new managers view on us

Imagine you are a football manager with a half decent reputation.

Milan calls you to see if your interested in the Leicester managers job.

honestly try and give me a reason why you would accept it?

the clubs a f**king joke atm. Milan will be putting his two bobs worth in all the time about player to buy etc

no money. debts. milan to deal with. Why would you bother with our club? you would be mad.

why doesn't milan just manage the team?

we are no longer the biggish club we were or claim to be. we are a mess and we have lost our way bigtime. we are no more then a stepping stone for managers and players to better their career.

i dont know how this will change but its not going to while we have the same setup at leicester city fc :frusty::cry:

um, perhaps, because we are no different to many other clubs?

it is safe to say there are actually much worse options than us.

agreed, certain managers maybe reluctant, but it's not going to scare off every manager, and other things to consider are that we have a decent fanbase (some of whom are prone to the odd knee jerk melodramatic reaction), decent training facilities and stadium, great youth team and (whilst it remains) the core of a half decent first team

milan has ****ed up as far as I am concerned.

some may disagree with me but the way I see it in modern day football if you want to own a football club you have to be prepared to lose millions it is not a profitable business, if you not prepared to do that then stay away from it.

pearson may well have made high demands but managers like him dont come every day, milan should have learned from the time when he lost redknapp at pompy but clearly he hasnt.

also if pearson has left due to milan meddling I will be even angrier then I am now.

I think we'd be a reasonably attractive proposition to all but the very top tier of managers - just missed out on promotion, decent squad but scope for a new man to make an impact without having to do a massive cull (due to loan players going back), one or two stars that he could cash in on if he wanted, decent sized ground, reasonable number of season tickets sold already, good history...

Above all, I think Milan must be pretty persuasive character. He puts that across in interviews and managed to bring back Redknapp for a second time to Portsmouth. Budgets are tight everywhere, so I don't think that would necessarily put someone off.

We are a far better opportunity than joining a just-relegated team that will be slashing budgets or a team that has been performing under par for a while and needs turning round. I would think most Championship managers would look at us as an easier route to success than what they're dealing with and would jump at the chance. Everyone knows about Mandaric by now, so you wouldn't be surprised to get the boot if you were rubbish - again, that's no different to a lot of chairmen.

At the end of the day, Pearson did extremely well to get us promoted from L1, had a bit of luck and some hard work to give us a better season than most thought we'd have in the Championship. However, despite our final position there were plenty of moans about the style of play, lack of imagination, refusal to use certain players and blind faith in others. He was also a miserable sod. I would be happy for him to stay, but Nigel Pearson is not irreplaceable and we could even do better with a change.

Nigel Pearson disagrees.

I think most people forget that a job is a job and a football manager is a well paid job. Wouldn't we all accept £300k+ a year and a chance to prove ourselves rather than sitting on our arses earning fa on the off chance that Man Utd might call?

I think the overreaction to this is completely understandable.

After so many years of shit managers, players and football, NP came along and got us back on the right track.

However I think the position we are in now, is a much better proposition to potential managers than in previous years.

When Milan first came here, we were a club that had been struggling for a few years with a poor squad of players. Now we have a decent squad and will be considered a team expected to challenge for the top 6.

Yes, there is no money to spend but quite a few managers accept that position, especially as currently there are several decent players available on a free transfers that a manager may have wanted to sign.

This job is a great opportunity no matter what the state of the finances. Plush ground and training facilities, large fanbase, excellent squad of players, lots of history and tradition. Loads of managers would take this job, and I'm sure plenty of those out of work will apply at the drop of a hat. Last season we finished 5th, 25th overall in the country, that's pretty high if you ask me.

I think it's an attractive job, far more attractive than it was two years ago.

Many out-of-work, and possibly some in-work, managers would relish the chance I feel.
