Whilst it's good to actually see footballers sing the anthem loud and proud, certain Portugal players should keep their mouths shut! Hideous attempts at singing!

Deja Vu Brazil V Portugal !

Putting to ball playing teams against each over is not a guarantee of exciting football.

spain are a one man team, and portugal are entering their usual knock out stage collapse....

even more annoying that we aren't involved anymore.

Villa has done exceptionally well but there's no way you can call them a 'one man team'.

It's annoying we're not still involved, but we're not because we're shit.

Spain would destroy us.

Good work Spain, keeping my sweepstake draw alive. I can almost feel the £64 in my pocket :D

My, my. Spain were not what you'd call exceptional but once they scored that goal there was absolutely no way that Portgual were going to get anything from the game. It might have been a drab affair for a lot of the match but when Spain have that kind of quality in their ranks you know that something good is never far away.

And it has actually angered me. Not that Spain are good, I want them to win it. But for me they have just highlighted how bad England are as a footballing nation, it's actually embarassing. As soon as they mentioned the likes of Mata, Silva and Jesus Navas being able to come off the bench it made me think. Who do we have? Shaun Wright-Phillips. Oh dear god.

Don't start me further on that midfield. When Cesc Fabregas doesn't get anywhere near the first team you know you're doing alright. Xavi, Iniesta and Xabi Alonso make me want to cry thinking about Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry and Michael fucking Carrick.

They already have two of the world's best strikers in Torres and Villa. I thought the former was very unlucky tonight with the lack of service he received, but Llorente looked good when he came on and put himself about a great deal. That's Llorente with 23 goals for Athletic Bilbao last season. Who do we have off the bench? Emile Heskey. And for good measure let's just casually bring on Barcelona striker Pedro to take the piss a little bit further.

And while Rob Green's fumbling his way to fucking up a Clint Dempsey daisy-cutter, Pepe Reina and Victor Valdes are laughing their tits off warming a bench somewhere. With Iker Casillas somewhere in there for good measure.

I wasn't particularly angry about England going out on Sunday, it just didn't feel as bad as previous tournaments. Is that because I've finally accepted that we're nowhere near what's expected of a top class world side? At the time no, I thought we could beat Germany, but upon great reflection and watching sides like Spain, I think I just have. It's embarassing.

Sad, but so very true.

ok, perhaps 'one man' is an exaggeration based mainly on their early form in the competition, but let's face it without him they would have gone out with france and italy, also i think a few of their key players have massively under performed, particularly torres, even casillas has been a bit wobbly...

i haven't seen anything from spain that makes me think, 'that's a world cup winning performance', they have been pretty average and were as close as england were to getting knocked out. mind you, i haven't seen one single dominant performance this world cup.

oh, and i can't stand iniesta - diving, playacting little runt :D

Thing is, Villa turning up and saving Spain is one more "world class" player than turned up to save France, Italy and England combined.

Also for Spain, playing against teams who wish to show little or no attacking intent whatsoever, they're hardly going to steamroller these sides. Spain need to play against sides such as Chile, such as Brazil, Argentina, Holland. Sides who will flood forward and not "park the bus", as it were. Portugal, for some of the players and supposed talent they have in their team, should be embarrassed by their performance earlier.

The fear of both conceding goals and losing games in this world cup has really dampened the majority of the games and made vintage attacking displays and breath-taking, end-to-end games in this tournament an unfortunate rarity.

Villa is one of the favourites to win the Gold Boot and it's not only because he is a great player: Even the best scorer needs a good team behind him to build the play and decisive pass.

Now I'm waiting for an Argentina v Spain / Messi v Villa!
