Father Ted Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 No standing in L1, they can get stuffed. I would rather be banned than not be allowed to stand in L1, no way will that happen.
Jimbo Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 To be fair, I don't think any club in the country would agree to allowing fans to stand for 90 minutes, they can't. But there's nothing they can really do about fans standing up to sing. So if we're seen to be sitting for parts of the match then what can they say. If they try and ban it all together then what will they do about the "stand up if you love leicester"?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 The point is though that what we're being told we can't do is illogical, and is practised in stadiums up and down the land week in week out. it's worth continuing to fight for the right to wave flags and stand up rather than just accepting the status quo as the be all and end all. I don't think there's anything wrong at all with what you want or what you're trying to achieve. I also believe that the majority of football fans, even if they don't share exactly the same vision of what going to the football should be like, will be pro-choice. Where it's going wrong is that people are going to their football clubs and saying 'we want things to be like this' and the clubs are flatly refusing to play ball, which given that they hold all the aces, isn't that surprising. Some things they couldn't do even if they wanted to; the right to stand, for example, isn't even something that they can give you, because that's controlled by a higher power than the clubs. The best you can hope for is that they turn a blind eye to it, which they do up to a point. Flag poles and increasing the areas of the ground where standing is unofficially allowed always ran the risk of going too far to be palatable to them. I'm going to be branded a lunatic as well as a bellend for this, but I believe that generally in life you're in a better position to get what you want by toeing the line. However ludicrous and unfair you perceive ground regulations to be, by breaking them we just give the authorities the excuse to ignore the requests for change, as well as all too often bringing you into conflict with other fans who should really be on your side. I am not saying that if you all behave as the club would wish you to that things will change overnight, that would be bonkers. But equally bonkers is the 17 years or so (or however long it is all seater stadia have been the norm) of banging heads against a brick wall during which what has been achieved? Nothing at all. Fans that are overall much better behaved than they have been for years are still subject to heavy handed policing and stewarding, with conflict between fans and the club and even amongst the fans themselves as they attempt to recreate the old days, and without wishing to poor scorn on the efforts of those that care, for the most part failing miserably. At the very least - and I'm not directing this at the Fosse Boys specifically, more at those generally that want the matchday experience (I'm sorry I couldn't think of any other way to describe it) I think there needs to be a bit of reflection about how you instigate change, because the way that people are going about it - and in fairness, how they've gone about it for many years now - just doesn't work. 1964 Fox's plan to create an atmosphere whilst sat down is amongst the most radical thinking I've ever come across on here, and I'm not even sure they were serious. And what's brilliant about his plan? There's nothing that a steward, a copper or the club can do to stop him I've assumed 1964Fox is a bloke, so massive apologies if I've got that wrong
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 But then the authorities, instead of blindly ignoring facts aimed square under their noses can then truthfully claim that nobody stands any more anyway, and the battle is lost.
Bert Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Haha no idea why this 'statement' has been blown up so much!! I've been told that... they basically said no to flag poles we will find out about the drum when they email us but i wouldnt hold my breathe they said they dont know if people in the kop will like people singing and jumping with a drum sorry but they are in the KOP for a reason they want atmosphere they just dont want to contribute to it we will be getting in touch with the FSF asking what we should do next about flag poles because it baffles me to think why Palace, Middlesbrough, Ipswich, York, Oxford, Acrington Stanley and LIVERPOOL who have the biggest flags out the lot are all allowed them it really does confuse me and offend me, that the powers think that us as Leicester City fans aren't clever enough to wave a flag we are allowed to take our flags which will include our banner so we will still be all standing behind our group banner and going for it all game flags are a small part of what we will be doing noice levels and FUN are the main things! So everything will be the same for the sunderland game bring your flags if you want, just no poles we will still be bouncing and going for it non stop! The Fosse Boys wont end no matter what the club say we can still all move our season tickets to an empty part of the kop and go for it every game Bring on Saturday!! Because it was pointless making people wait. Why things couldn't have been announced ASAP rather than having to wait is a bit stupid. Still keep plugging away and hopefully something will come of it. The club are too bothered about what the families will say I think, and winning pointless awards. No standing up in L1? Ha, good luck with that Barclay you tuwaaat.
macfox Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 All the best lads, even if it all goes tits up and least you had a go. Fair play to you.
Jay Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 I can't stand the atmosphere (or lack of it) at the walkers it has to rank as one of the most boring grounds around, the club do nothing to generate any atmosphere whatsoever, instead they try to kill it and control it so much that fans behave like highly trained seals! performing on request an no longer than is required before settling down with the minimum of fuss not talking about standing being allowed or not but music being played loud before kick off killing any chance of an atmosphere developing, goals music with people being unable to celebrate without a song being played, the whole idea of the "matchday experience" is just boring to fans young and old If I were a youngster now I really can't see many reasons why I would want to keep coming,City can be winning 3-0 and you are still bored beyond belief sometimes or Leicester get a corner you stand up within about 30 seconds someone is poking you in the back. I can't think of any other ground I have been to where it could possibly be as boring when the home side are winning as it can be at The Walkers When I first started going to City I used to stand in the terracing in the old main stand, as my dad wouldn't let me go into the Kop, I used to look over and think wow I wish I was in there, sometimes spending more time watching the fans sing than the games. now on many occasions you can actually hear the players talking to each other on the pitch yet you are towards the back of a stand with 8000 other people. The club need to understand that matchday experience isn't about goal music, prematch music, half time parades or races or any other contrived shite they come up with, it's about having a good time and at the minute, regardless of the score it's f**king boring for fans young and old
LCFC-ARAB Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Because it was pointless making people wait. Why things couldn't have been announced ASAP rather than having to wait is a bit stupid. 1964FOX Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 In response to Bellend Sebastian I was being serious about sitting down and I am a man?(ignore the rumours) and yes conforming to the rules is the best way to instigate change slowly but surely and Arab I have a surprise for you later
Sparky Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Sorry to hear the clubs responce, hope you boys stick at it.
Bert Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 sorry but today was the first time i had logged on this! it was only a day people had to wait! No-one knew that though. I thought other people who were at the meeting could've posted something.
lcfc_jme Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 For all of the protestations of a certain individual to the contrary, he knows what he was shown doing on a screen and this is why there will be a very luke-warm reception to an Ultras group existing in the stadium. No. But he is a member of this forum and is well aware of what actually happened when he was called into the club to view his actions. If this is anything even remotely aimed at me, or the person ejected and banned at the same time as me, then it's a steaming pile of horse shit and I disagree entirely with it. Not only was there nothing to show me or my friend on a screen, the club also subsequently knew they were in the wrong for ejecting and banning us, shown by their actions afterwards and their attempts to repair what they'd done. The entire reason the singing section was blown out was down to the fears that idiocy may abound in such an area. It came as no surprise to the club when incidents were then caught on camera. Absolute moonshine. The complaints about language from precious little families, coins being thrown at us by Coventry supporters who were, and I quote, "being antagonised by the presence of a drum" in that section of the ground - MUCH smaller than the drum Jobber currently has in an almost identical area - and the fears of standing becoming widespread were why the club pulled the plug on the singing section, NOT idiocy from our own fans or anything remotely close to that. Anyways boys, keep plugging away, too much time, money and effort has gone into planning this for it to go to waste. Don't let the club think you'll just roll over and die, though I'm sure you're already more determined as a result of what you've been told.

