Fosse Boys - Leicester City Ultras

If only our club could act like York City as they are forward thinking and progressive who want to generate passionate, noisy and colourful support.

You think York wouldn't swap average attendances with Leicester in a second? How long do you think their flag wavers would last if they could?

And, as a word of warning, YCFC were fined for 'Ultra'-related graffiti in the town. If you go putting your stickers all over the place (like Alton Towers  ), exactly how do you think the club is going to react?

If you are seeking an opportunity to introduce something new to the club they are not going to trust you if you can be associated with vandalism or flares. The public abuse of club employees on an internet forum is hardly likely to benefit you either.

Yet he is making fair points. If Fosse Boys wants to get anywhere as a group then there needs to be a certain level of cooperation and understanding between the club and the group.

I thought you'd used up your quota of "sensible posts" for the year?

Yeah deffinatly we know that

all you have to do is look at how that york bloke reacted to see that he likes the jorvic reds and what they do

there is no reason why that cant happen at our club

and we cant get on with Barclay

If he lets us get on with him

and i'm sorry, but sticking a couple of stickers on lamposts isn't crime of the century

next you'll be telling us to only cross the road when its a green man

That last bit wasnt directed at you Alex by the way

It's ok, that was in 2008 :D I think I've got a couple more left for this year (I'm assuming you're referring to the Daggers thread)

I'm impressed the callouses on your palms allow you to type at all, so I'm very proud you made the effort just to direct a puerile piece of abuse at me; proving that you can neither read or debate. Well done.

It doesn't detract from the validity of the points. Ignore them if you wish but it'll be you and your little chums standing around moaning about things being 'unfair' when all of this is quashed because you hadn't the sense to appreciate counter viewpoints.

This is my email to Kevin Barclay:

Hello Kevin,

My name is Dominic and i am a season ticket holder, member of the Foxestalk online fans forum and a supporter of the efforts of the Fosse Boys who i am aware contacted you relating to the use of flags and banners in one section of the stadium to improve the matchday atmosphere. I have seen some of the wonderful efforts made by supporters on Foxestalk to design and create a series of flags and banners that are truly stunning to use inside The Walkers. The group have even designed their own crest and merchandise.

On behalf of this group of supporters which already number nearly 300 online members since the idea was proposed 2 months ago, i contacted a number of football clubs regarding advice on the use of flags and banners at football stadia. In particular, i contacted York City Football Club because of the fantastic efforts of the Yorvik Reds to see how they manage the wonderful flags and banners on matchdays. I had a frank and open discussion with the Football Secretary, Nick Bassett, about the matter and he is very willing to discuss the matter with you to alleviate any fears about the use of such articles. To clarify, he made the following points:

a) Flags and banners are an essential part of a matchday atmosphere.

b) These can be controlled by limiting them to one stand or section to have better impact.

c) All larger articles are seen by the football club and stored at the ground. Any new ideas are discussed with the club and encouraged. The Yorvik Reds even manufacture their flags within the football club with their approval.

d) It is important to enter into dialogue with supporters about ways to support the team and embrace their ideas.

e) Having a designated section of the stadium for passionate and vocal support that will not disturb supporters is fundamental in ensuring that supporters who wish to sing can do freely without fear of intimidation or recriminations.

Nick Bassett is very keen to give advice and technical information on the management of flags and banners at Bootham Crescent, which complies with Football League regulations. I urge you to contact him on (his numbers). He is very willing to speak to you and will allay any concerns or fears you have. I would also suggest that a further meeting between members of the Fosse Boys and the club happen where all articles can be scrutinised to allow all suggested flags and banners to be used (even ones with poles) as they are at other clubs. Please look at the attached photographs. We as supporters want to see this sort of support recreated in part of The Walkers where such fans want to visibly display their support of the team in this season's Premiership push in a way that makes our support appear visible, passionate and unique.

I look forward to your response.

So you whine about the fact that I sent some mindless abuse at you, but say that I have callouses on my palms and that I can't form a good debate, a mindless retaliation is it not? And secondly, I'm not even part of this Ultra group, I just find it pathetic that you act like a twat because this group doesn't have the same views as you.

But he wasn't acting like a twat in the first post :dunno: He was making a valid counterpoint, something which if the group is to succeed it will have to understand.

Yeah, my mistake, he did have some good points in that post, but I have read some other post by him in relation to Fosse Boys and he has consistently come across as a pleb.

I am going to collect all the images from this thread of all the banners, flags and scarves that have been made and send them to Kevin Barclay when he responds to my email. If anyone else has had something made, upload the photo quickly so i can then collate them all. The more pressure we apply that time, money and energy has been invested in this coupled with our research and discussion with other football clubs, the more likely this idea will succeed.

I think theres a slight difference between spray painting your ultras logo all over an opponents ground and putting a few stickers up!

Just another thing I wanted to add about this idea...

Would big flags ever be wanted inside the stadium whilst the game is in action? Our culture in English football is a lot different from Foreign football where a lot of clubs have massive flags waving throughout the game. You know what English peeps can be like... You'll probably get a few middle aged blokes shouting at you because your flag is in their way lol

and would you blame them? £25 for a seat and can't see the football.

If the group were to be designated their own section within the Walkers Stadium, then I'd presume that each and every person within the section would each be like-minded and therefore wouldn't kick up a fuss about the flags.

To be fair, considering how high the ticket prices are in England, I'd be pretty pissed off if a flag obstructed my view of my game.

We do understand!!!

Sorry, my post wasn't meant to imply that you didn't

It's important to remember that people have different ways of supporting their team. Perhaps the main aim of the Fosse Boys group is to support our team through the use of flags, banners etc. without harming other supporters, who perhaps would like to support their team in different ways. We aim to prevent other supporters becoming disgruntled by negotiating with the club in order to be allocated our own section.

Great read Foss1884. Hope it gets the desired result.

This is all starting to sound a lot more promising, perhaps the non-confrontational approach and distance from the away fans are the difference this time. This could be a revolution in the style of support of this club, and a welcome one at that. Could SK1 be the new Crazy Kop corner? :D
