He wasn't misquoted, someone posted a link in one of the other 400 threads where he says "not Leicester, I don't want to go back there" the misquoted argument has already been proved wrong.

Yeah, and the reason he didn't want to come back was because Pearson didn't like him and didn't pick him. Why would he want to come back when he was happy banging goals in for Blackpool or Derby or wherever he was at the time!! He didn't say he hated Leicester or the fans as many of you would like to believe.

Basically, the change in manager changes everything!! If Sousa likes him, he will play. The last thing we need is some of our moronic fans to force him out of the club only to watch him score goals all season for Derby (or someone similar) while we watch Leicester fail to score in games wishing we had DJ (hypothetical situation mind you). He offers a great alternative to Fryatt and at the moment we have nothing better and wouldn't be likely to be able to buy anything better. Think of him as a replacement for Waghorn!

Most of this thread is irrelevant bullshit, only two things matter.

1) Does he want to play and will he give it his best shot?

2) Do the rest of the squad want him in the squad and available to play?

It is my understanding that DJ would rather be playing elsewhere and that few in our current squad have any time for him.

I may be wrong but I do not think so, we are including him in pre-season in the hope that he is noticed and someone makes a sensible offer for him. Far too much history and all of it bad.

DJ Campbell is not 'one of the best strikers at this level'. That is total rubbish.

The most amount of league goals he has got in any season above the Isthmian league (and this is EVER) is 14, last season - before that he'd never hit double figures.

People must be desperate if they still believe Campbell can come good for us.

A big burden on our finances for too long and I doubt we will ever see the back of him until the glorious day arrives when his contract is up.

Finally a sensible post on the matter. I guarantee that half saying keep him have slated him on here in the past yet because of 2 pre season goals now want a wankathon over him.

If we get any kind of half decent offer for the disruptive, over-paid, ungrateful bag of whinge, I say sell, sell, sell.

However as none will be comming in soon the least he can do is put a bit of effort in for his 20k a week wages. He might even get some acknowledgement from his team mates then.

Whose place would he take?

I'm not sure as to whether that is an issue. We need to have a good squad, and competition for places. If (and it's a big if) DJ wants to play for the club and is willing to give it his best shot under the new management (he clearly didn't see eye to eye with Pearson) then i can't see how it can be a bad thing.

As for him not getting on with other players, do we know that to be true? I've not been his biggest fan but i'm always willing to give a player another shot if it's in the best interest of the club, and i've got a feeling Sousa rates him so like it or not, we may be seeing more of him yet.

If he gets a run in the side and scores a few goals, a lot of people on here will change their opinion. He spat his dummy last season simply because he wanted to play, and there seemed to be no chance of that last season under Pearson. He scored plenty of goals for Blackpool whilst on loan at this level, why can't he do the same for us?

It's a new season, and (like Kermogant, another vilified player) a fresh start.

I'd keep him if he is willing to play. Could be a real use.

Even if, as is rumoured, he is disruptive and disliked by a fair number of our squad?...:dunno:

To my mind squad togetherness and the strong team ethic is more important than any single player at this level.

If he is prepared to fit in, work hard and gain the respect of the squad then fair enough, but in all the time he has been with us that hasn't happened. Frankly I can't see it happening now going on his efforts in the last couple of seasons.

I would be very surprised if DJ could win round the squad even if he has the balls to try, so for me this is the critical factor, far more important than any goals he might possibly bring us.

The simple fact is no one knows for sure the full story behind the DJ saga, there was obviously a falling out between DJ and LCFC, we don't even know for sure whether he got on with NP as it could have been Hoos or Mandaric, he might even have been involved in whatever messed up Allen's relationship with Mandaric which had started off so well. The timescales for his 'sudden falling out fits that scenario, I can't believe he got the hump just because Allen went.

All we have is his public statement that at that point in time he didn't want to come back to LCFC, we don't know why - was it him being an arse or did the club renege on a promise? And where did all this 'not getting on with the other players' come from? I've no idea. Have any of them made a public statement to that effect?

We're all pissing in the wind speculating on what happened, whether he's stays or not we'll probably never know in fact I'm not sure I even want to know the reasons all I want is for a decision to be made staying or going I don't give shit.

The most annoying thing about this whole saga and it reflects life in general is the amount of attention and discussion the 'bad apples' receive.

Frustratingly I've just added to it.

lol

Particularly the last sentence lol

Who would you say is better than him?? Fryatt would be the only one that comes near him..

Whose place would he take?

Waghorns? Vaughan's? Also keep competition for places.

It looks like Howard will go which leaves us with Fryatt and Kermogant. And you all want to get rid of another striker..unbelievable.

All I ask for as a fan is for our players to give it their best every game.

I'm not a dj fan but if he stays here and wants to play for leicester puts his ego to one side, then I will back him with all I can as I would any other leicester player.

But if a decent offer came in I wouldn't spend a week in bed crying about him leaving.

Good post, however IF he does play for us next season you just know a high percentage of the Leicester fans will boo him. Just like they do with every other player. Then you start to wonder why players have bad performances or don't want to play for the team.

The lack of information coming from 'official' sources leads to a huge amount of speculation and rumour, witness the number of posts that told us a takeover deal was done last week!

With DJ we do have a few 'facts' to go on. His statements that he would rather play anywhere than at City are well documented as is his 'gangsta' life style, his involvement, however peripherally, in the stabbing earlier this year is further testament to that. In addition when he has played, admittedly some time ago now, his lack of application and poor attitude were there for all to see.

The 'rumours' that he is arrogant and somewhat disliked within the squad are just that, rumours. however they are persistent and come from a number of sources.

The remedy is very much in his own hands, a better attitude, hard work in training and the kind of performances he put in for Blackpool in the run in would turn things around pretty damn quickly.

The question is whether he wants to play for us or not and whether he has the character to put in the effort to make it happen. It is my opinion, based on what I know, that he does not.

Dj's big problem started when allen left, which was the main reason he signed for us - Martin Allen. He was told certain things would happen, which didn't. Then he spent most of the season injured. After that season, pearson came in, and for some reason didn't like dj. Dj, I believe needs a manager who shows him a bit more attention and he'll score for you in this case. I don't think he's ever had a proper chance here with his career being stop start for us. If the new manager likes him, and wants him to start, let bygones be bygones and just support him. If he scores 20 goals next season which gets us up and then he leaves, i'll be more than happy with that.

But that's the problem the fact that you refer to him as a bad apple means you've been brainwashed and naive to believe that he's the root of the problem.

LCFC have done very well to scapegoat Deej as some sort of anti Leicester player when in fact all he ever wanted to do was play football but was told he was not in NP's plans. LCFC/Nigel wanted him out when we dropped a division as he was a burden on our finances but that meant taking a pay cut which after all why should he when he thought he could fight for his place.

Instead he wasn't given a chance and LCFC tried to bully him out and that's when the whole saga started. He was scapegoated so much so that other players were made to dislike him and talk behind his back by the management.

The fact is it takes two to tango and I can tell you now Deej was treated like shit and was told to go rot in the reserves. He wasn't part of NP's plans from day one purely for financial reasons. They tried to bully him out of the club because of his wages. FACT

Crouchback's post sums things pretty much up to a tee, to be honest. Dj's relationship with the players isn't as bad as people think.

How do you know all this?
