DanTheFox07 Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Just Wanted to see what the general opinion is regarding campbell now he has been playing.
Alexikokopops Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Oh good. Another DJ Campbell thread. I was worried that there wasn't enough discussion in the other 400.
Ozwin Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 I know DJ topics get made loads but you lot love whinging about them! It'll get moved in 5 minutes, chill out.
ousefox Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 As i said in another thread, we are going to have to do something with him. His contract ends at the end of the season and if we are looking to keep him it means we'll have to keep his paying his supposed very high wage and i can't see us offering him the same deal tbh. Can see him being sold in January or at the end of this window when Blackpool become desperate to get new players in.
Guest ttfn Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Blackpool haven't signed many players yet. They'll get desperate very soon because their squad is woeful and they think DJ is the second coming. I want him as far away from the Walkers as possible - he's failed under every manager bar Martin Allen, who was here for 4 games (3 years ago). He publicly said he never wanted to play here again. Yes, he's scoring goals in pre-season but for me, that just increases his value. DJ + Leicester just doesn't work. How would you feel if you were Steve Howard or Matty Fryatt and you had worked hard at this club for 2 and a half and 4 and a half years respectively if you were kept out of the side by a mouthy ****er who said he never wanted to play for the club again and, let's not forget, was recently arrested in connection with a stabbing (although he was released without charge, can you imagine too many of our other players even being linked to something like that?) If he was Cristiano Ronaldo and had done all of this stuff but was infinitely better than anyone else we had, I could understand. But he's not a star player, he's probably about average for our squad. Basically, all the shit he has caused, is causing (in an interview with 4-4-2 this month he talked about Blackpool {in the future tense} as 'we') and will continue to cause is not worth it, particularly when somebody will probably dangle a million quid in front of us imminently.
stever Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Does anyone care anymore?? If we can get some money for him, then yes sell him but if no just let him rot in the Reserves until the time comes that he grows up and realises that he is not the most important player at the club and that hey we might just survive without his destructive comments and lack of commitment. As fore mentioned the fact that he is scoring pre-season adds to his value and Holloway may soon decide that he is desperate for players and that DJ may just suit Blackpool. But if he doesn't a season or 2 being shown up by the Reserves will show him what alot of people actually think of him

Walshy5 Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 I bet he,s the most talked about player ever on this forum. Oh and by the way get rd of him!
Fox You Forest Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 The only reason why he said he didn't want to play again for Leicester was because he was treated like shit by the club. What was done to him? - Actually I think I know what you're talking about, still I'm pretty sure it's not the only reason.

bluebeau Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 According to my Spirit Guide (Shitting Bull), Blackpool will be coming in with a realistic bid for the Deej before the start of the new season, & City will be glad to off-load him. IMO he will struggle to get goals in the Prem. Get rid & free up some wanga in wages to pay to more deserving players. So, he has scored 2 goals in pre-season games, but lets not forget, the competition is just about Blue Square standard.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 I would definitely keep him, have rated him for ages. He offers something different to any other striker we have, genuine pace! He's got goals everywhere he has gone where he's been given a chance. What he said about the club was because how the club treated him. If i was on the bench every week not getting a sniff i wouldnt want to play for that club either. Every player wants to play. Sousa's style will suit him better than NP's. The fact he has got 2 goals in pre-season is irrelevant, but hes a class player, and personally i rate him higher than any other striker we have here.

Fox92 Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Keep him. Regardless of the opposition, DJ Campbell has scored two goals in two games, which is great. Think he'll like the football and not the long ball. I'm really excited for him... Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole, DJ, DJ
Edmund Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Was he though? Pearson never liked him from day one. He wasn't given a chance and eventually forced to train with the academy. Yes he's outspoken and there was obviously friction from both sides but you can't blame him for saying what he did to the press in the heat of the moment considering the circumstances. Everywhere he's gone on loan, Blackpool, Derby then Blackpool again, he's scored goals. He's an accomplished striker at this level and a real asset mainly because of his pace. Although I still think that it would be best for Deej to move on as a section of our moronic fans will never let him be.

Although I still think that it would be best for Deej to move on as a section of our moronic fans will never let him be. The thing is, we don't know why Pearson didn't like him. For all we know, he could have not bothered trying in training, and been a disruptive figure, which could have lead to Pearson disliking him. It's all conjecture. Personally, I'll quite happily welcome him back if he's scoring goals, I don't really care what he's said in the past. My only worry is how much we're paying him to do so (but again, that's just based on rumours he's on a fair whack)
Milans Foxes Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 I cannot understand the people who would rather see one of the most prolific strikers at this level sold to a rival team (or Blackpool). I do agree that if we get a solid bid in for him upwards of £1 million, we may be inclined to get rid especially with the wages he is rumoured to be on but we really should keep him and he can leave for free at the end of the season. Name me one realistic striker we could get as a replacement who will score as many as he would for less than a mill?? Did any of you wanting him to leave see his performance for Blackpool in that 2nd leg at Forest, the guy was unplayable?!! And to you gulliable lot who believe everything you read in the papers, he probably said he wouldn't be going back to Leicester while Pearson was in charge (because he wasn't getting picked). He was understandably badly shaken up after Allen left and he hasn't been given a proper chance since. Do you fickle lot remember him scoring two against Watford and kissing the badge in front of the Kop. If Sousa likes the guy, and why wouldn't he, then lets support and get behind him instead of forcing him out to one of our rivals and watch him bang a load of goals in like we did last season!

milan_foxes Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 I'm sorry but if you've got someone that is playing for you and scoring goals (even if they are friendlies) then he has to stay, regardless of what has happened in the past.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make though, what I am saying is the people saying "get rid, get rid" just because he was misquoted saying he hated Leicester are probably the same sort of people who were worshipping the guy back under Martin Allen when he was seen as a massive coup by fans. Its one extreme to another. I'm more of the steady-minded type and how our fans cannot want DJ at the club in his current form is a joke!
Bugg Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 He wasn't misquoted, someone posted a link in one of the other 400 threads where he says "not Leicester, I don't want to go back there" the misquoted argument has already been proved wrong.
