But I don't see how this is a hint that he's coming to us Might get better offers elsewhere...

Also, I think Anders Svensson has a pre-contract agreement with a Swedish team (possibly Elfsborg from memory?) so I don't know how great this reporting is.

Leicesterboi Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Ormerod and Kenton would both be ideal signings IMO. We know what they are both capable of, Ormerod's double against us for Wigan at the Walkers and Kenton-- He did more than enough to impress me.
supedaj Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Kenton - yes definitely Ormerod - where would we put him - we already have a few attacking mids in Hughes and williams (prospective) though ..

SamuearlJackson Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 I saw this report the other day too. Looks like lazy reporting to me. Kenton is on a big contract with time remaining. How do they expect to release him without giving him a large amount of cash (that they don't have after getting relegated)? The only way to get rid is to sell him, with Southampton probably still having to pay a large portion of his wages at his next club.

Hazza Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 I can see him being allowed to leave, Redknapp said the squad would need to be trimmed whatever division they end up in. Now he's staying apparantly and Kenton didn't get a look in despite their defence being shocking so we've got a chance. Hopefully he enjoyed his spell here so there's no need to threaten a deal by demanding a pay off of some sort. I think Southampton will let him leave for free anyway, not necessarily release him.
supedaj Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 They may try and get something. His contract is not up so they may demand some money. I'm not sure if you are all aware but he had 2 man of the match performances earlier on in the season before he came to leicester (maybe i shouldnt broadcast that!) so harry may decide he wants something as they will no doubt be feeling the effect of relegation. They dont have as much experience with relegation at it as we do! ;-) No doubt Rupert will wzant to cash in as much as possible!
Ric Flair Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 Trust me, Redknapp will not be asking for any money for Kenton. But I imagine he'll be asking for whoever signs him to take over Kenton's contract, as I doubt Southampton will fork out a percentage of his wages whilst he's with another club, unless they grant him a free transfer and he agrees to it.
Leicesterboi Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 I think we would be Kentons 1st choice club to join if we could afford him because he appeared to love it here last season. I was also told he had built a strong relationship with CL.
hinds12 Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 what is the current situation on darren kenton. Would he be a good player for us?
Libertine Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I don't think we could match his wages. That's what I've heard anyway.
kenny Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Im far from convinced he is a good signing anyway, steer clear IMO.
Durnerz Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Im far from convinced he is a good signing anyway, steer clear IMO. 113032[/snapback] Maybe not as a full back but as a centre back looks very calm and composed.

Leicesterboi Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Id take him... I think he was good for us and has a lot still to offer us.
lweston Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I wolud take him any day but maybe his wages are too much i have heard that rumour too. but if we did keep him that would be great for us to push foward and maybe aim for a playoff position, when we played Derby kenton marked rasiak out of the game

And if we get to the playoffs then we pretty much have? wheres the consistency in your posts?