We play it cool at the moment, abide by their rules but sing and wave flags and have a fookin good time. When other city supporters witness it they will want to be a part of it and we will slowly gain a much bigger member turn out for matches. Hopefully we will reach huge numbers, the pressure will be too much and the club will be more willing to compromise with the issues/requests made to them.
Finnegan Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Not going to quote the whole thing and fill half a page but I just wanted to say that that, Bellend Sebastian, was one of the best posts I've read on here in a very long time. I've nothing but enthusiasm for the Fosse Boy's idea or for anyone that's passionate about wanting to celebrate their love of football in or out of the ground in any way that makes an atmosphere that's compelling for others. But there's a limit to how much you can fight "the system" and at the end of the day if all you're doing is antagonizing the club, the police or the current dynamic then all you'll end up doing is burning your bridges. I don't have the answers, it's not an area in which I'm especially knowledgeable or - to be perfectly honest - passionate; but ignoring the sage advice of those who do have something valid to contribute and mindlessly ploughing on with nothing but youthful exuberance will likely see you hitting a brick wall. Best of luck to all of you, I really hope you pull it off and I'm sure most City fans would be grateful to you all if anything comes of it. Just be willing to use your brains and a bit of patience as well as simply high spirits along the way.
Stand UP... Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Every foxes fan on this forum from what i have seen and read are 100% behind Leicester, football is passion and supporting your beloved club is passion, when saturday comes and your at home it should be the highlight of your life going to the pubs for a few beers with your friends then walking down to the stadium, once you get in to the stadium it should be electric, everyone standing and singing as loud as they can not just sitting there mumbling and moaning about the odd 10/15 people in sections that are trying to create an intensive atmosphere whilst the rest just sit on there arse listening to there ipod or texting. i understand people with children but i see some dads down there with there daughter or son and singing louder then the lads across him with the city shirts on sitting on there arses. If you dont like the standing and singing then go back to the family stands etc, the KOP is the KOP, since filbert street days when them dammned seats wernt there it was heaven but now all the families and boring bastards seem to have imigrated to the kop. The amount of times last season i and my brother and friends who have been given shit because we were standing and singing for our club is uncountable, trying to find seats where sections of fans actually get behind there team is an impossibility, i have said so many times i am not going again but i still do hoping and preying each time i go down will be louder. I hope the ultra fosse boys creates something this season i really do.

Tilley Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Well if you can be arsed to read the rest, your one of the ones im talking about. Having a cuppa out my flask is the highlight of my life.
Stand UP... Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Having a cuppa out my flask is the highlight of my life. Yeah theres plenty of them in the kop

Tilley Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 Yeah theres plenty of them in the kop Always stood wherever I have been situated in the stadium. Some times I sing, sometimes I don't. I find going to the Walkers tedious and unenjoyable, therefore didn't renew my season ticket for first time in seven seasons. No interest anymore, which is a shame I suppose. Lost interest the minute we came out of League One.

Tilley Posted 27 July 2010 Posted 27 July 2010 any chance you could lose interest in foxes talk, too... Thought about it, then I wondered where I would find out how many inches of snow has fallen in Norway every day come the winter. Also, you'd miss me after a week.
