Koke Posted 30 June 2010 Posted 30 June 2010 Paraguay will line up with a 7-3-0 formation. And if they somehow miraculously nick a goal from a set piece or a penalty, it's gonna be a long long night for Spain.
Collymore Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 I never remember Puyol having so much pace when he played at the Walkers. He couldn't get close to Nalis back then...
C-man Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 This is shit. Torres has been woeful all tournament, can't believe Del Bosque still picks him. * Waits for Torres to score *
Finnegan Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Hope Paraguay beat these overhyped, racist ****s. Ok, I'll bite. Is there not some irony in branding the team themselves racist on the "merits" of their fans? And are they really overhyped? Seriously? They won the last major tournament with some aplomb, what more do you expect from a top class side?
Guest Bilo Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Ok, I'll bite. Is there not some irony in branding the team themselves racist on the "merits" of their fans? And are they really overhyped? Seriously? They won the last major tournament with some aplomb, what more do you expect from a top class side? I can see what Tilley means though, at least about the racist part. I personally wouldn't want to see a set of fans who still think it's OK to go 'ooh, ooh, ooh' whenever a black player kicks a ball enjoy winning the World Cup. Personally I think they deserve a heartbreaking exit on penalties. Preferably to Ghana because of the hilarious irony but that's not possible any more. I know it's a bit harsh to wish that on the players themselves but ask yourself if you wouldn't derive just a little bit of schadenfreude at seeing Rangers or Lazio suffer a similar fate in club football and watching their fans cry in the stands? Back to Spain themselves, they haven't been outstanding this tournament in my opinion but if being European Champions after dominating every team you met in the competition two years ago is overhyped, I'd fvcking love England to be overhyped.
C-man Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 England are overhyped, that's the problem. EDIT: I should really read the whole of each post
Fox You Forest Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Should have expected it really in such a pathetic game... Another one.
Salieri Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Unbelievable! Paraguay miss pen, seconds later Spain win one and score! EDIT : retake!
maddog Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Brilliant stuff Peno Paraguay, missed. Seconds later Peno Spain, scored. Retaken due to Spain players miles inside the D and almost inside the box, saved, Fabregas blatantly taken down, should be another pen ref misses it. Should have been red card for the Paraguay player. Just incase anyone needs a commentary
Salieri Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 For someone who has had a wedge on 2 or 3 goals in the match, not best pleased with that passage of play. <_<
Guest Bilo Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 To be honest this spell has pretty much summed the absolute gash standard of officiating during the tournament as a whole. The number of serious, game changing mistakes has been unbelievable. When Howard Webb has looked the best referee in the tournament, you know things are looking bad.
Finnegan Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Please don't misunderstand me, I wouldn't tolerate racist abuse of any kind and I wouldn't want to see their fans necessarily rewarded. I've made it fairly well known I'm feverently anti-racist and anti-prejudice. Just thought it was seeming Tilley was tarring the players themselves with the same brush which seemed somewhat harsh. My apologies to Tilley if I'm simply being over sensitive.

I'm sure most of their players aren't racist themselves in spite of the major problems with racism in the Spanish game, I believe the worst racism is confined to the terraces rather than the training pitches.
Edmund Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 I'm sure most of their players aren't racist themselves in spite of the major problems with racism in the Spanish game, I believe the worst racism is confined to the terraces rather than the training pitches. So the British media would like you to believe.
Salieri Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Villa scores for Spain, surely not! C'mon Paraguay, bag an equaliser.
Guest Bilo Posted 3 July 2010 Posted 3 July 2010 Who was the last black player in the Premiership who felt compelled to walk off the pitch because he could no longer take the monkey chants and general racist abuse from the stands? Also, who was the last England manager to encourage one of his players by referring to a rival as a 'black piece of shit?' Both of these things have happened in Spain in the last six years and it's far from cured, with some of the more right-wing ultra groups in the country thinking little of taking swastikas into grounds. It's not as bad as it is in Italy with clubs like Lazio and nothing like as bad as in parts of Eastern Europe, but racism in the Spanish game is far worse than it is in England.
