Pearson got it all wrong today...

The team was one that may have played in the away tie. Waghorn was all alone for too long but if we had taken our chances we would have been pleased. Not sure that he got it wrong really because in the first leg you have to make sure that you are in with a shout for the next leg.

Pearson lined up the way 95% wanted him to with the 3 (or 1 up top however you like it, but you can't say Dyer and Gallagher wern't advanced so I tend to go with the 3)

The problem for me is those two just didn't get going, there was also a nervousness about the full back's to support and as solid as Solano was, we missed Morrison and Berner was below par.

This system usually allows for the Midfield to control it but Cardiff were happy to knock it long to Bothroyd and to the wings and thats where they threatened.

For me I hold no blame with Pearson bar the games crying for Dany around the hour, and possibly sacrificing a midfielder earlier to accomodate another up top.

The way we played today we'd have won with Howard I feel and if we go the same route on Wednesday he has to start with Waggy and Dany for me and still leaving the 3 of King, spearing and Wellens behind.

Indeed, not really sure how people can slate the starting team. I can understand people saying we should have gone to a four sooner than we did, it was obvious the 3 wasn't working. But the team he selected (injuries changes aside) was one that has done well when playing that formation for much of the season.

Hobbs and Bruce were immense at the back, indeed the defence didnt do a lot wrong.

We conceded due to having a one man wall against one of the best deadball specialists in the entire FL's not because he moved it a yard or 2!

Fryatt always misses one on ones against the keeper so why is anyone surprised? I wasnt.

Howard is available again Weds isnt he? Him and Dany should start, unless Vaughan is fit again. We need big strong players against Cardiff, Dyer just wasnt the right sort of player for this tie.

Im still hopeful we can turn it around IF we play 4-4-2 and take it to them!

Oh and Bothroyd is a tosser <_<

I think the real questions today shouldn't have been asked of the team nor Nigel Pearson but more of our poor support! Can't believe that we can't even sell more tickets for a play off semi final than an end of season pointless match against Middlesbrough. The atmosphere never got going today, and I thought we gave a very poor account of ourselves especially as we should have been making the most of our home advantage. Let's hope for a better showing at Cardiff.

I'm surprised this topic has so many pages.

Nigel put out a team he thought would win but wasn't good enough because Waghorn was isolated. He realised his mistake and tried to correct it. In the last 20 minutes after we'd made the changes, we looked far more dangerous.

We're 1-0 down with 90 minutes to get 2 goals. Bring on Wednesday.

yes it shud have been a sellout, i think the club was partly to blame aswell tho, i know alot of my mates have memberships and they could only get one ticket, and they were telling me people were walking away without tickets discusted, they have a point, i mean cmon not many people go to the game alone right? then they got so desperate i got bombarded with txts and emails by the club, anyway its done now and on to a happier note i think we will go there no pressure and put on the performance of the season and turn them over KEEP THE FAITH MY FELLOW BLUES!!!!!

Pearson is the reason we are in the play-offs, he is the reason we are in this league. Anyone getting on his back needs to remember two when we went down.

Getting to the play-offs first time around is amazing, we had Morrison/Brown and Vaughan hurt, Howard suspended and Fryatt not fit enough to start. There wasn't much else we could have started with. We were unlucky, Gallagher could have scored, Fryatt should have and King wasn't far off.

Also, anyone slagging Fryatt needs to have a look at themselves, yes he should have scored today, but that isn't a reason to get on his back. We played better when he came on, he is a constant danger, no doubt if he was to score two on Wednesday the people slagging him off would be singing his praises.

We were not good enough, but blaming Pearson and Fryatt is just typical Leicester. Never happy.

KEEP THE FAITH and lets get behind the team in Wales.

Can we drop the constant 'Keep The Faith' nonsense.

Two tickets per member should have been a must. Season ticket holders should always get the rights to their seat but can then go again on members for additional 2 tickets. Would have sold out no problem.

I know a season ticket hold that was working away and couldnt get their by the 8pm friday deadline, he went in on the Saturday with his season ticket and they turned him away saying "It is members day today, come back Wednesday". Ridiculous.

And what happened with the price going down before Match day? £25 for an adult ticket on the 2nd May, the Saturday after the mercury had an advert for £19. Or was that just family stand? :dunno:

Why should members who pay about a tenner a year (if Im correct?) get 2 tickets and S/T holders who pay a damn sight more than that a year (some of us P1 or P2) have one each and then have to go back to the ticket office a second time for another one which wouldnt be next to their own seat anyway!? :dunno: Doesnt make sense?

