass to either side of the goal if the keeper misses his kick all you concede is a corner. When there were three Derby attackers chasing the ball? You hit it to the side of the goal when you the opportunity is there. King broke up a bit of play, gave to Weale to clear. Mistake simple as.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 I heard a rumour that Weale stepped into a piping hot bath on friday night and it shrunk his left leg by 2 inches. This would explain how he allowed the ball to pass under his foot. Anyone know if this is true?
Collymore Posted 28 March 2010 Posted 28 March 2010 The whole incident confirmed one thing to me - How professional Chris is... 99% of players would have shown some sort of disappointment or emotion after such a happening, but not our Chris! No expression at all! Hats off to Stowell and the crew for helping Chris to get in such a state of mind
