Jimothy Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 I hope Klose doesn't break Ronaldo's record. Damn I'd forgot about this game, thought that was it for Klose after last night.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Does anyone care? No, and I think Germany and Uruguay care even less than the neutral spectator. Pointless game, and I don't think it's fair on both countries to make them stay and play another game after the heartbreak of losing in the semis.
FoxyPV Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 I think Forlan and Klose are the only two who care as they are both within a shout of golden boot and Klose could break Ronaldo's record. The fact that they don't care should make it an open and exciting game.

lildave3 Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 I hope Klose doesn't break Ronaldo's record. Oh god me too. That would be a travesty.
Tilley Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 What a pointless waste of time. If I had just lost a semi final, the last thing I would want to do is play this crap.
Corky Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Agree with other comments, I'm sure the players just want to go home/ on holiday.
MC Prussian Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 I care. And there's still some medals to play for. That and your country's honour. Should be enough, shouldn't it? Uruguay to edge this 2-1.
Jordan Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Does anyone care? What?! The third place game is often one of the most entertaining games in the tournament! Two teams with nothing to lose playing reserves that have everything to prove. Germany scored three within a 20-minute span in this game four years ago. In 2002, Hakan Sukur scored 11 seconds after kickoff . I still remember Sweden slamming four past Bulgaria in one half back in '94. And just try to tell the 1998 Croatian team that the third place game is worthless...

I'm sure some of the less successful teams, teams that have never won it or been near winning it will relish the opportunity but I suspect Germany and especially their players will view it as a game they could do without. If you're having 3/4 playoffs why not have them for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th?

Usually, when a team makes it all the way to the semifinals of the World Cup, their performances warrant an encore from the crowd and it's nice to see those two teams oblige with some attacking football.
MC Prussian Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Love this game. Obviously both teams are a real workforce, with a slight advantage on the creative side for the Germans. Two great goals so far and this could very well be another high-scoring game for third place at a World Cup. Perez is no Messi, but boy does this guy grind it out and come up with powerful tackles - in a good old-fashioned Uruguayan way (just without the red cards). Obviously, this being the eight game for both teams in as little as 30 days, they must be all exhausted. Forlan's pretty much done and he has to push himself hard. Still on track for my 2-1 Uruguay win. If only Suarez had scored... Did you hear the African boo brigade whenever he came close to the ball, as well? The poor pitch and the rain should work in favour of the South Americans, methinks.
Mee Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Not sure his name, but the Bald guy for Uruguay is a wonderful player. Does his job magnificently.
Matt Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Schweinsteiger to score next C'mon almost win me the money on my Dream Team competition.
lildave3 Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Schweinsteiger to score next C'mon almost win me the money on my Dream Team competition. That's all this game means to me aswell Desperate to win it
Matt Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 That's all this game means to me aswell Desperate to win it I have 3 more transfers to make (I think) as it stands i'm top by 4 points, so might be tactical and just copy as many of the players involved in the final the person 4 points behind me has in his team and that way he cannot overtake me - Tactics My worry is i'll have to miss out on a couple of players and no doubt the players I miss out on will be the players to score thus me losing it
Matt Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Is it Saurez's aim just to have a shot regardless of where he is on the pitch whenever he gets the ball?
I am Rod Hull Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Nothing much to play for = good game ... 2-2 but the Polish.. sorry, Germans... to lose on pens Oh.. And if anyone finds a fiver.... its mine....
Cat Burger Posted 10 July 2010 Posted 10 July 2010 Is it Saurez's aim just to have a shot regardless of where he is on the pitch whenever he gets the ball? If that approach is what got him 49 goals this season in Holland it's worth sticking with it.
