andy_croydz Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 what I heard was something along the lines of they are a fans group that wanted to have flares and flags the club said no to the flares but yes to the flags then some waffle about them being Portuguese. I don't think he specifically said they turned up with flares, may be wrong Well whatever happened... After my comments in this thread today i'm going to have 40 drunk 'Fosse Boys' after my blood. Life is good
AoWW Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Gary, whoever you are, well-said on Radio Leicester. Your manner and demeanour is what the Fosse Boys need if they are to be successful.

I turned the radio off 10 mins ago and missed that Fair play to them if they are a good bunch of lads. I'll probably regret what I said earlier when I made a spur of the moment comment about them :w00t:

leftsideoverhere Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Shut up. They all got pissed before the game and turned up with a 'let us do what we want' attitude, that for me is enough to be put off by them. This is a forum, incase you wasn't aware... Everyone comes on here to voice their own opinions, I gave you mine and you didn't like it How pitiful that the people who were hostile to the Fosse Boys before today are now seizing on Stringer's ignorant and utterly uninformed comments to create a version of reality which justifies their hostility. You couldn't be more wrong. I was very impressed with the Fosse Boys today. Good atmosphere in the pub before the game, nice to meet new faces from here and elsewhere, and then fun to walk to the ground in a group singing like the old days! We all went in through the same turnstiles. I certainly did not see any sign of flares, flagpoles or anything else inappropriate being confiscated, or being brought in. As far as I could see, everyone was determined to make it a positive first experience. Also there was no sign of an 'attitude'. We chose an empty block of seats in the far corner of the stand, accomodated people who were sitting nearby, and removed flags from seats when the stewards asked us to. People were, in my opinion, well-behaved and positive. All the way through the first half there were maybe 40 or so singing, jumping and having fun, despite the funeral parlour atmosphere of the rest of the stadium. It's going to enter LCFC folkore in years to come but the first time the 'turn your backs and bounce' routine was tried, DJ scored while our backs were turned! I can see it now: "join the Fosse Boys and miss the goals!" It's just a shame that Stringer's comments on the radio, and club stewards who felt we were "standing up too much" spoiled things for the second half. Reckon we should have carried on with the singing myself, but I understand the reasons for going quiet in the circumstances. Overall, a quiet pre-season game was made a much more enjoyable day, so thanks to all who participated, and especially Fosse Boy and LCFC-Arab, for making us so welcome. Onwards and upwards. Don't let the whinging get you down.
davieG Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 The lesson here is to get the media on your side, maybe try and arrange for your most articulate member(s) to get representation on one of the phone ins and someone to write an article on the good aspects of Ultra groups and your ambitions for Fosse Boys and get it published in the merc. Maybe an interview with Fez, apologies to him if he doesn't want to get involved. Also talk to the Fans representative groups, Foxes Trust, the Supporters Club and the Independent Supports Club.
andy_croydz Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Andy I forgive you Thanks, if I was wrong then I apologise for that. I was too quick in reacting to what I had heard and didn't actually think about what I was saying I just ASSUMED that you had all got hammered, turned up at the ground with a flare or 2 and got it confiscated. That's why I was so strong in my words, obviously in hindsite i've probably just made an absolute mug out of myself. Finnegan Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 You'd do yourself a favour to zip it really, Croydz, you're having a mare. Stop flapping and you'll stop digging your hole. I was sat down a bit from the lads today and I thought - given it's a friendly - they did alright. Had a bit of a laugh, enjoyed the game in their own way and raised quite a few smiles from curious fans around me. Few of the stewards seemed to shit their pants early doors when they started singing but other than that, promising. As I said earlier in the thread - they do need to be clever, they do need to have a bit of PR and try to avoid adopting a "fook 'em" attitude towards the club or any doubters because ultimately the authorities do have the capacity to clamp down on it if isn't well managed. But it's a good idea and one that's worked else where so just let them have their fun without whinging. You weren't even there were you? Give it a rest.

diggler Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Thought you sounded and looked good, especially pre-kick off. The sarcastic 'shushing' of other fans got annoying second half though. I know you were frustrated by the stewards attitudes but it just felt a bit childish. It also wouldn't go down well with some of the older koppites who sing, cheer and shout if that's where you're gonna sit next season... I think it could take off in the kop though, as there are a lot who like joining in with, if not start, chants.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Stringer just told me on Twitter before he went off for the interviews that he DIDN'T mention flares. I'm gonna phone around the family to see if anyone was listening though, though if it's been caught by iPlayer, even better.
Finnegan Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 How did the flags look all together? Didn't see a lot of flags, only the banner which was out of sight once everyone was up singing. The scarves looked good, though.

So alright then, you hear that a group of lads are drinking before a game and have heard they have tried to take flares into the ground and are being asked by stewards to sit down. You don't initially assume something? I'd be surprised if you didn't. Besides it's all irrelevant now because I accept that I made a mistake. Big deal, life is full of mistakes, I doubt I was the only one to have assumed something when that information was mentioned to us at the time.
Tilley Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Stringer is lying, he quite clearly mentioned flares and how you were a group who wanted to use them and flags.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Just got back form the game. Met the fosse boys at the pub had a drink with them, went to the ground with them and enjoyed the first half with them. AT NO TIME WHATSOEVER DID ANYONE TRY AND SET OFF A FLARE AND NOBODY TRIED TO MAKE US SIT DOWN. Just not true, and to anyone who thinks we just got shit faced before the game then went to try and cause trouble, sadly mistaken. Yet again assuming you 'know' something without actually being there. We behaved in the correct manner ALL game, as we said we would. Pisses me off that such bullshit gets airtime on the radio and people spout such shite on here despite being nowhere near us. Anyway lads, see you at Palace.
m00nie Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 thought you did well with your walk down and first half singing.. like someone mentioned before got a few people around me talking about it and curious.. heard people have been stickers all over the place though which could back fire a bit though. all it takes is bad press and peole will be trying to stop it before its even got off the ground.. stick to the sigingin/marching and word will soon get around.. no need for stickers etc imo.. be a shame to lose it so early..
andy_croydz Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 Andy you should probably just stop talking for a bit. Sound advice I'm a bit like Michael Schumacher really Comes back... Realises things just aren't as easy as they used to be and makes a fool out of himself.

Nobody's saying you did that apart from this andy chap. Glad you lot had a good time
tony soprano Posted 31 July 2010 Posted 31 July 2010 i was there with me missus while i aint into all the singing (everyones diffrent eh) heres me take on things. 1. stewards want an easy life. 2. they probaly see 40 people going crazy and think hooligans, like some scene from football factory, they shit themselves and feel they have to deal with it, but fooking hell it aint rugby is it? 3. whats so wrong with 40 people having fun? like me i wasnt into it so i sat further back and then enjoyed the game 4. Anything new is always gonna raise eyebrows and divide opinion so any talk is good. 5, my only criticism is half of the people singing and dancing wernt even watching the game haha . now that i find odd