I mean that ST holders get one day to reserve their seat but be able to get the same rights as the members(one or two additional tickets). Then it goes to members. What I was getting at is that surely ST holders are automatically members, which is apparently not the case judging by what happened to the poor chap getting turned away on members day and told to come back on general sale... Didnt mean having to go back and forth, i'm just not explaining it well, rush typing at work ;)

late edit, page gets blocked after certain times at work :)

I know people are disappointed and that's understandable, but let's not forget Cardiff are the best away side excluding the automatics this season. We seemed to find it difficult to create anything first half and they showed that they have creativity in abundance (which our defence did well to nullify). It's easy to say Fryatt didn't look sharp (which he didn't) and that Danny should have come on sooner after the game. Pearson will take this game into account when he chooses his team on Wednesday. If we go 1-0 up we might be able to frustrate them. It's been a brilliant season either way.

i see it that if youre going to play any formation you utilise any advantage you have. 4-3-3, you expect the 3 midfielders to dominate that central position on the ball and work hard to push out and win it of their wingers when defending. You also need to get the ball wide as much as possible to the 2 either side of striker, and look to be getting crosses into the box! we didnt do any of that.

we sat far too deep which made sure our route to waghorn was only long ball to his head which he had no hope, instead of playing slightly higher and getting the ball in behind for him to work his magic.

dyer and gallagher were nowhere to be seen going forward but defended quite well i thought, but they didnt get in the game much and provided hardly any support to waghorn which is not surprising when we did get in a cross that waghorn/dyer/gallagher were easily beaten in the air.

i also thought we were far to slow to the second ball, all 3 midfielders seemed to sit most of the time and nobody made that real effort to get forward. again quite good defensively but non existant going forward which then forced more long balls, which we seemed to really favour at one point where it looked our only outlet was gallaghers head for some reason.

but it is easy to pick fault after a defeat like that, cardiff just handled the occasion better and had that touch of class with a great left foot! roll on wednesday!

Yan's the man! Got to start with him in a striker role, not mid-field. He wins more target balls than any player in England - knock downs are superb, two good feet, scored in his only previous start at centre forward - caused more trouble for the Cardiff defence than the rest of the team put together, and he was well up for it! I don't care if it's with Fryatt, Waghorn or Vaughan in a 4-4-2, with the other two on the bench. 'We've got Yan Kermogant!' He IS our best chance of promotion, trust me!

So a player plays an hour of football since February, before which he'd scored 12 goals, featuring in the scoring charts, after two months without solid food, creates and almost scores our best chance of the game (if the ball had rebounded in a better position, he would have had an open goal) and he's useless and shouldn't be considered for a match where we need goals?

Its clear hes not totally useless. I am not saying that but why play a player who loses 2 stone and puts it back on in 2 months, doesnt play a single minute and when he did he was rubbish (Middlesborough). In a game where we need goals as you say, I would put him bottom of the list of strikers who are most likely to find the net on wednesday and for that reason why can't I say that he shouldn't feature? This is the exact reason why I never dared to insult the golden boy of Leicester before even if I feel if it is justified.

Posted

No doubt he should have scored, but are you really labelling him useless because of that?

For years now Leicester fans (not saying you) have been on the kid back. First game of league one, 2-0 vs MK Don's, Both Fryatt and yet we still had people slagging him off. The guy is clearly a player who needs the help from the crowd, he has come around so much since our last championship season, and yes he should have scored today but all players mess up. Kalou missed from 2 yards out last weekend, Berbatov misses week in week out. You can't base a judgement on a player on just one mistake.

I believe he was poor yesterday and against Middlesborough, i'm not saying hes completely rubbish. Im also not basing it on just that, he looked lacklustre to me and isnt the Fryatt which I know, who can score goals, so why force him back into playing? Rooney is another example of a player getting forced into action when he clearly shouldn't have been. As I have said, I believe any other of our strikers would have finished that off so why not be aggrieved?

the point is, of coarse s/t holders shoud be entiled to 2 tkts, and so shud members a tenner or not, wots the point of being one if theres no benefits, and on top of that theg/public are allowed 2, just dont get it!!!

there are other than this play-off ticket business - i don't know them myself but there's a list in the ticket office and i'm sure you could find them on the OS.

everyone complaining about one upfront..vaughan injured, howard suspended, fryatt not fit enough to start. Only other option is Kermogrant, and if we had started with him you all would have complained about that!

n'guessan up front/ gallagher played as a striker rather than a winger?

The 2nd leg is tomorrow. Do you think maybe it's time this thread finishes and we start supporting NP rather than getting on his back?
