With a few better additions to my squad that easily got promoted, I lose 4-1 to Bolton, 4-1 to Sunderland and the 6-0 to Southampton in the League Cup! Not sure how or why it's happened, but it's fvcked morale and it'll be a long struggle from here. Yeah, the first season in the Prem is a b*tch. ----------------------------------- Just started the 2011/12 season myself, and so far so good really seeing as we're relegation favourites. Currently 7th, but it's still very early! Had to rely on released players, and golden oldies to patch up certain areas of the team. Managed to bring in a few good youngsters though, and somehow managed to pull off the coup of Ronaldinho! 90k a week though, which is the only exception I've ever made to my wage structure - but it's been worth it as he has assisted near enough every goal I've scored so far! Oh, and don't sign Bellamy, he's sh*te.

If your playing legit, without a trainer or editor, the first season is pretty tough as it's a transitional period and you need to see whether your players are up to the challenge. As for getting 'top half prem glory' with a strike force of Griffiths and Bednar, I highly doubt that.

It probably depends on which leagues are active and what the player's situation is at the club at that time. He might have gotten Cattermole cheap, but Thorgan Hazard and Eriksen are available at around half that if not less.

Its much better this year as teams seem to actually be buying a squad of players thanks to unticking the box that adds regens to teams. My city squad looks lie: GK: Smithies, Areola (Monzons WP fell through and id already spent all my wages by then) DR: Azpilicueta, Rafael DL: Insua, Enrique DC: Richards, Breno, Papadopolous, P Jones, M Sakho, DM: Rodwell, M'Vila AMC: Lodiero, Wilshere, Bostock AMR: J Henderson, Ninis, El Shaarawy AML: Griezmann, T Hazard, Shaqiri ST: Macheda, Paloschi, Muniain (Babacar coming end of season) Every player i offered a contract too came except Pjanic who went to Hoffenheim Storming it so far. 6-0 win at Palace. 5-1 at Ipswich and 3-1 at Barnsley and i banged 9 past Tranmere with a 10th disallowed.

Bednar signed IRL so i decided to do a bit of db editing to put the loanees in and partner bednar + griffiths in the chapionship, didn't work but still. Also I'd seen my players were up to the challenge, winning the LC and reaching the FA cup quaters in the first season - still shelled out on improving my attack and midfield. Got a couple of early wins in the Europa league + prem to keep momentum from previous season and charged on.

I've noticed this several times in previous versions as well, that the formation that brings success for the first half usually gets 'sussed out' in the second half and is far less effective.

Theres a bunch of options below the leagues choice including 'Open Transfer Windows In September' and 'Use Real Players' etc The box is called something like 'Generate Players For Squad'. All jolly technical i know. Hope that helps. Im smashing the league on this game though. Hoping to hitt 100 goals in all comps by Christmas. Hit 80 by end of September (i think - my maths are gash tbh)
