Edmund Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Been asked to sit down by stewards. Stringer said 'They are a group who wanted to bring flares and flags, I think there is a Portuguese contingent amongst them' Jesus. who are the Portuguese contingent?
ousefox Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 LMFAO the Fosse Boys sound like they are being complete twats! Stringer just commented on them and said that they were going mad and the stewards were telling them to sit down, oh dear. Also... I thought the Fosse Boys said they weren't bringing flares? Lying bastards! Apperantly they got them took off them when they tried to get into the ground. Who said they brought flares in? Just wondering cos i doubt they would risk everything in their first game....
foxoffderby Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Stringer says they are called 'The Fosse Boys' whoever they are
andy_croydz Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Who said they brought flares in? Just wondering cos i doubt they would risk everything in their first game.... The commentators on RL.
Jay Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Can't someone just twitter Stringer and tell him the score! group of fans wanting to bring a continental atmosphere to the the ground club would rather it stayed as a library and weren't very helpful
Jay Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 The commentators on RL. I think you heard it wrong as I didn't hear anything about flares being confiscated, mentioned flags and flares but nothing about them trying to take them into the ground

Give me a break.
Tilley Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 The negativity regarding the group in the comments from the commentators isn't going to help things is it whether they are accurate or not. If someone did indeed try and take a flare in then you've shot yourselves in the foot big time because the club will dismiss any future discussions you try and have with them. Going to be harder than you thought, lads.
andy_croydz Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 By the way... Before someone turns up at my house with a machine gun... I absolutely WANT a better atmosphere in the Walkers. However... If you boys turned up with flares... You have already lied, you told us that flares were not permitted in the group. The fact you went down the pub and probably all got hammered before you got to the ground doesen't help your cause either. You turned up drunk and it seems the stewards are trying to get some of you to sit down. Hardly a good start for the Fosse Boys
davieG Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Flare there or not, whether they like it or not the Fosse Boys are already synonymous with flares - witness Stringer's perception of them.
lcfcsnow Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 This group is a joke, I feel for the guy thats spent his hard earned on making those flags. I'm all for a better atmosphere, flags etc but you've shot yourselves in the foot. Who over the age of 18 would want to be associated with a group called "Fosse Boys".

Why don't you wait to hear the report from the boys before you start acccussing people of things? Find it pretty unlikely they tried to smuggle a flare in personally.
Edmund Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Flare there or not, whether they like it or not the Fosse Boys are already synonymous with flares - witness Stringer's perception of them. Stringer knows full well who they are. BBC Radio Leicester get half of their news stories from this site. Daggers mentioned their linked to a certain website aka foxestalk.

Yes, but - rightly or wrongly (and I can well imagine Stringer's talking out of his arse!) - anyone listening to the Radio Leicester commentary who hasn't read this site will now have gained a negative perception of the group.

Well of course he does but I bet he only scans the topic and by doing so will see the mention of flares, puts 1+1 together and makes 3, hardly a unique situation. Now every fan who's listening will associate Fosse Boys with flares because it's a provocative word and that's what will catch their attention.
ousefox Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 I think people have got the wrong end of the stick. I am almost certain they wouldn't have brought a flare in.

Because of a flare? I could understand if they were smuggling nail bombs into the stadium but a flare? Obviously a flare may have never been smuggled in and Stringer was just guessing but come on, people aren't going to be sitting at home fearing for their lives because a flare has been mentioned.

They all got pissed before the game and turned up with a 'let us do what we want' attitude, that for me is enough to be put off by them. This is a forum, incase you wasn't aware... Everyone comes on here to voice their own opinions, I gave you mine and you didn't like it

For this group of fans to have any success they need other fans on their side, being associated with flares, rightly or wrongly will alienate them from those fans.

Obviously a flare may have never been smuggled in and Stringer was just guessing but come on, people aren't going to be sitting at home fearing for their lives because a flare has been mentioned. For a group that are apparently 'anti-flares,' it is kind of a contradiction and the minute the club click on, they won't want nothing more to do with the group. Obviously we won't know what happened until post-match but the negative comments thus far aren't going to help the group.

I don't believe I said anything about people 'fearing for their lives', or is that what you believe 'negative perception' means?
