MC Prussian Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 WEMBERLEE, WEMBERLEE!!! :scarf: (In three weeks time) But in all seriousness, it was a game with an outcome I guess most of us predicted. A second-string first eleven beats Middlesbrough at home rather convincingly 2-0. Nice to see the players given a chance actually taking it. Judging by the commentary, a solid game all around, a quite confident display - and Bruce, N'Guessan, Kermorgant as well as Logan in particular had the game of their life. And it's good to see Fryatt back in action. Powell unfortunate (?) not to come on for his last regular season game in professional English football. Really, really looking forward to next Sunday. And then on to Wembley.
Jordan Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Great end to a great regular season... I know we've all been playing down our expectations all year but with the way this team finished the season, who DOESN'T fancy City's chances now?
richie8oy Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Great performance by the lads today, with us being the only play off team to win today, who wouldnt bet on us to finish the job off on May 22nd...
maddog Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Powell should have started if NP had no intention of bringing him on. Gutted Powell didn't play, the only negative about a nice result though. Just the calm before the storm today, fans and players totally relaxed, no one really bothered about the result, banter with Boro fans, penalty save, penalty scored, Kermo goal. Next week all fans including me, and all players will be totally shitting it.
Webbo Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Wasn't our best game but a good performance considering the number of first teamers rested.Alex Bruce and Dany N'Guesan both showed some quality but Conrad Logan MOTM for me, not just for the penalty saves but a couple of top drawer saves before and after.
colbo68 Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 For the past few weeks we have looked like a side who can genuinely win the play-offs. We look organised, threatening and up for it - basically a team playing with confidence. Borough never looked a threat today. I do think it was a shame that the Police congregated around the pitch-side at the end... I know why, to stop us running onto the pitch? but it took some of the carnival atmosphere away.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Great result! Great goal from Kermorgant too. Very relaxed afternoon. Conrad Logan played very well today, great save too.
Tilley Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Nice three points to end the season with. It is good to go into the play-offs on the back of five wins on the trot and being the only team out the four to win today but form goes out the window from next week. My first experience of play-offs and I will be pretty nervous come next weekend. Also, Conrad Logan had a cracking match.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Good match! Well played by pretty much everyone on the pitch... the only disappointing this was perhaps that Fryatt didn't score as he had two gilt-edged chances. However, we've ended the season with 5 straight wins and are heading into the play-offs vs Cardiff! COME ON CITY!!!
Shrenchel Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Didn't go but very good result considering the line-up. Agree Chrissy Powell couldve been given a few minutes. Take it we didn't go on the pitch apu?

Take it we didn't go on the pitch apu? No... not one person. Was a well behaved end to the season. That and we're saving our pitch invasion for Wembley at FT.
Ozwin Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 A pitch invasion for reaching the playoffs is so small time, case in point; see Blackpool.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 We're all pussies including me. But the policing is the most ridiculous i've ever seen. That guy that tried to run on after logans peno save Couldn't believe it when everyone was chanting for Fryatt to take the peno! Wellens has been brilliant and has been unlucky previously, So chuffed for him.
nickm Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 no oakley and another win, 11 men instaed of 10 and a shit midfielder-the longer he's out the better!
Fox You Forest Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Cracking strike from Yann, couple of good saves from Logan including the penalty. Thought we played some decent stuff at times considering the team had just been thrown together, oh and Bruce played well too. Highlight of the day, Gallagher's missus, lucky sod. On to the real stuff next week.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 - 06:32 PM I would definitely rest Waghorn. Powell for a run out, top bloke, seems to love the Leicester fans. I wouldnt risk Wellens and King, probably just play King a bit extra time for Wellens to get over his hamstring wouldn't hurt. I'd play Kermo upfront to see if he can grab a goal and get some confidence incase we need him in the play offs. Also I would get Bruce a full 90 under his belt incase he is needed. Pretty good review from the Boro fan although I think our defence will dominate their forwards. We are better in all departments I feel. I think me and Nigel have the same thinking
Shrenchel Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 A pitch invasion for reaching the playoffs is so small time, case in point; see Blackpool. Try Derby mate. They did their pitch again today with about as much to celebrate as gordon brown. When you aint got a garden in your council tenement it's probably nice to see a bit of grass mind.
The Doctor Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 good saves from logan, Mcgivern looked very good (never thought i'd say that), Bruce and hobbs worked very well togther. N'guessan was brilliant - i can't see why he doesn't play more frequently. Brilliant finish from kermit - unlucky not to get a penalty from that challenge by killen - foul all day long as far as i could see. Vaughan played well - couple of inches taller and he would have made contact with that overhead kick in the FH and if he did there was no stopping that. The penalty was ridiculously harsh - wellens can't have been more than 6 ft from the lad with his arms down and the boro players just blasted it at his arm. overall a godd performance and now we face cardiff - wembley here we come!

The police probably wern't ready for it and also our stadium doesnt help with the layout and where fans are located, far from the pitch.
AjcW Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Relaxed, good atmosphere... good performance with some very good football in parts... Somehow Worth the 100 quid .
Ozwin Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Their number 35 (I think - the blonde/ginger) one was well good - I reckon we should keep our eye on him. I thought it was Barry Robson at first but it wasn't was it?

I thought it was Barry Robson at first but it wasn't was it? I thought the same. It was 16year old Luke Williams. He was a right diver though! Relaxed, good atmosphere... good performance with some very good football in parts... Somehow Worth the 100 quid . What stadium were you at ? Atmosphere was shocking.
jonthefox Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Found it hard to get motivated today. Nice to end the season on a high.. btw, is it on the pitch next week ?
sbfox Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Just got back home, few thoughts. DnG looked good for the most part, fast, strong and willing to run at his full-back. McGivern was pretty dire, done for both pace and position a number of times. Yann played well after his goal, some good touches, held it up well and a particularly nice through ball to Vaughan at one point. I thought Spearing and Wellens both played well, but are to similar to be played just the two of them, we really need Kingy to break forward and support the strikers. The atmosphere was pretty dire if we're being honest. Having 30000 there made it no louder than having 22000. There was also a high percentage of complete nobbers there today. I don't know if I'm becoming a boring twat, but seeing two 13 year olds goading the 'boro fans (who WERE good) made me despair. I swear K block has become filled with essentially children. Oh and whoever let their kids have BUBBLES at a football match should be shot... Sorry for the rant.
