foss1884 Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 I have contacted the Leicester Mercury to arrange for a story plus interviews with supporters involved in the Fosse Boys. I cannot see why they would not. To persuade the Mercury, i have included all the images uploaded onto this thread to showcase the flags, scarves and banners to get their attention. I will let you know what they say to arrange the meeting with supporters. The more that turn up the better with all the paraphernalia that has been created.
Tommeh Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Sounds like a success overall screw the radio and a couple on here making idiotic assumptions. Well done lads.
1964FOX Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Problem is when a radio station makes uninformed comments that are percived as being negative it can have a very detrimental effect, just the mention of flares no matter what the context will always cause issues. In their favour they did give me a decent amount of time on the phone in to put over our point.
AoWW Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 I'm sorry but Stringer is talking utter horse shit if he's claiming he didn't mention flares. Check out the posts on this very thread from 3.14 to approx 3.30 and you'll see a number of us clearly heard him say just that - yes, how people interpreted his comment was different but they were very most definitely mentioned.
Stand UP... Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Great to of met LCFC-ARAB and all the Fosse Ultra's. We didnt stop singing from walking from the counting house right to the ground up to half time...them some willy puller told bbc that we were carrying flares and shit....what a load of rubbish. This club wants us to sit on are arses for 90 minutes each game like little kids. We will come back stronger.

Would be nice to hear what you say, would also be nice if they retracted their comment after looking into if he did actually say it.
foss1884 Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Oh and i spoke to a few families during the "warm up" prior to the game and they felt it was a positive thing the Fosse Boys were doing. It turned heads and made others smile, whilst i also admit the constant noise was a nuisance to others. It reinforces the notion that a section of the stadium is needed for this to properly work and be managed correctly. I thought their efforts were top notch and exemplary. There were no flares or poles. Nobody was drunk. There were even moments when the group sat and still sang to appease the authorities during one song in particular. I am still scratching my head how Stringer can make remarks from the press box as he hardly would have had the best of views. Like some have said, his misinformation may have come from a bit of a dig on here and getting the wrong end of the stick!
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Sounds like a success overall screw the radio and a couple on here making idiotic assumptions. Well done lads. The first half was truly awesome. We just didn't stop! The second half we sat down in muted silence purely because we heard that A) the shite about 'drunken kids trying to set off flares and B) We were stood up too much (despite making a poiont of sitting down while singing songs.) If/when this takes off properly, it will be fantastic, hoest to God, I can't wait for the next time were all together.
Ozwin Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Did you get made to sit down then or did you do it on your own accord? Can't wait to hear what LCFC ARAB has to say.
1964FOX Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Sorry have not got a copy of what I said as I was in the car on my way home, before I was put through to the presenters I spoke to two people who seemed uncomfortable when I asked if they could confirm what had been said only wish I could get hold of a recording of the comments.

People shouldn't come to football if they don't want to hear constant noise, unless they support Cov, so i don't see how it can be a nuisance at all Tbh i think Stringer didn't mean to put down the group at all. Just doesn't have the greatest knowledge of 'Fosse Boys' and by mentioning the flares probably thought they were acceptable as he had seen them at Blackpool.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Did you get made to sit down then or did you do it on your own accord? Can't wait to hear what LCFC ARAB has to say. Our own accord mate. Nobody asked us to do anything.
Ozwin Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Our own accord mate. Nobody asked us to do anything. Out of interest how come?

Stringer knows what he's doing and who we are. He just doesn't like us for some reason. Note the comment along the lines of 'it looks as though the boys with too many e numbers have calmed down a bit' . Not an exact quote but still no need for it.
AndyBrew Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Some stupid fooking retarded comments on here, NO FLARES!! When we went quiet second half it just about summed up Leicesters support, biggest cheer was for Sunderland missing a shot! One old chap came up to me at the end and grabbed me by the arm grabbed a security chap and said "this is what this club needs they were brilliant"! Congratulations to Liam and the boys well done!
tony soprano Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 if you dont want the noise then you sit in the family stand simple. they are slowly trying to turn football into the toffynosed crap that is rugby. o yarr, good job kind fellow, good job
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Out of interest how come? To show the club that we are a well behaved group of fans that just want to support the team. Granted we didn't do much supporting (vocally and visably) in the second half. We sat there along with everyone else. There was no reason for anyone (let alone to RL commentators to try and say we were drunk kids out of control. I might be getting on my high horse here, but I didn't hear any of the commentary during them game, just the reaction from fans who were at the game, and what I've read on here. So if I seem a bit peeved I apologise, but I'm reacting because we were nothing short of a vocal group of fans who backed up their idea (with the clubs permission) and did nothing wrong at all.
Mee Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Just got back from the game, was sat in A1 and i have to say that the banner and all the flag waving looked awesome. Couldn't really hear you because we were right across the other side. But it looked really good. And with this flare business, i wasn't listening on the radio but i don't think you would of even contemplated bringing a flare into the Walkers.
Stand UP... Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 LMFAO the Fosse Boys sound like they are being complete twats! Stringer just commented on them and said that they were going mad and the stewards were telling them to sit down, oh dear. Also... I thought the Fosse Boys said they weren't bringing flares? Lying bastards! Apperantly they got them took off them when they tried to get into the ground. you complete cock

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I'm not having a go or anything, I'm massively in favour of this. Just a bit strange that you'd sit down after an awesome first half of singing and whatnot. Would have thought you'd want to keep it going all game?
Bettsj2 Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Guys, totally respect what you are doing and think it's high time that this was attempted as the atmosphere at the Walkers has always been terrible and if I could join you then I would (unfortunately cant afford it and have taken a 2nd job on Saturdays to help with the finances but i'd like to give you one bit of advice. Don't make yourselves martyrs. Not everyone is going to like what you're doing. You will have people shaking their heads at you during games and giving you disaproving looks and I gaurantee you'll get people calling the phone in disaproving of the Fosse Boys. What you must not do, is react with remarks like 'If you dont like it dont come to games' or adapt some sort of elite attitude towards the other supporters as that will do nothing but merely justify the doubters. There is not a stadium in the world where every single supporter has the same idea of what it takes to support their team. The Fosse Boys want to do things their way and like I said it's fantastic, but please be happy within yourselves and the group and dont get into any petty disagreements with anyone who disagrees with what you are doing.
andy_croydz Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 you complete cock Nice to see you took the time to read my apology aswell. Moron.
Stand UP... Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Nice to see you took the time to read my apology aswell. Moron. I did read it and it didnt make up for what you said, where was you when 40/50 of us are trying to make an atmosphere at the club in a game that means nothing, you jumped on the bandwagon listening to your radio and sitting on your arse at home whilst apparently all us lot were pissed out of our minds letting flares off right from the counting house down to the ground, didnt you see the mist of red surrounding the walkers??

Don't give me the "you were sitting at home listening to your radio when we were down the ground" nonsense. I have had quite a few season tickets over past seasons, I guess I wasn't supporting my club either then. I reacted to what I THOUGHT had happened, it turned out what I thought was a load of crap so I apologised. I guess an apology wasn't enough so what shall I do next? Turn up at the Palace game with a big banner saying "SORRY FOSSE BOYS"
